Full Version: Mk5 mirrors on a Mk4

Picked up my freshly painted Mk5 mirrors from the bodyshop yesterday and after washing the car decided to fit them as the drivers side was broken when i bought the car (2 years ago lol). As the plugs are different on the Mk5 the wiring from the Mk5 mirror had to be connected to the Mk4 plug, I did a browse of the forum but couldn't find any info on wiring them up and after braking my already broken mirror a bit more to see which wires went where i managed to get then wired and working.

Here are the wires i joined:

MK4 - Mk5

White - White
Black - Purple
Red/Black - Brown
Blue - Blue
Brown - Blue/Purple

If this information is somewhere around and i have missed it feel free to delete this post.

Yep it is unless you get the GTI.

Don't think its anything to do with gti-ness...

They usually are larger, but some are the same size, not very common, you can also get a small one from an lhd car.

In my opinion, the small 6N2 mirrors on a 6N look shockingly bad...2 of the larger ones suit though.

Just seen that polo on mini lights tbh I think they are to small, it doesn't look OEM might try this with two larger wing mirrors

How have people connected the wires?

Chop the wires and connect with spade connectors?

Any info would help.

Cheers for this smile.gif

I've a Mk5 but have put the larger Mk4 mirrors on it (Well passenger one was smashed and I'm an old man so need bigger mirrors to see things)

Anybody wants a Black drivers side Stubby 6N2 wing mirror drop me a message as its for sale, I could even put a 6N plug on it. You can have the passenger side one too - glass is fine but cover is smashed.

Nice mod but look bit to small imo
