Monday 29th October 2007 - 8:42pm
Model: 1988 CL Square
Engine:
G40 conversion. Engine was standard Bar a filter. It was quick enough due to light weight

lowered 40mm all round. Had several suspension setups, but the last were Koni Dampers with H&R springs, Poly bushes.
Brakes:
Standard vented G40 Items with bulkhead knocked back to allow fitment of G40 brake servo
Wheels and Tyres:
Standard G40 with 185 55 13(seem high profile now but at the time they were perfect)
Exterior Styling:
MK3 Bumpers. Front arches has been knocked in to allow the bumper to fit without modification.
[b]Rear arches from a coupe!!! Not seen that done since!Flushed tailgate.
Painted in Piaggio Candy Apple Red.
Interior Styling:
Standard G40 seats, with MK3 Dash
ICE and Security:
Clifford concept 40
Plenty of Ice in its time
Comments:
What you need to remember, is that this car was originally built around 1995. It came out at roughly the same time as the R&A car, but this had a servo, and used the original mountimng points for the supercharger etc. Its started out life as a written off dash fire car, and ended up as you see in the pics(Sorry about the quality)

They're mk3 polo bumpers.
This car is awesome, the rear arches look like they are stock, when in fact they are far from it.

I'm sure I have a pic of this car from back in the day somewhere. Did it run without a spotlight at one point?

They were coupe s rear wings welded on at the bottom of the b and c pillar.
Big expensive mod at the time, but I haven't seen it done since

The rear bumpers are relaibely easy.
The fronts can be done all sorts of ways. Mine were done by bending the metal on the wings, so that the bumpers fitted as on a MK3. You also need to extend the front, as the MK3 bumper isn't flat like the MK2. Not an easy job to make look right, and TBH, I think I prefer standard MK2 bumpers, but this was 1996 ish
