I've been looking around the breakers for GTI grill for the brother and have only seen ones for MK6 golfs, which look idenical. Are these the same part or slight diffrent?

And would it be complatible with the 6r

I never have the time to dig into a resto, so I thought I'd try a bit of a turn around on something modern. I didn't fancy doing bodywork, so I bought a bit of a mystery bag car from auction (the cars got a history, so I can't put which auction or the reg just yet).

So here goes with a 3 door, 6r 1.6tdi....

I thought I would finality make my own build thread on here. i got my polo back last year in July 2011.

I am pretty far through my build but no where near finished.

So a 12 plate 1.2 match, which drives surprisingly well and well refined for such a small car. 

No ideas what I'll do with it, if I mod it at all as to be honest it wouldn't pull the skin off the rice pudding, but I like it. 

Got my first car, it's the bog standard Polo S, 1.2 60hp with 15" Cadiz Alloy wheels (So happy to have alloys and not the steel wheels)

I'm really happy with it, for a 16 year old it's quite a nice car, just a shame I have to wait until I'm 17 to drive it :(.

Here are some of the mods I'm hoping to do (I'd love to get some R-line/Blue GT bumpers but insurance prices go crazy)

Add an Aux to the RCD 210

Upgrade the speakers and add some sound deadening (No crazy subwoofer though)

Add the garage door opener

Get the 3 rear windows tinted

Add a gloss black vinyl wrap to the roof

Maybe retrofit the foglights 

Spray paint/vinyl wrap the interior trim gloss black

Paint or vinyl wrap the mirrors black or white (Can't decide)

Add some white LED licence plate lights

And proabably some more
 

I know it's not crazy but insurance really limits what you can do to your car. Even bog standard with the black box/ telematics box is going to cost me £1200. Hopefully with these small mods I can at least get the ball rolling haha.

Oh yeah has anyone had any experience with this adapter https://everythingautomotivediy.wordpress.com/diy-install-aux-in-cable-for-volkswagen-rcd-210/ It basically tricks the RCD210 into thinking that it's playing CD's when it's just converted it into an aux, not too sure if it's any good or just a waste of money. I really want to keep the OEM look because I don't like the bright lights that come on aftermarket stereos and the RCD510 costs £££ and then you have to mess about with anti-theft codes. I only want to connect my iPod to my car.

Anyway it'd be nice to hear some other mods that won't make insurance company's lose their sh*t haha

Just done the first 150 miles of driving based on the "run it hard" bedding in method.

Handles pretty well as standard, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Sets off the line like a scalded cat with the supercharger.

Definitely needs more power up top.

Even though I say it myself, it is a lovely little motor and should be a great new project for me to mess about with.

No Nitrous this time though! :-)

this is long over due. So I use to own a Polo 6r 1.2 Moda - wasn't a bad first car was pretty slow but loved the feel of the car. 

So recently I made the plunge and after reading hundreds of threads on here and other forums I went and bought a 6R GTI 

this is it, woke up early on Thursday the 9th of March. Went to work for a couple of hours decided I couldn't wait till the weekend to make the trip up to white city to go and buy it, with some deliberation and negotiating with my boss he let me go at 10:30am  WHAT A RESULT. 

Sooo I began my journey from Brighton at 11:45 to Victoria - I then got two tubes and an Über. Took me 3 and a half hours to get there, the sun was shining and everything was good. Then disaster. 

Apparently as im 19 they wouldn't let me buy the car without someone accompanying me who was 21!!! What kind of crap is that??

I argued for for what seemed like an age and they eventually took me for a test drive in which I sat shotgun  anyways I loved it from first sight so all the test drive did was make my decision even easier. 

I bought the little polo and drove 4 hours through London back to Brighton. Long story short I loved the car and everything About it. 

So I'm only 19 and I'm not sure what my insurance will be like about mods and stuff but so far all I've done is stick on this cool phone holder. 

Move also got these cool flappy paddle extensions I got off eBay - aluminium and massive I love them make gear changes so much more fun. 

I would love to go to some shows with it and some meets if any of your guys are from down south let me know.

here starts my build project on my 6R

here is a list of what I want to do to it (for now)

• definitely want to get some alloys. currently looking at some Wolfrace Assassins. however I'm unsure what size to get, stuck between 15 or 16 inches, or course tires and sizes are a factor to consider too. I don't want them too small but at the same time not too big. could other 6R owners say what size they have got? and what they look like fitted?
• eyelids/eyebrows, get those painted. don't like the look of the black bit above the headlights
• changing the front upper grill. I like it with that chrome strip in the middle. am I right in saying it just unscrews and pulls out?
• carbon fibre mirror caps

suppose that's about it for now... later I'm looking to get a reiger bodykit and small spoiler.

and who knows what else but all in good time and money

any advice or help would be greatly appreciated

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to give the interior a bit of zing? No idea is too small I want to hear them all!

New to the forum been lurking on E38 for a while, but I have now found where i belong  

Little bit of info about my build, like any keen enthusiast it was a case of mod now document later hence why its already halfway through completion.

Engine Spec: 1.2 TSI - Revo remap stage 1 - 140bhp 

                                   - Custom exhaust (no centre section)

                                   - Revo Air filter 

Exterior: - Roof Ariel delete & full repainted roof

              -  Blank Grill, Metal work on bonnet and fibre glassed bumper 

              - All plastics de-textured and sprayed gloss black 

              - Fog lights a rear lights tinted 

              - Currently on VW Eibach lowering springs 

              - Blacked rear badge

              - Front bumper smoothed, tow point and plate recess removed 

              - ClimAir wind deflectors  

Interior: - Carbon fibre rear view mirror 

             - New head unit with apple car play 

             - Random trim part additions ( key bezel, mats etc)

Random After market things: - Cruise control 

                                               - Detachable tow bar ..

Had my R-line for over a year now and its a great car to drive! It's the 1.2 TSI version and for a small turbo charged engine, it's very nippy! Since owning it, i've had such a blast and it's been excitement everyday... looking forward to driving to work and coming home from work.. best part of the day lol.

First day i got it at the show room!

Anyway since owning the car, as usual i can't help myself but fiddle with the car as it's not really yours until you make it yours!

I started by trying a few performance mods which included Forge Motorsport Dump valve and a oversized pod filter..

These made the car run absolutely crap and constantly brought up lights on the dash. It also reduced power i found and in the end, i found running stock to be the most efficient.

But of course i wanted more power so i looked around the net for a few companies to do remaps but since the car was still fairly new, there wasn't much available. However over on another forum i found big fish tuning run by a guy called John who sorted me out with a remap. Power hike and torque was increased to about 138bhp but dont have a RR printout as i got the RR done elsewhere. The car now feels much more aggressive in 1st and 2nd and overtaking on the motorway is a doddle even in 6th gear.

Usual upgrades with the 6R including:

GTI top and bottom grills,

Bonnet bra,

LED side lights and Fogs,

Plastidip wind mirror caps,

Eibach Pro Sport springs 30mm/40mm drop,

Euro Sport Exhaust system (Backbox with mid section removed)

The exhaust system sound awesome! It's probably one of the best things i enjoy hearing everyday. Even though its not a DSG gearbox, if you change gear in certain RPM's and especially on overboost the car will pop and let off a DSG fart lol. I've done a few videos which can be seen here:

Need to do a new video soon as i've since had a tune to take into a count of the exhaust system.

And finally my latest purchase was a set of Replica VW Projector Bi-Xenon headlights with 6000K HID's.

Next i'm thinking maybe a new set of wheels.. i did see some VW motorsport alloys in black for sale awhile back but unsure if i want to go for 17's.

My current plans are to just enjoy the car and get used to it first.

After driving my 9n3 with rubbish TA Tecnix coilovers, this things luxury for me!

But in time I'm hoping to get some AP coilovers wacked on, Thinking about Merc or Porsche wheels, Custom Straight through exhaust and possibly take it to stage 2 (intercooler, intake etc.)

Then had some crazy idea of running this static. Didnt last long before i destroyed the rear brake lines, so had to raise it up

Right so a month ago I bought a 2010 polo 6r 1.6tdi to replace my first car a lupo. The first few mods I have done are lowered it on fk coilovers, had it remapped by ecopower and changed all the lights to Xenon white light to give it a newer look I have a lot more planned and will keep the thread updated with photos and my future mods cheers jack

I don't have any pictures of the LED Conversion but when it gets dark later on I will get some snap shots an upload them to this build thread.

My next step I think is to put clear plastic rear bumper protector on aswell as the door sills. Thinking of clear wrapping the bonnet an front bumper to protect it I have a few ideas in mind like getting Lamin-X Yellow Protective Film for the bottom DRLs ... I will post as I go along.

I just wanted to share my polo, it has recently been lowered on Eibach Prostreet coilovers and then got me some Superturismo's

The rest of the car is stock except for the Scirocco Steering wheel, more updates soon!

Here is my Volkswagen Polo 6R 1.2ltr 70ps in White. Its my first ever Polo, and actually my first ever VW!

There won't be anything happening under the bonnet, i think the phrase is "you cant polish a turd".

It hasn't had a great lot done since purchasing it in June this year,

- Private Reg

- Climair Deflectors
- H&R 35mm / 55mm Springs

- Few Stickers & Whiter Bulb Changes
- The front badge has been sprayed Matt Black, with the chrome grill being sprayed GTI red (but decided to keep the original grill to keep the GTI FanBoys happy)

- The rear badge has also been sprayed Matt Black, with the black background now the same color as the body work.
- I've popped a Concept-RS front splitter on and sprayed that Gloss Black
- Sprayed Wrapped the front Fog lights a tint of yellow

- Managed to get a cheap set of private plates, but need to order some new ones to remove the GB badge

- And finally peppered the car in eBay stickers (StickerWhore!)

The above has taken from June too get too this stage, so the 'Project' will take time, and if I'm honest I'm not sure which direction I'm going...

Just having a look around this forum and seeing what tickles my pickle.
Future things will include some HID's, maybe a gloss black roof, remove the rear wiper blade and try and get a shorter ariel.

Any thoughts and opinions are VERY welcome! :)

Alloys will be coming along within the near future, when the funds are available, and when i find something that i want.
