Short Term Insurance

There has been alot of times where I have needed insurance for a day. Usually because I've wanted to buy a car from far away. Normally I have to uninsure my car, insure the new one and then drive it, uninsure it and then insure mine again. Cost alot of money and is a pain in the arse.

Finally found somewhere that will insure cars short term. Even european cover.

I have just insured the Polo for a day for £12.60. Which is pretty cheap really.

Its all done online aswell so you don't need to spend 2 weeks in a que waiting for someone to answer the bleeding phone!!

Unfortunately you have to be over 21 to be insured with them but none the less its still useful!

It is available to the public during the week (not sure about weekends) for all your questions. Get them to quote a paragragh or page number from the manual.

I recommend taking your car for MoT and then if it fails on the particular item you have researched then you can quote the paragraph/page number and ask them to re-test the vehicle as you have already contacted the enquirery line about the item in question.

DO NOT GO STRAIGHT IN AND SAY "I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ITEM AND THEY HAVE SAID THIS AND THAT"

Nobody likes to be told how to do their job and all you will achieve is getting the tester/testing station pissed off before the test, which is not a good thing!!

Scrapping cars

If you scrap a car or sell a car onto someone with the intention of it eventually going to be scrapped, make sure you declare it SORN first. This is particualry important if you have a car thats written off and the V5 is with the insurance company. Apparently they do not declare them SORN for you to the DVLA.

Excellent site, can setup car insurance for up to about 2 weeks.

Quite expensive but you can't fault how long it takes, print off certificate and your done!
