    • This year the  Polo Social is our 20th anniversary year to be held on 03/04/05 July 2020 it is put on by Club Polo which is open to all VW Polo owners from any Club.
So, if you are part of a local club bring everyone down and grab a spot in the field.

      What to Expect?
A relaxed event where you can catch up with other members, see their cars and meet new people from the club. Expect a big club meet which lasts the weekend with some beers and BBQs!
      What’s going on?
Details are yet to be finalised but plans are for the club BBQ to return on the Saturday night, Show and Shine on the Sunday. We are looking to have some things going Saturday daytime.
      Where is it?
The event is held at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton Billing, NN3 9DA. http://www.billingaquadrome.com/ Tel: 01524 781 453 We have held the event here for a number of years, it’s an excellent venue which really suits the club’s event. There is food available on site and there are also a couple of pubs and a Fish & Chips shop in walking distance. There is also the Mini-Golf, Karting and a leisure centre with a pool.
      What do you need?
If you are camping then you need the general camping gear of tent, sleeping bag, etc. If you want to clean your car up for the show and shine on the Sunday there is a cold-water supply so, bring your bucket and cleaning gear. Also bring some money but there is a cash machine by the entrance to the site.
How much does it cost and how to book?
If you are camping the rate is £TBA/night. A pitch is for a tent for up to 4 people, if you have extra cars they may charge you extra. If you are a paid up member there is a discounted rate details will be in the members only section soon https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/30-members-only/  To book head to http://www.billingaquadrome.com/ and click book now. Then please select Shelduck 2 as this is our field. If you are camping for just the Saturday night then its £TBA per pitch. You can book this online as per above but you might not be able to select Shelduck 2. Please select another field but just pitch up in the Shelduck 2 field with the rest of us when you arrive as there will be loads of room. The day rate is £10 per car.

    • It's that time of year again, we are looking for entries for the 2020 Club Polo calendar.
The rules are simple, just post up a picture, the picture must be one that you have taken (or you have the permission of the photographer to use it) and you must be able to send me a high res or raw version.
We as always want well thought out scenic photos.
There are 12 months plus a cover picture that we need to fill. If you have a specific month you'd like to see your picture if it were chosen then by all means let us know when submitting your entry.

Checked it all over. Can't find any signs of a leak on the tank, that is solid.  I think, i may have missed the outlet on top of the gauge sender end of the breather and overtightened the clamp. Think that caused a build up at the filler neck end of the breather, and that caused the leak on the old, tired pipe. I've changed for a new, snug fitting pipe and all seems good so far.

So I'm looking at getting a new car and have been looking at the 1.4tsi Polo GTI 6R. They look like good value at around £6k (or £4.5k for the seat ibiza Bocanegra with same engine).    I'm looking at ones with mileage around the 70-90k mark. How are these cars with higher mileage in terms of the DSG box etc. What are the cars like in general as well? Seen they can be modified up to 230bhp reasonable easily

The blower isn't working at all in my bready and the knob moves up and down very loosely. Previously it only worked on position 3. Assuming the resistor is the issue does anyone know is this the correct part?   https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-Polo-Mk2-1-0-Petrol-Heater-Blower-Fan-Resistor-2/174017466313?hash=item28843fcfc9:g:0d8AAOSwWm5dbZoA     How easy is it to fit? Rain cover off, couple of screws and a plug??   Cheers 🙂   EDIT# saw this one on heritage site looks totally different and 4x price https://www.heritagepartscentre.com/uk/867959131-heater-blower-resistor.html   or non genuine https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Regulator-VEMO-Fits-VW-Multivan-T5-Polo-Classic-T4-867959131/163249634344?hash=item26026fbc28:g:-mUAAOSwd0pd37ma

The threads of that plug are contaminated with engine oil, this is due to the plugs being recessed into the cylinder head where a small amount of oil quite often collects. If this oil is not soaked up in a cloth before removing the plug(s), the result will be as in your example, it is also possible that some oil will drain down into the cylinder(s).   Are you sure that the carpet isn't wet near to the heater?   Is there any signs of water vapour in the exhaust gas WHEN THE ENGINE IS GOO AND HOT? If so, that could indicate a internal leak (Ignore any water vapour before the engine is really hot, this would likely be caused by condensation.   Other indications could be traces of water 'bubbles' in the oil on the dipstick. A build up of gunge (generally referred to as 'mayo' inside the valve cover (under the oil filler cap) may indicate an internal leak, but again this could also be caused by condensation, particularly if the car is used mainly for short journeys - You may not even have that problem in your part of the world.   If you are quite sure that there are no obvious leaks, it might be a good idea to clean the valve in the expansion tank filler (or simply fit a new cap)   If you still have problems, I would suggest that you ask a local trusted garage to carry out a 'sniffer test' - This involves sampling the air in the expansion tank for traces of hydrocarbons. A compression test might also indicate a problem. The presence of hydrocarbons and/or one or more cylinders with low compression pressure may indicate a failed head gasket.   Regards

I'd a tear in the passenger one years ago and it seemed to let water in 🤔    Few more wee jobs sorted yesterday, went to tackle the clocks, same issue with speedo cable, having to do it by feel, didn't want to waste the time I had fighting with it it so put everything back together to do again. Replaced the washer hose so that's working again, took out the top row of fuses and cleaned round them and the holder. Radio working again.......yeo! Gave the trim another quick autoglym, front bumper is quite bad, hoping that doing this regularly will eventually bring it up.
