Mk2 Polo Grinding Noise on Engine

My polo has been making this grinding noise at idle and at a slightly higher revs

hard to tell really...cam belt sounds a bit tight

 

you can whip the alternator belt off to eliminate that

Have removed alternator belt and the noise is still there and the timing belt is adjusted correctly to 90 degrees with finger and thumb.

Welli have done the cambely and water pump and had to replace the water pump twice due to faulty parts

yeah sounds like the belt or pump to me really..

 

could try it a tiny bit slacker to see if it helps?    is it a known brand water pump?  and check all the teeth mesh properly as theres 2 styles of cambelt teeth , so could possibly be running a mismatch of parts?

That is a v tech water pump from gsf and im pretty sure the belt matches up with the pulleys, i took the pump off last night and it had a little bit of play and a clunk noise when moving the pulley so changing that tonight.
