    • This year the  Polo Social is our 20th anniversary year to be held on 03/04/05 July 2020 it is put on by Club Polo which is open to all VW Polo owners from any Club.
So, if you are part of a local club bring everyone down and grab a spot in the field.

      What to Expect?
A relaxed event where you can catch up with other members, see their cars and meet new people from the club. Expect a big club meet which lasts the weekend with some beers and BBQs!
      What’s going on?
Details are yet to be finalised but plans are for the club BBQ to return on the Saturday night, Show and Shine on the Sunday. We are looking to have some things going Saturday daytime.
      Where is it?
The event is held at Billing Aquadrome, Northampton Billing, NN3 9DA. http://www.billingaquadrome.com/ Tel: 01524 781 453 We have held the event here for a number of years, it’s an excellent venue which really suits the club’s event. There is food available on site and there are also a couple of pubs and a Fish & Chips shop in walking distance. There is also the Mini-Golf, Karting and a leisure centre with a pool.
      What do you need?
If you are camping then you need the general camping gear of tent, sleeping bag, etc. If you want to clean your car up for the show and shine on the Sunday there is a cold-water supply so, bring your bucket and cleaning gear. Also bring some money but there is a cash machine by the entrance to the site.
How much does it cost and how to book?
If you are camping the rate is £TBA/night. A pitch is for a tent for up to 4 people, if you have extra cars they may charge you extra. If you are a paid up member there is a discounted rate details will be in the members only section soon https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/30-members-only/  To book head to http://www.billingaquadrome.com/ and click book now. Then please select Shelduck 2 as this is our field. If you are camping for just the Saturday night then its £TBA per pitch. You can book this online as per above but you might not be able to select Shelduck 2. Please select another field but just pitch up in the Shelduck 2 field with the rest of us when you arrive as there will be loads of room. The day rate is £10 per car.

We as always want well thought out scenic photos.

There are 12 months plus a cover picture that we need to fill. If you have a specific month you'd like to see your picture if it were chosen then by all means let us know when submitting your entry.

      update since last post;

      -Passed MOT!!!
-four new tires fitted, firestone multihawk 2
      -passenger seatbelt replaced
-radio not working, though was a hatchet job as its actually from a 1980 ford escort. also the front speakers have been ripped out at some stage revealing why it was so quiet.
-passenger 'window regulator' broke, new parts being ordered soon, easy job an hour tops.
-discovered how high beams work, turns out they aren't anaemic and i am an idiot.
-fuel issue persists, garage cant find anything without taking the tank out. when the time comes i'll just replace the tank as a whole, obviously its a tiny hole high up but unable to confirm. currently filling up to 8 1/2 gallons and its working out fine

Hello all, this is my first post. I bought a mk2f saloon last september, previously modified by the person i bought it from in the style of the US ski team (i dont know why... but it was fun)  Anyway since buying it i have done a number of things, namely taking the skis off of the roof and replacing the ski pole gear stick (hahaha) for a normal one. Things i've also done: Changed petrol tank, fixed gear linkage, filled rust hole underneath battery (my foot got wet while driving in the rain), service (new plugs and filters all round), fitted rally fog lights   My current issue is electrical. I thought i had a weak battery as it wasn't starting quite regularly, so a while ago i changed the battery. But this didn't seem to fix the issue and after having it hooked up to the mains for a couple weeks i found a scrap yard near me which luckily had a mk2f coupe sitting there, so i took the alternator off of that one and replaced mine. That seemed to do the trick immediately after, giving the battery charge, yet the charging system warning light has now come on on the dash, where as it wasn't there when i did have issues! I tested it with a multimeter and my tests seemed to show that the alternator was working, but now the same thing is happening, if the caf is left for a day or more then it won't start when i next go back to it.   By the way this is my first car, and i'm learning everything on it, so bear with me if my knowledge is lacking!

key needs to be in crank not just on ...like i said can be checked from above easily
    • Eviljohn
I need to recheck as i did it in a rush. The battery check was accurate, so long as i had the key in the right position, electrics on but not engine, but i can't say i 100% got the correct terminal on the starter. I'm fairly certain but really need to recheck properly.  I do have electronic ignition in place. Car is 1983, but the early one. With awkward parts!  I didn't/wasn't able to test the starter while cranking the engine but will do that when i do the recheck.

The 8mm stud at to top is permanent 12v from battery (and 14v from alternator once running).   1.2 volt is weird. Would think it would be zero unless cranking the engine that sends current to starter solenoid. Might there be a resistor lead to drop voltage to the coil to 11volts ish - old design saves points. But you now have electronic ignition right? What year Polo?
