    high revs with twin 40s

Nah, think I'll wait for the SpeedyKnock.
  3. Rear black brakes discs are alot hotter than the front discs, is that normal? The new rear discs look super clean, the brakes see to have fulled removed black paint The new front discs dont look as clean, can still see the brake line marks.

    high revs with twin 40s

just been reading a few forum threads , think the ks3 is fine for 99 octane. you thinking of buying one?

    high revs with twin 40s

Does the ethanol prevent the knock or just hide the symptom? Pinking okay. Det bad.
  6. i think i got the cheaper module. there only seems to be one socket for audio lead that goes into the bosch sensor. i got ks3. £282 think the professional ones have that option. it's all a rip off. they use a basic chip, fancy casing and slap 320 pounds for the professional version. even mines a rip off probably. so i could have paid £40 more for head phone compatibility.

so i paid £300 quid for something that struggles to read knock on higher octane lol. i use 99 octane unleaded. e85 is 109 octane?

  9. Can you record the sound that the Ks3 detects. Do a run, look at wav file in Audacity? Tweak it, repeat. See http://tunernerd.com/knock-monitor-pro/

    high revs with twin 40s

For me induction noise and solid lifters. I just stick to safe limits (35 to 37 for bowl in piston on 95 unleaded) from 3000 up. https://www.firstfives.org/faq/timing/timing_for_modified_engines.PDF Tommo used a tube and ear defenders. It's quite a distinctive sound (mini-anvil ringing clatter) Does Phormula Ks3 have any instructions online?

    Distributor wiring

Sorry may of worded it wrong, (more than likely it's me being retarded) it's this connection arrowed, to negative on coil.

    Distributor wiring

It goes to the connection on the contact breaker the same as the wie that goes to the coil , it's to suppress the sparking across the points as they open

What Did You Do To Your Polo Today?

Fiddled with air correctors. Looked at the choke cable microswitch terminals, shrugged, refit the lower dash which has been in the rear footwell. Searched high and low for one screw that had gone missing.
  19. Evening all, I want to bench run my 1100 hb engine, but forgot where the wire from the condenser on vac adv dizzy goes, is it to negative? Thanks

Forgot I had gone down to 180ish airs. Back to 200 and it's sweet and crisp at 13.3 minimum 12.3. Might even try 210, but it is cooler today.

  23. Well I'll be danged.. 3mm white LED below a blue cover in 1992 http://smg.photobucket.com/user/early-1800/media/Cabrio LED/shield_zps06371b36.jpg.html https://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php?page=topicview&id=how-to_2%2Freplacing-dash-leds There is a 3 pin voltage regulator (down to 5 volts I think) on the side of the flexible circuit board on the clocks too.

1993 2f clocks Main beam tell tale

If you replace it with a Blue LED you'd need to put a resistor (435 ohms) in series with it too limit the current flow https://www.componentshop.co.uk/led-exp/ https://www.componentshop.co.uk/leds/ultra-bright/5-mm-wide-angle.html
  25. I'm pretty sure the voltage regulator is OK, I'm getting 13 something volts when the engine is running. I use the headlights if it's heavy rain, and dark, say in the evening. The tell tale bulb works, but it's really dim. It's been gradually getting worse for some time. I'm pretty sure the tell-tale is a filament bulb with a blue cap. I think the bulb has darkened with age as the filament is going. See (Blue LEDs, and white LEDs may have been commercially available in 1993, however I can't imagine VW using one in an instrument panel, the costs would have been prohibitive. It would have been like buying my first CD burner in 2000 for £220, and they were being sold in 2003 for £30) Looking at the golf video, it looks like the clocks have to be dismantled to get at the bulb! I was hoping for a simple fix. I might see if there is a club member nearby who can help me dismantle them - I don't want to trash a good set of rev counter clocks. For a solution, would a blue LED be OK? If it's replacing a bulb, would there be a risk of blowing the LED?

    ignition timing mk2

Latest map Gone down to 30 (+5 static) as now on Unleaded 95, not Momentum99 due to Ethanol crusting phase separation.
  27. dvderlm

    high revs with twin 40s

Timing light for the static and the Aldon Amethyst to set dizzy to TDC +5 exactly. For the curve shape I go by feeling when I drive certain well known corners or hills.
