Hi All, Just a quick intro, I'm here as I'm helping a friend keep his Mk2 Polo on the road... he's not the most internet savvy! I've had numerous VWs along the road... Mk1&2 Golfs, Mk2 Polo Coupe, Vento, Bora... so know my way around a bit. I'm looking for a 4 Speed gearbox for his car, and this seemed like a great place to start.
  3. Hi all, in need of some urgent help as I’m currently stuck. The selector that moves about and is attached to the gearbox with 2 bolts and connects to the mechanism coming off the gear shifter snapped tonight whilst in second. I can’t locate the part anywhere for the life of me apart from attached to gearboxes for sale. The car in question is a mk1 X reg Arosa with the ALD engine. I’ve been reading all night on different gearboxes but there’s seems to be a multitude of answers. So basically my questions are what is the part called? How much are they? and what gearboxes are a direct fit to the ALD? My release bearing doesn’t sound to great so I don’t mind replacing the gearbox and clutch at the same time as motorway cruising is a fuel killer as I’m sure you all know. I’ve been reading the 1.4 8v box fits? As I’ve seen people say they have the 1.0 box on the 1.4? I’ve found a 1.4 8v 6n box relatively close and what I’m assuming would be cheaper than a new part.
  4. idle is okay - bit lean at 16-17 - need bigger idle jets 1/2 - 3/4 throttle perfect 13.8- 14:7 - you can feel car feels right - feels easy, power but very light throttle, feathering , seems boggy afr is around 11.5 , so going up hill 11.3 ish, so then i give it more throttle 50-70% throttle -afr shoots up even up hill up to 13.5 and feels like it is right again. is it supposed to be like that. all these readings are when everything is super warm. thats when i noticed it the most. using TPS load on megajolt
  5. Hello everyone! I noticed that my steering column moces in and out about an inch, or maybe two. What could be the problem? Thank you in advance!
  6. Hi all, I've just bought a Genuine VW Polo 9N3 roof rack for a 5dr polo (Part No.6Q5 071 126 A) It came with what I thought was everything I need however upon downloading the fitting instructions apparently there are four auxiliary profiles that need to be fitted before the roof rack. I don't have these - has one fitted these without them? Looks like it might scratch the paint work without them. Does anyone have any available to buy? I guess you might be able to make something up, like a rubber insert but without a better indication of what they are / look like its difficult to say. Many Thanks in advance Jody

    Polo 9n 1.9tdi PD Sport

Just upgraded to my next Polo. Wanted a quicker one which I has more scope for mods so I bought this without even going to see it. Only has 46k miles on and has the bulletproof 1.9tdi PD engine. This one also is my favourite colour. I get my licence back in September ( I lost it for medical reasons) but in the meantime I have done some subtle mods which I will continue to do until I can start going all out with engine tuning, new brakes etc (insurance companies won't allow me to do so yet). So so far I have added: Montreal 2 alloys Few stickers Sony stereo New interior lighting Number plate lights New heater control knobs 9n3 GTI gear stick I have also just purchased a 9n3 GTI steering wheel, it sounds strange putting Gti trim into a diesel but I like the OEM style of things. I can easy remove the Gti badge and replace with a blank badge. Will be more photos to come and any feedback would be much appreciated.
  8. I'm running stock springs (1 coil cut out all round 15-20m low) and stock shocks at the moment on my 84 bready. I like having the travel on the stock springs because my local routes have shite bumps. I just want better damping performance and more progressive shocks for the roll. Has anyone tried these shocks? I would consider getting sportier springs too but its my daily so not that fussed, its already fun right now while feeling chilled to drive, crashy thumps wise. Also just to mention i have a pair of powerflex ARB polly bushings if anyone wants them off me. Cheers
  9. Can I get some help guys ? At times when driving my 99 6n will cut the engine and throw on the battery light ? Starts fine with a flick of the key ???? I’m thinking a bad earth but I’ve no idea lol any help ??
  10. Hi All. I am getting upset with the issue that I am facing with my car. 1.0 engine petrol manual. After igniting the engine the rev is at approx. 1200 when it was 700. When I press gas to 1550 then release the revs drops to even 600 then jumps back. Mostly it happens on cold engine. Other thing. When I a. On 2nd or 3rd gear with rev on 2500-3000 then put into neutral the engine can switch off. 3 garages could not find the issue. Attached video with rev issue. Thanks. Luk Ps I could not attached video so I upload it. Link here https://youtu.be/oXdHdJ8i62s
  11. Looking for some advice with a problem I've had on my polo since I've owned it. The dash doesn't read the outside temperature. I've tried replacing the 2 sensors on the drivers side behind the bumper but no joy. Just wondered if anyone knew of any other sensors or have fixed this problem before? Cheers
  12. I have just noticed a fuel leak from my 86 saloon and fuel appears to be leaking from the fixed metal pipe from the filler cap to the tank. Is this a very common issue and where is the best place to buy a new fuel tank.
  13. Hi, I have a Polo 6R 2013 with 1.2 TSI 105HP (CBZ) engine. I have a weird knocking/ticking noise especially on cold starts. It started around 2016... about 2-3 years after getting the car. You can hear it here between 0:03-0:04: Sometimes it lasts for around 1-2 seconds but not more than that. Anyone knows what it is? Thanks.
  14. Hey, I've recently bought a 2015 VW Polo (SE), and was just wondering whether any of yous have retrofitted the discover navigation pro multimedia system (MIB2), and whether that's something a newbie to car upgrades would be able to do? If not, do any of you have recommendations of garages I could go to, in order to get that system retrofitted? Also just wondering how feasible it would be to get these upgrades: Reversing camera from the VW Logo on the boot, OPS parking sensors And the cruise control, Thanks!
  15. Seen this video of a mk2 with modded levers, anyone know whats going on here? Id love to change since the mk2 ones are so flimsy

    My VW polo BlueGT

Hi All, I’m new to the forum! So ive had my BlueGT for just over a week and I absolutely love it! Anyway i I have one little issue with it, well not so much an issue, I just need reassuring that it’s normal! Basically I'm a little concerned at how hard the ride is and that I can feel everything and every little imperfection of the road through the steering wheel? Is this normal on the Blue GT? All replies much appreciated.
  18. Im loving my 84 1.3 polo, its great on the narrow backroads near me.. but I don't feel like I've got the best out of it handling wise. I've got some 14/6j wheels on which started with 195/45 toyo proxies, and now some other 185/55s which ride much better. Also full poly bushings. Sofar i've tried 60/40 H&R cup suspension all round, i found it too harsh and basically track oriented which wasnt working. Next up new stock shocks with kilen 40mm springs, not much better... it wasn't so low and softer but the dampening and lack of travel just didn't feel great. I'm now back to completely stock with a coil cut out the fronts. I've played with the tire pressures loads, currently at around 28. As it is now feels the closest in terms of 'actually go around a countryside corner spiritedly' simply because this soft suspension absorbs some bumps, but not well enough! When going round a corner the current problem is the front wheels really lean over and start to skip and chatter sideways. Theres obviously loads of body roll, and also it just handles the very very small bumps like crap, the things that make your boot thump... that kind of bump. Large bumps are great, its a very comfortable car but it rumbles along the road. I know its a light car but there must be some modern tricks to really help this things ride? The goal being a smooth ride with reduced body roll and better front end grip. I'm trying to think of the best option for it... PPP Stage 2 subframe with the arb blocks does sound like a good idea, definitley on the list to help the front end. I can see H&R 35mm springs and a few other brands for sale too but all similar, a different pair of lowering springs again on stock shocks, is that the answer? Air ride??? Better shocks? like what? Can you guys give me your best advice on what road setups you've had and the best things to go for. Air ride with the subframe does sound like it could be dreamy but its a pricey decision. Cheers!

  20. I am in the process of rebuilding a 1.3 engine for my mk2 polo, and am about to fit the camshaft and time it up. However I am unsure which of the two key ways on the cam the pulley is supposed to lock into to allow the timing marks to be correct. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks, Jordan

Ps it has a egr delete It I think it’s the wrong one as I think it should have the asv attracted as that’s what the cable is for...... when I did the delete that plug was never plugged in and there was no asv there either
