  1. Hi, apologies if this is the wrong section of the forum (im new to posting here, long time lurker) i have a polo 9n 1.2 3 cylinder, i have heard that it is possible to swap the throttle bodies from that of a mk4 golf, is there a specific engine size from the golf that i need to get it from or will they all fit, i dont know if the golfs use a universal size or they change with engine size which i assume, any help will be appreciated. also i have had trouble of finding exhaust systems that will fit the car, i have a quote of 150 to get a custom backbox made by hand, however is there any full catback systems that you guys use on your polo's many thanks,

  6. Hi guys i know iv been quiet on here for a very long time sins i sold my last polo which i dropped the GT engine in but now im back with a question for the guru's here as i have found a lot of conflicting information scattered about the internet regarding this. First of all let me start out by saying im looking at doing about 3 different engine conversions at the moment and dont want to waste my time / effort on the polo if its not going to work anyway as i have a e36 BMW to take a 318i 8v engine out of and put a 318is 16v stroked engine in for definite. Along with that i may be helping a mate of mine convert his k10 micra 1.2 to a 1.6 from a almera. Which leaves me with 2 possible engine swaps which only 1 of can be done. Iv got a 1.6 AEE MPI engine which has some kind of performance cam sat on my garage floor at the moment which came from a 1996 mk3 golf which i stripped kept the engine as i know the AEE is known as a fairly tune able engine with someone pushing one to 240BHP anyway once i had a better look at it i realized it looked a lot like the AAV / 3F engines i had pulled out / put in my old polo. Then as luck would have it again a MK2F came up for sale locally and i managed to swap a BMW e36 vader full interior for it which worked out in the sellers favor anyway as he wanted £450 for the mk2f and he sold the vader interior for £750 which in my opinion is cheap still as iv seen vader interior sell for £1500+ But anyway i then started searching to see if this AEE would fit the mk2f i just acquired turns i google can't seem to find me a definite answer the closest iv got to an answer is this thread on club polo: https://www.clubpolo.co.uk/topic/13935-converting-a-gt-to-a-14-and-16/?page=7&tab=comments#comment-1168668 Which works out well for me as i still have the mk3 golf this engine came from and i have a complete mk2f with a 1.0 AAU in which has just had a new clutch by my understanding if i fit the following parts to the AEE from the AAU it should fit: flywheel clutch starter (or possibly a slimline starter off a 1994) gearbox (wouldn't use the 4 speed off the 1.0 would use my old AAV 5spd box which only has 65k miles on it which would mean i need a 5spd gearbox mount for a mk2f) alternator pulley crank pulley bit of shaving of metal and plastic and jobs a gooden Obviously the rest of that guide i can disregard as im not converting it to a GT im just getting the AEE to fit and i have a complete engine not just a bare engine so i have the inlet manifold and everything with the engine. however im pretty sure there is going to wiring issues getting the AEE's loom to mate up with the mk2f loom and also the AAU is SPI so would need a better fuel pump for the AEE same as when i went from AAV to 3F on my old polo If for some reason someone knows why this won't work please let me know and i will just dump this AEE in another mk3 golf that has a 1.8 ADZ engine but its slow and sluggish compared to this AEE Also on another note the golf with the AEE in came with a clutch kit as the clutch had almost gone (bite right at the top of the pedal and a little slip) now luckily my mk2f had just had a new clutch before i got it but i have looked it up online and the AEE clutch is 24 tooth 200mm and the mk2f uses a 24 tooth 190mm clutch i know its a long shot but who reckons the AEE clutch disc 200mm will fit inside the mk2f 190mm pressure plate? and work as i read from somewhere the mk2f clutches don't handle the AEE power very well and burn out fast so kinda hoping if for some chance the AEE clutch disc fits the mk2f pressure plate that the extra 10mm diameter will help it cope with the power better. Thanks everyone
  7. Where to start??? (i'll make it as short as possible) Noise when idling which goes away once clutch is depressed.. After much research possibly two culprits; 1. release bearing. 2. input shaft bearing. Took gearbox out to GEARBOX SPECIALIST who gave it a external examine (spinning & listening to the moving parts) Advised by said specialist to change clutch as it could be just that and it may be more cost effective as, if he opens it up and finds nothing it'll cost, popped new clutch it, got gearbox on (replaced gear oil) started car, noise still there but a little quieter (a little). So new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, release fork, gear oil. ***Not fixed** input shaft bearing guys? I don't wanna take the gearbox off again if it isn't that So noise at idle, clutch down = no noise Has anyone had a similar issue? p.s I have a spare clutch now
  8. Okay, haven't posted in ages but have the strangest of problems and need the worlds polo brain power - 64 plate polo 6R - 18k miles. When cycling the key ( it also does it when you reconnect the battery ) the strings 4 "chirps" come from the passenger side of the dash. Always normally 4 chirps, normally the same length but sometimes vary. Sounds like a muted buzzer. No faults in VAGcom. Car starts, drives and appears to work perfectly. Whether its related or not but the interior lights have packed up. No power at the connector in the light unit. Now the manual seems to suggest the interior light fuses are shared with the left and right hand car exterior lights. All other lights on the car work fine, and it appears all the fuses are intact. Ive attached a video of the noise whilst cycling the key - FIRST TO GUESS THE NOISE CORRECTLY WINS A VIRTUAL CERTIFICATE " Best strange polo noise detective in UK" Thanks
  9. Hi I own a 1995 6n polo and was looking for good sounding exhausts that fit my car if anyone has any recommendations It would be much appreciated, it doesn't matter how much it costs
  10. Hi everyone, if anyone could help me diagnose my problem that would be amazing! I'm sure its down to something electrical? I have recently got back hold of the car (off road since'15) I had her firing a few times but running naff (always near enough flooding) so since these things I have changed; spark plugs, battery, replaced 1 HT lead (misfire), dizzy cap, oil sensor, blue and black coolant temp sensors, full service (oil, air & fuel) and also added and exhaust system. I have also added a gasket to the throttle body which was missing and fixed the one which sits between this and the carb (thick black one). Only after getting this far with the car today I've managed to see how bad the carbs flooding, if anyone has any ideas what it could be please let me know OR if you get the nail on the head I will PP you a beer token! :) Many thanks video here -

  12. Hello all, I have a polo 1.4 diesel 6n2 (not GTi) originally comes with drums on the rear, what rear axle fits so I can have disc brakes.? Cheers Sophie
  13. Hi guys any information on this would be much appreciated, my 1l polo has been having intermittent problems for a while and now I'm not running it because it's just too annoying having to wait 10-20 minutes to let's it cool off before it runs.... It has been serviced and has had lots of parts put on it such as new leads, a complete new distributor including rotary arm and cap, new coil pack I've drained the cooling system completely and refilled, it's had new temp sensors put on it and I've tested the fan works with a hair grip across the terminals and it runs, have swap out the sensor in the radiator with another one I have which hasn't helped, there are no fuses blown so I am a bit lost with it now. Before I changed the distributor it wouldn't restart straight away but now it fires after cutting out and runs until it cuts out with no warning, my temperature gauge stopped working after swapping out the temp sensors I don't think this is related in any way, the car used to bunny hop a little bit now and again ages ago, it also had a loss of power while driving in gear and cutting out... That's all I can think of currently if I think of anything else I will add it in later! Thanks in advance for any advice, Billy.
  14. Hi everyone Was hoping that I could get some advice on where I could locate an official spare front grille for my Polo gt? official parts are prohibitively expensive, eBay doesn’t have the right part thanks
  15. Hello, I am currently replacing the door cards in my 2001 Polo 6n2 5dr. I have successfully removed the old door card but I can't seem to figure out how the replacement one attaches (with the inner door handle being just below where the lock operating knob is). If anyone can help me out it will be much appreciated as I need them back on ASAP. Thank you Matthew

    Mind the GAP

I just wanted to highlight a product in the Chris Knott range that will benefit some members when buying a new or nearly new car. Chris Knott GAP Cover is important if you'd like to replace your car with another one at the original value following a total loss claim. Highly competitive, this protection is likely to be vastly cheaper than your car dealer's equivalent offering. What is Chris Knott GAP cover? You may have heard of Finance GAP or Return To Invoice (RTI) GAP but Chris Knott's GAP is a combination of the best of both those worlds... In the event of a total loss, your motor insurer will only pay you the market value of your vehicle at the time of the loss. However, you may have outstanding finance owing on the vehicle which is greater than that market value. In any case you'll get back less than you paid for, or owe, on the vehicle. This insurance covers you for 3 years and pays you the difference between your motor insurer's payout and the outstanding finance amount OR the net purchase invoice price (WHICHEVER IS GREATER) so you can buy another car for the original value. Low cost, high value Cover starts at just £117.85 for 3 year's cover - that's about £39 per year for great peace of mind. Even a £50,000 vehicle only costs £216.22! Get a quote See how affordable Chris Knott GAP Cover could be for you at https://www.chrisknott.co.uk/GAP/?ref=clubs or call us on 0800 917 2274. best, Nick PS. Cover must be arranged within the first 90 days of ownership but is available for all vehicles less than 8 years old with less than 80,000 miles on the clock at the start of the policy. *** GAP Testimonials "I've been with Chris Knott for quite a few years including both the XE and the previous XF, plus my other runabouts. Also insured modified cars with them in the past with no hassle. Got my GAP insurance through CKI as it was a lot cheaper than Jaguar's own quote and others, too. They've always been the best for service, speed and price..." Pete McK, JagInfo "Just a quick one, covered my ST earlier with Chris Knott's GAP Insurance...it took me 5 minutes for a quote online and about 10 minutes on the phone to finalise. The lady I spoke to was great and managed to answer everything I asked..." titchytom86, FiestaST OC

    Newbie, or am I?

Hi All, Newbie here, picking up a second car soon and looking to learn more about it ('09 MK7 Polo Match) and how it differs from the S and SE models. Seems this is the right place? Tell me, is this the old Porka site that was run by Robin and Cam many years ago? I'm 33 now and used the Porka site a lot when I first started driving, my first car was a MK3. Not a clue what my username would have been some 15 years ago. Thanks, Brydo.

    Hello from Norfolk!

Hello everyone I'm new to the forum, and I've recently bought my first VW (finally!) It's a 1997 Polo Saloon 1.6 L, which I believe to be a 6nk2? An old lady in my area traded it in for a newer model, so I snapped it up as it's been looked after well for the past 20 years! I've never modified my previous cars due to them being a Yaris and a Micra but I've got plans for it already! I'll post progress pictures? See you around!
  24. Hi lads, ive just fitted Gti Xenons to my 6n2 Polo. I need to aim them a little higher but the electric motor doesnt lift them high enough. The manual adjustment cog/gears are shredded, do i just need to replace those and turn clockwise a bit or could i damage something else by doing this? Thanks guys Paul
  25. Hi, just wondering if there is an ecu on this as I’m looking at buying a 1989 mk2 polo s. Been quoted insurance for a black box but I don’t understand how they would fit it if there is no ecu? Thanks for any help.
