  1. After years of wanting one and a year of looking for one I've finally got one!! It's got high mileage, 165,000, but the engine runs nice and smooth. It's a bit tatty around the edges but it's probably the best condition polo I've bought yet - saying that's probably going to come back and bite me. Well we did a 2 hour drive to go and pick it up and me and my dad couldn't smile wide enough! There's a bit of rust on the arches, very minor, and minor rust on a few panels. When we got it home I went to open the door and the door handle came off - was no screw holding it in. The speakers don't work, simple wiring job. But the wheels are feking amazing condition! Don't even look like they've been refurbed just really clean! The plans for this year: *Fix door handle - probably do that tomorrow weather permitting *Fix speakers - tomorrow *Cambelt, oil change - general stuff when you buy a car. *Gradually get each panel sorted, can do panel by panel as colour match isn't vital as long as it's near enough. *But some 16v seats to steal the foam out of as the foam in the current seats has long gone - no tears though, well a tiny one. *Machine polish it. Only got one photo at the moment was to excited to take photos! Polished the wing and bumper and they came up nicely. The colours are really vibrant in person! Should be going to ultimate dubs next sunday in it.

Back in a Polo Gti 6n2

Hi guys so am back in a Polo Gti after 6years. My last Polo was built for a Fast road/ Track Car and was unreal. It had Comp Mo5’s, Bmc with custom intake, fully Poly Bushed, front upper and lower strut brace, rear upper strut brace, striped out interior and a PhilJ Suspension My New Gti is fully standard and has Full-service history, but it was going to get broke and scraped so I bought the car knowing it had a broken Gearbox. So things am doing to it: Fix the Box G60 Brakes Full respray over the winter (freshen up the paint and get rid of the lacquer peal. Then I need to decide to build another fast road car or keep it original? Also does PhilJ still do suspensions?

    Polo 2000 Manual

Hello, I'm wondering are there download-able versions of Polo 2000 Service and User manuals? Recently I have got one, and I'd like to learn more on how it works and to become less addicted to service repairs. I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum. If it is, please direct me to the right one. Thank you!
  4. I am trying to undo the dogbone mount bolt but it is not budging. 16 spanner on both and I am turning the nut anti clockwise? Is this right direction, because I feel if I try any hard I am going to round the bolt.
  5. In the engine bay back wall there is a carpet material. Is this just for sound proofing or something more? Can I strip it out?
  6. Hi, I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have a VW Polo 9N3 1.2 S 64 which comes with central locking. However I do not have remote central locking so I decided to purchase a comfort control module, model number 6Q0 959 433 E,which I believe can receive remote signals. However when I looked under my dash I noticed that I have a completely different module and have no idea on how to remove it. The current CCM module Model I have in my car is 6Q1 937 049 D. I have not seen any video tutorials or guides with my specific CCM model, but I have read numerous amounts of forums which say replacing the 9N3 CCM's are really easy to replace and that thhe model I purchased will fit right in. I do mot think this is the case for my car :( How would I go about getting remote central locking? Thanks!

  11. Hi all, I'm sure this has already been covered but I can't seem to find the relevant thread, if I've missed one please push me in the right direction... Looking at getting a mk2 polo coupe s and wanted to do some research into engine swaps, I know one of the more popular swaps is the 1.4 16V AFH, but as you can't seem to find them anymore I was wondering if anyone has swapped the 1.6 16V from the 6n2 GTI. I've seen lots of people doing AFH/GTI hybrids but didn't know if there was space for the full 1.6 lump. Any other ideas welcome and sarcasm appreciated! Cheers!

  17. Hello. Been the proud owner of a 6n2 gti for about 2 years now. Had some intermittent starting issues recently especially when re feeling. I was told it could be the duel fuel pumps. Not sure as I never managed to get a definite answer!! Any ways. I’ve been looking at doing an engine swap. I’m a weekend mechanic with limited experience. I’m sure I couldn’t do it and get it right. Got a quote from one company that do it all in! £10k!! So that’s out the window. Does anyone have any suggestions. I don’t want to spend too much! But I love this car!!! Help. Gary

    Wanted: Polo Genesis engine

Hi guys First of all, let me say that I am excited to be part of this forum, even though I am thousands of kms away. I'm from Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm the owner of, what I think might be, the only Polo Genesis in S.A. Some might think that it's a good thing but when it comes to sourcing replacement parts, it sucks. That is why I joined this forum, hoping that I could get some much needed assistance from you guys. If someone could help me with exporting/importing parts at reasonable prices I would be a happy chappy. For starters, I will need a complete engine setup. Now I don't know much about the history of the Genesis but I believe it had a 1.3 motor under the bonnet. At this point I would settle for anything... 1.3, 1.6 etc... The only other option would be to drop a local VW Golf motor into the bay but that will require some modification and honestly that is the last resort. So... if anyone can assist, please contact me either on the forum or via faiez.raffie@gmail.com Hoping to hear from you soon.
  19. hi all, I've recently picked up a 77 mk1 and the drive back at 2 am on the m6 with no street lighting and inches away from temporary crash barriers was airy to say the least, according to manual, h/lamp bulbs are 40/45w, can I just do a straight swop and fit uprated h4 60/55w bulbs or is there more to it. cheers..

    Cheers from Serbia

Hi everyone. I'm Pavle from Belgrade, Serbia. Fresh owner of a polo mk2f breadvan and became a fan instantly. I found this forum in surfing through web sites and looking for some techical books and spare parts for my new family member. I already had some fun reading few topics and I hope it will be only better here in this century when all forums died. Cheers!
  21. Right, so I'm mid way through my Mk2 breadys engine conversion, it is my first engine conversion so its took some figuring out so far, but I'm nearly ready for engine in except for a couple of little bumps in the road. So to start off with I've got APQ 1.4 8v apq engine and DOW 5 speed box to go with it, and I'm swapping it for my old 1litre 4speed, so far everything fits or transfers across seen as the engines are nearly identical, I'm ditching the injection system and running it with the original 1 litre head and a 1300 golf carb, everything fits nicely and that bits all sorted, the problems are, 1. Main coolant pipe from the water pump and 2. Top gearbox mount and driveshafts 1. The original coolant pipe doesn't fit, so I have to get the 1.4 pipe, but from looking into it, the old pipe has three ports on it, 2 of which go straight to the carb to control the choke I believe, and the other heads straight to the header tank, whilst the 1.4 pipe only has one port, that goes to the heater system, so how can I get around the pipes to the carb, a friend of mine has suggested that I get the new pipe and run the carb on Manuel choke, but that obviously means doing some modification to the carb, but I dont really know where to start on that haha 2. Top gearbox mount is rather different, the original has 3 studs on top to bolt the mount onto, where as the 6n mount for the gearbox mounts onto the car in a completely different place, and also, will the drive shafts be long enough and actually fit, I'm Sure someone who's done a 5 speed conversion can help with this. any help given will be much appreciated

Polo 6n2 GTI - twin colored

Originally I joined as I got a 1.4 16v coupe 6n2 as a backup car. I have a 3.0tdi A6 that I like to tinker with a lot, and still have a ton of electrical issues with it, the most significant being related to a manual to automatic transmission swap... so I do tend to keep it at a shop a lot. Also it did proove not much practical for a daily use. But as my mother’s 6n2 gave birth to all of its fluids, I decided to give her mine and get something better, as I was already looking at a possible engine swap for the 1.4... As a result I got a pretty sweet GTI. I did’t expect much. Got it from a dealer, which was already a bad omen , but the car was in a surprisingly good visual condition. It hasn’t been driven since at least an year (January 2017) with less then 7000km done in 2016. I got it on 138 000km, and its last history is from Switzerland from 2013 at 118 000km. It is kinda believable that it could have done only 20 000km in 2014 and 2015, but here rewinding the milage is still very much a thing. Still it looks like being close to that arlt least. The car had its gearbox repaired while at the dealer. Everything else was in order. Of course for the first several days there were no brakes , until the calipers remembered how to work. I got it from another city, so it wasn’t the smartest idea to bring it home directly after sitting for so long, but it performed flawlessly. Of course by Murphy’s law, exactly on the next day, I got the ABS lamp on, and a bit after that the Engine check on also. Thse were because of a rear light speed sensor and a misfire in cilinder 1. Alongside the standart service, I changed the spark plugs, the spark leads and the spark coil and the speed sensor. But still occasionally (I think when I sit in traffic) it does log a misfire, which I can’t even register. Will do a compression check next year before installing the LPG system, as nothing else looks suspicious. The only other issue it had was that the left window didn’t work, while from the driver’s door I could only open the passenger’s windows with both positions of the switch. Also the central locking button on the door could lock the car but couldn’t unlock it. Today I repaired it by fixing a cut wire between the door and the body. What I plan to do with the car: - repaint the red parts - the current paint job is ridiculous and I’m not sure I like that it is not metallic. - repaint the calipers - also pretty badly done - reupholster the steering wheel with red stiches and reupholster the ceiling - update all the speakers (some are torn) - get 14” alloys as it came with 15” ones, and my winter tires are 14... Will keep the 15 for the summer - soundproofing - that is a must. Not only for better audio, but also for the rare cases where I need to get it on the highway... It really lacks a 6th gear - refurbish the headlights and get new blinkers - fix the hooks for the rear seats, because, of course, they both tore the moment I tried them - at some point I’ll add rear speakrs and an amp - as mentioned above - LPG system with lightweight bottle.
  23. Hi folks, iv just joined the forum today and have recently placed an order for a 1.2 Tsi R line Polo from a dealership nearby. I'm looking to do some straight forward mods that give the car a little more oomph ! On my mind i have, a remap, air filter/intake mod and exhaust mod, just wondering if anyone has any experience deleting the resonator from the standard exhaust do you have any tips ? Or videos ? ... I'm worried it might be a waste of time or Drone while driving ? The intake and remap mods will come later. Weary of manufactures warranty Cheers

    Should I scrap it? (2001 1.4 TDI)

Hi all, I have an old VW Polo 1.4 TDI (2001) that's been sitting unused for over 3 years now (I know.. life just got a bit crazy). The reason I didn't sell it the moment I got a new car is : - There was an intermittent starting issue which I spent a fair bit of money getting looked at but it never got fixed. Eventually the MOT guy said it's probably the fuel pump relay as he's seen it before with these cars. There was an intermittent indicator stalk issue where smoke would come out of it! Again, it was looked at but never fixed.. I couldn't sell it in good conscience like that. What if it caught on fire and someone got hurt! I'd still feel guilty even if I explained the problem on sale. Annoyingly I did prep it for sale just before I left it to rot: I put on a new tyre, and a new exhaust, and cleaned it up. Now it has the usual problems associated with being left.. It's gone a little bit mouldy here and there inside, moss on the windows, and the brakes look a bit rusty. I have a few choices from what I can tell : - 1) There's a guy that keeps knocking at my door from "MC Motors", who has offered me £100 for it. He just wants to cut it up and scrap it. 2) Replace the battery, get the engine going and advertise it for sale with the problems listed. 3) Replace the battery, get the engine going, pump the tyres up and try and get the 2 issues fixed, then put it up for sale. 4) Just try and sell as it, either on eBay or the classifieds here. I really am not sure what to do. A part of me wants to just take the £100 and be done with it, but I know the engine works and it might make a nice little run about for someone, and I could perhaps earn a bit more from it... Though I might be deluded The frustrating thing is I know with a bit of TLC it could be a nice car - the body work is fine, and it never really had any other problems while it was in regular use. I did try and jump start it recently off of my car, but it wouldn't turn over! I was told it is probably because the VW's battery is knackered and sapping the power, also my new car is petrol and I think the battery doesn't have as much kick as a battery for a diesel..? Any help would be much appreciated. I'm in Leicester if anyone wants to take a look.

    Seeking my old Mk2f

Hi guys and girls I'm hoping someone can help me. I sold my Mk2f polo back in late 2016/ early 2017. It was FOX coupe in blue that was originally 1.0 but I converted it to a 1.3 GT engine with some mods, Piper Cam, Bigger intake and a few other mods. I'm sure the guy who bought it off me was from eBay by the name of George. I'd love to have that car back as it was one of the nicest I have driven. If anyone has any information or can point me in the right direction I would be very greatful, Maybe even some pint money! If you could ask around any groups or friends that break polo's etc The REG is L468 SYJ and it is not taxed, MOT'ed or Insured Thanks again
