Hi all, it’s been a fair while since my last visit to the site, but I’m returning once again to ask for your never emptying fountain of knowledge and advice. Currently my breadvan is lowered on what I believe is TA Technix shocks and springs. The ride is awful and I hate it. As I’m trying to restore the car and undo all the annoying things that the previous owner has done to it, I've bought new Bilstein front and rear shocks. These I believe are relatively decent OE replacements. I need to source suitable OE replacement springs. Can I use Bilstein for this too? Finally, are there any other components that I require before I change the suspension over? For example: bellows/boots, top mounts etc? Or will the currently installed parts suffice and I can just swap them over. Many thanks

2006 9N Polo Front Suspension Rear bush replacement
JSar posted a topic in Wheels, Tyres, Suspension and Brakes
Hi all, I wanted to see if I could get some advice on my 9n polo Front Suspension Rear bush replacement. I'm looking to carry out the repairs myself but wanted to ask if I would need to take the car in for a wheel alignment once the repairs are complete? And if anyone has done a Front Suspension Rear bush replacement before and had any tips or things to avoid that they'd be willing to share? -

vw polo mk 4 suspension lift
Matt1234567891011 posted a topic in Wheels, Tyres, Suspension and Brakes
I have had a polo mk 4 1.2 for about 7 years (same car) and have become somewhat attached to it. I have recently decided to make it more rugged to do some light off-roading in it (as soon I will need a new car and thought it would be a fun thing to do with it for a while). I don't want to spend huge amounts of money on doing this and so have decided to use suspension spacers instead of replacing the suspension to get some more space for bigger tyres and wheels. Only problem is I can not find any spacers online that actually fit for example (Complete Lift Kit 30mm for Volkswagen GOLF, NEW BEETLE, POLO, UP!) this is on eBay but says it will only fit 2009-present and can not find anything similar that will fit my car. My question is has anyone tried to do this/ what did you find and use? And/or will these fit a mk 4 polo if it says for mk5 onwards only? -
Hello, I’m after a bit of advice reference fitting 14” P Slots on my breadvan that I have just bought. The tyres that are currently on the wheels are 185/60/14 and am having a few issues with rubbing at the back as expected. I will be lowering the car approx 40mm all round and ideally would like to keep the P Slots on the car so my question is, would a 165/55/14 tyre work without any rubbing on the rear? The P Slots I have are 5.5J et38. Any advice would be much appreciated otherwise it’ll back to the 4.5J 13’s that came with it! Many thanks
