So I'm (thankfully) down to just the selector shaft seal leak on my '93 Polo now and want to have a crack at replacing it next week. I've got an OEM seal and 3l of oil - do i need a replacement bush as well? One of these guys? https://www.vwheritage.com/001301209-guide-bush-for-gearbox-selector-rod-vw-spare
Hi, I recently replaced my selector shaft seal, and just now noticed that I've broken the new one in the installation process. I was wondering if the part where the shaft seats, like an aluminium tube, is interchangable, because I think I may have damaged it in the removal process and if there's a part number available.
Hi! So I am in the middle of changing my gearbox and just discovered that my old gearbox had cable type gear selector but the new one has rod type. Old gearbox is DFK new one is DCJ. I tried taking the cable mechanism from my old gearbox but the new one does not have holes to fix it to it. Is it possible to change gear changing mechanism or should I look for a new box that has cable type gear selector?
I have read on a few forums about differences in the 6n2 gti gearboxes. I have looked through tech docs and and the only difference is the manufacturing date. The 085 ETG gearbox was manufactured from july 1999 to july 2001. Then the box changed over to FFW which was manufactured from july 2001 onwards. All the gear ratios and clutch diameters are the same. the spedo drive ratio is the same on all 085 gearboxes and is 12:20 = 0.600. I hope this can help people looking at different gearboxes. I have the tech docs for all the 085 gear range suffexces if anyone needs gear ratios. Regards. Dani.
