    Project Breadvan GT

Alright guys, not sure how many people check the forums these days? As opposed to facebook etc. Anyway im gonna give this a go and do a build thread ... bare with me! So i picked up this GT swapped bready a couple weeks a go now, its a pretty basic/ standard set up at the mo, only running a non gt 5 speed box. The car was originally a 1l genesis (still registered as). Engine and box swapped in by the lad i got it from. Its far from perfect and needs a fair amount of work doing. I was wanting another weekend car for drives out after i sold my 1.3 genesis a few months a go, and i couldnt resist this as a project for the price i paid. First jobs im tackling are gearbox issues, oil & coolant leaks to hopefully get it into a more driveable state in the next few weeks. Ill aim to keep this thread updated as often as i can or at least as often as i get stuff done on the car. Hopefully at least a few people can find interest in it. Any questions fire away ... all advice and comments welcome please as i go guys. Cheers Ash
  2. Hello all. The shelf under my glovebox was removed and hasn't been refitted correctly. It's missing at least 3 screws and it appears to be held up by luck. What is the best way to remove and re-fit? Is it: 1. Remove gear stick gaitor. 2. Remove centre console (how many screws?). Does it just slide back? 3. Undo 5 screws holding up shelf? 4. Remove shelf - how do i do this without breaking the plastic peg at the back? When refitting: How do you get the shelf plastic peg back in the hole? Does the centre console just slide back into place? If someone could help me that would be ace.
  3. I'm about to replace my stolen stereo and get my rear 6x9s wired in. I don't think my car has the wiring for rear speakers. Can anyone tell me the route the wiring takes? Down the passenger side carpet? Which holes does it come out of in the boot? Also which path does it take around the rear hatch? The stereo I'm getting is a Sony MEX-GS820BT. Would I need to upgrade the power wires? The manual states rated power consumption 10A. thanks in advance https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/mex-gs820bt
  4. My old setup of a pioneer head unit, CD changer, amp and subwoofer was stolen on Sunday 😞 The only items left were my JBL 6x9s in the parcel shelf (and my JBLs in the dash). I was thinking of going back to having an audio setup which doesn't affect the boot, or the parcel shelf. So I was considering a head unit with a decent power output, using 6x4s in the rear speaker holders, replacing the front speakers and using an under seat subwoofer. Has anyone got a similar setup? How do they find it?

    mk2's

What is the difference performance wise between a mk2, 2f, S and a Gt? And what parts can be interchanged?

    Tuning of AAU engine.

Hi guys. My name is Alexander and from Bulgaria. I have Polo 86c 2F, AAU engine. I love my car, I mean I want to upgrade the breaks, front 256mm ventilated, rear 239 ventilated disks. But I think to upgrade the engine, because, first I want to put a AFH, but its to many work for me... Electronics, costly maintenance. Secondary I want to put a ABU engine. Quite a bit of work, but I have to pass TECHNOTEST to register the car with the new engine and it's too complicated, but I would do it if you really have nothing to do on my engine. I read many topics in this forum. AAU engine with 3F head, pistons, camshaft and bike carbs... I want all of this, except, the carbs... I want to stay with single point injection. The whole idea of the upgrade is to allow the car to move without gasping with 4 people. That is, to have a good walking away, I do not want to do racing, I would not bother with this engine if it would be my goal. First: I'm sorry for my English.. Second: I am open to hear your ideas for upgrades on this engine as seeking good fuel consumption. Here is my car.
