  1. I need guidance on refitting the rear arch trim on a 2f coupe. The one that sits beind the bumper. Recenly the polo needed welding to it's rear arch for it's MOT. The mechanic left it in primer and I completed with spay cans. When I refitted the trim, it was a tight fit and I managed to scratch the paint off down to metal. So I had to repaint. I've given it a week for the paint to fully cure before I attempt again. So I don't take off the paint again, does anyone have any tips for refitting?
  2. Hi there, I was wounding what brand of head gasket is good for my mk2f gt 3f engine, I had put a bga gasket in but that blew with in 4 years.

Alright guys, not sure how many people check the forums these days? As opposed to facebook etc. Anyway im gonna give this a go and do a build thread ... bare with me! So i picked up this GT swapped bready a couple weeks a go now, its a pretty basic/ standard set up at the mo, only running a non gt 5 speed box. The car was originally a 1l genesis (still registered as). Engine and box swapped in by the lad i got it from. Its far from perfect and needs a fair amount of work doing. I was wanting another weekend car for drives out after i sold my 1.3 genesis a few months a go, and i cou
  4. I need to get a new tailgate seal for my 2f coupe. The part (1H0827705A) is currently £122 at heritage! Any ideas where I could get one cheaper? I've also seen this on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gasket-Tailgate-Seal-Rear-Lid-Original-Volkswagen-Golf-Passat-Vento/324153497515?hash=item4b790dd7ab:g:4jQAAOSwFTddDKQV A little cheaper at £53, it says it fits, but the part number is different (333827705) Cheers
  5. On my 2f coupe, one of the rubber parcel shelf straps has snapped. It's probably died of old age. This part is now obselete (861863447A) so I can't get it anywhere. Golf MK2 ones are similar, but way too short - the polo one is about 35cm long. Does anyone know of a similar replacement part from another car? Cheers
  6. Got a set of front 2f g40 front seats, rear bench, front foor cards and rears Amazingly good quality slight sun fade no rips or stains anywhere Not sure on a price but its too clean for me Someone who likes polo interiors should have it Interested leme know
  7. Selecting gear is getting vague and a little difficult. My mech had a look and he said the linkage bushes are worn. I think there is a rebuild kit available. could anyone point me in the right direction for buying the kit? It's a mk2f with a 5-speed box. thanks
  8. Hello all. The shelf under my glovebox was removed and hasn't been refitted correctly. It's missing at least 3 screws and it appears to be held up by luck. What is the best way to remove and re-fit? Is it: 1. Remove gear stick gaitor. 2. Remove centre console (how many screws?). Does it just slide back? 3. Undo 5 screws holding up shelf? 4. Remove shelf - how do i do this without breaking the plastic peg at the back? When refitting: How do you get the shelf plastic peg back in the hole? Does the centre console just
  9. I'm about to replace my stolen stereo and get my rear 6x9s wired in. I don't think my car has the wiring for rear speakers. Can anyone tell me the route the wiring takes? Down the passenger side carpet? Which holes does it come out of in the boot? Also which path does it take around the rear hatch? The stereo I'm getting is a Sony MEX-GS820BT. Would I need to upgrade the power wires? The manual states rated power consumption 10A. thanks in advance https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/mex-gs820bt
  10. My old setup of a pioneer head unit, CD changer, amp and subwoofer was stolen on Sunday 😞 The only items left were my JBL 6x9s in the parcel shelf (and my JBLs in the dash). I was thinking of going back to having an audio setup which doesn't affect the boot, or the parcel shelf. So I was considering a head unit with a decent power output, using 6x4s in the rear speaker holders, replacing the front speakers and using an under seat subwoofer. Has anyone got a similar setup? How do they find it?
