Jody Gibbons posted a topic in Bodywork, Interior and TrimHi all, I've just bought a Genuine VW Polo 9N3 roof rack for a 5dr polo (Part No.6Q5 071 126 A) It came with what I thought was everything I need however upon downloading the fitting instructions apparently there are four auxiliary profiles that need to be fitted before the roof rack. I don't have these - has one fitted these without them? Looks like it might scratch the paint work without them. Does anyone have any available to buy? I guess you might be able to make something up, like a rubber insert but without a better indication of what they are / look like its difficult to say. Many Thanks in advance Jody
I'm glad I've got this car now, I think it's quite nippy in comparison to others in its class, but my LOLA is fully stock right now as I save every penny I can, to invest in her before summer arrives. I wasn't sure what to get now that my ban has been lifted & with a full year tax & insurance, I'm intending to make Lola shine as I ride through these Suffolk streets, where I live there is a healthy car scene, so evidently, I want to make my chariot stand out, so I can attend my gigs & events in style, while not look like a boy racer, but a mature enthusiast & let my VAG turn a few heads. At this point, nothing has been done, other than a service & a full tank of fuel, as I'm also buying my missus the A3 she has been nagging me for, so I don't have to carry the kids in mine, because I'd just be kidding myself, given all the wear & tear they can provide, lol. So this is my toy, my mobile man cave, on the day I took these pics we were just about to drive to Hunstanton beach, for this Easter holiday, so the car is full of stuff, but it's taken 140+ miles of driving, for her to grow on me, now I can't wait to get back home & get stuck in...my wishlist has grown but hopefully you'll like the finished article. I hope you'll joined on my quest to transform my little Lola in time for summer. My plan: 'Keep her simple!' - I like the 1.4 16v motor, so other than a performance Filter & exhaust system(unless someone shouts Webber Carb Conversion!), I want her serviced & performing up to spec. I'm focusing on perfecting the bodywork & paint, so she looks brand new. I need to paint the calipers, fit a set of coilovers & a set of alloys, at this point I like the Montreal II. I want a spotless clockpit & a better double din stereo to listen to my new material, while on the move. She needs halogen bulbs & model badge removal, maybe a boot spoiler & tint the glass a little darker, plus one or two little personal touches to finish up. Simple but effective, ultimately I want the new GTI but that's another story for another time!!!! But for now, this is my LOLA 9N.
It's like you meet this girl, who wasn't your type, but you found yourself falling for her & surprisingly deeply attracted to her, then your best friend comes along & tells you some home truths & breaks the spell, now your Sat there looking at her in a different light, its kind of like in 'Shallow Hal'... I got myself a cheap 2003 9n 5dr for my first car, it took me 170+ miles of driving, before I found my inspiration & then I took her to Huntington on a family holiday before bringing her home & spending my time kitting her out with new upgrades. Problem is, I bumped into a few VAG heads, street racers from Hunstanton, who own some pretty ass V.Dubs, but they told me that my particular Polo is like the ugly step sister in the polo world & that I shouldn't waste my time or money, until I sold her & got another model. I'm not sure but I felt a bit deflated, I've looked it up & he isn't lying, from reviews to trade prices, it seems like I'd be kidding myself to invest heavily in Lola & to save my money until I got myself another model in the polo range. I sat here behind the wheel & still enjoy driving her, we are 730 miles deep now & I don't enjoy her any less, but maybe he is right, I should tidy her up & sell her on for a profit in a few months, then invest in another model...what do you guys think?
Hello guys, I'm Tyson Knight, originally from Edgbaston, Birmingham, but now living in Haverhill, Suffolk. I've just got myself a Black 2003 VW Polo, a stock 1.4s 5dr, its done about 97k for about £1k, with only 3 previous owners since new & well looked after given its present condition, other than a few scratches, it looks & drives brilliantly. I've owned a MK2 Astra 1.4(GTE look-a-like), a Modified Mk2 Fiesta 1.2L, but was banned for street racing back in 1999, I've only just got back on the road & this was my first purchase, as I got back on the road. I worked in Car body repair & refinishing, construction, as a brick layer/laborer & scafolder, but in 2013 suffered a serious car crash, when my Missus sent our Alfa Romeo 147 into a telegrapgh pole at 120mph, we survived but my career has ended due to my injuries, so I foucused on making a living from my life long hobby in music production, but would love to get back into body repair, but sadly thats a dying trade in Haverhill. When I approached a few friends of mine about tuning & styling my polo 'Lola', they also suggested I google 'Club Polo' & I have to say I like what I've found on here & on the facebook page, in fact the whole scene is fantastic, the Fords/Vauxhall lads dont compare, they seem quite anal in comparrison, but 'VAG' enthusiasts dont care what you drive or how stock your motor is, they are water-cooled & always willing to help each other with projects. I have not had Lola long, I've driven her 172+ miles since buying her, but will be ready to begin work on her by early june at the latest & will be updating as often as I can over the coming months, in time for 2016 summer events, I hope to hear from you guys & meet some of you at club events through out the year, BIG RESPECT going out to all you 9N owners! Peace. TK & Lola x
