    Penny the low spec 9n3

Late march I found a bargain of a polo, £990 for a 2006 with 12k on the clock just sadly classed as a d cat for driver side fender and door damage, for £75 I got replacements and painted by my dad as he owns a spray booth. After a minor issue matching the colour to the car, the car was looking good other than minor bits of lacquer peeling on the front bumper. My next thing to do was colour code the panels and change the wheels to alloys over the plastic crap. I really wanted my own colour on the wheel so once again with my dad, I mixed some blacks and gun metals for something and turned
  5. Hi all, I wanted to see if I could get some advice on my 9n polo Front Suspension Rear bush replacement. I'm looking to carry out the repairs myself but wanted to ask if I would need to take the car in for a wheel alignment once the repairs are complete? And if anyone has done a Front Suspension Rear bush replacement before and had any tips or things to avoid that they'd be willing to share?
  6. Hi all, I’ve got a 9N3 Polo with a 5 speed manual which I recently took to the mechanic for what I thought was a wheel bearing on the passenger side, turns out it’s a bearing somewhere in the transmission. The noise sounds just like a bearing gone bad. It is noticeable when in gear and when in neutral with the clutch pedal up, the noise goes away instantly when the clutch is depressed. Nothing is wrong with the actual shifting or feel of the clutch pedal itself, and the noise doesn’t seem to get any louder as I rev the engine in neutral. Mechanics said it’s
  7. Does anyone have experience of removing the battery from an Automatic 9N3? The terminals and the top casing are relatively easy to disconnect but the automatic CPU is so close to the back of the battery and is screw connected (appears 2 screws) to the top of the cover at the back. Any suggestions? Should the terminal block come off first to access the screws CPU to cover; and if so, how do you remove it?
  8. Has anyone ever got rid of the turbo and swapped for a supercharger set up on a polo Gti 1.8? If so what size charger have they used ie cubic inch? Is there over heating problems, will probably relocate inter cooler to rear of the car anyway or possibly one at the front one at the back? If that’s possible?? Just need to know what size charger is best suited as I can’t find anything on the web. Also do Gti’s have a good oil recirculating system or is it best to get a upgraded pump and a bigger system
  9. Hi, My gearbox seems to be on its way out, unfortunately I have a 9n3 1.6 sport. I wanted to know if I can replace the gearbox with any others from other 9n3 models and engine. I know the transmission code is JHL but that's about it. Hopefully a replacement which will just swap right in. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Hi, I’ve recently been looking to upgrade the seats in my polo 9n3 and was wondering what seats would fit in, I read somewhere that seats from the polo 6r would fit in with a slight modification to the plastic on the outside, I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this, also worth noting that I don’t want to mess around with sub frames or modify them, I want a direct(ish) fit. thanks, Awilderz ps if you’ve seen this before I’m new to club polo and put it in the wrong place, sorry

Will Polo 6r seats fit in my 9n3

  12. I'm going to need to replace my clutch and maybe my flywheel soon, I was wondering what performance clutches fit this car as all of the ones I've found so far are for the 1.9tdi, is this same size and will it fit?
  13. Hi all, New to this sort of thing. I need to replace my polos rear brake calipers, however with what's going on at the moment I'd rather not buy new ones, getting second hand ones are pretty hard to find. My question is , are the brake calipers on a 9N3 the same as other vw models, for example the mk4/mk5 golf or maybe even VAG sister cars ,skoda fabia/ seat Ibiza? I'm hoping they are, it will give me a wider search net for the calipers. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

  15. I'm thinking of turbocharging my 1.2l mk4f polo and was wondering if anyone else has done this what kit they used and if they have any pointers. Would also like to know if I will have to upgrade anything else for it to work properly.
  16. I have a scrape on my front bumper and I'm wanting to remove it so that u can repair it myself during quarentine, all the bolts have come off fine, but the plastic fasteners underneath won't budge. I've been using some plastic pry tools but they just pop off, wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks for removing them they can share. I swear plastic clips are the strongest things known to man 😂
  17. Firstly, my apologies as this problem is posted on another forum, however I am desperate to fix the issue. My son has recently purchased his first car, a 2007 MY 1.4 Polo 5 door with low miles and full history. It’s a really nice vehicle, and drives extremely well, so much so that it belies its age. Just one small mark to the rear N/S quarter panel for me to sort. Anyway, he decided that he 'needed' to have a replacement radio to allow for Apple Car Play, so purchased a head unit and that was added to my list of jobs! Having left the car with me for completion of the work, he
  18. Hi All, I have a Pioneer SPH-230DAB and I am about to install it in my Polo 1.4 Bluemotion 9n3 (this car is my first one - I have absolutely no experience with cars whatsoever but want to give it a good go!) I’ve got a bunch of questions before I install it on Wednesday. Some more silly others: 1. Before I start, is it alright to just unhook the positive (or negative?) terminal of the battery, or is it important to unhook both? 2. How do I install the DAB aerial and get the wires behind the plastic trim? (It’s the sort you stick on the windscreen
  19. Hi All, My first topic post on the forum - hope you’re all good! I’m about to buy myself a Pioneer SPH-230dab to replace the glamorous RCD200 currently installed. To hook it up properly, I was going to splash out a fine pair of radio removal keys and this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N7W5TEE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SORTDbE0ZT2CH My understanding is that this replaces the need to mess around with any sort of converters / piggy backing off of any fuses when it comes to getting it wired. Does that sound about right? Next related question, I
  20. I need to change the rear drum brake cylinders on a 2006 1.2 Polo. All the car part sites have two options - Cast iron and aluminium. Is there anyway to find out which I have without taking the drum off? Thanks.
  21. Hi all, I've just bought a Genuine VW Polo 9N3 roof rack for a 5dr polo (Part No.6Q5 071 126 A) It came with what I thought was everything I need however upon downloading the fitting instructions apparently there are four auxiliary profiles that need to be fitted before the roof rack. I don't have these - has one fitted these without them? Looks like it might scratch the paint work without them. Does anyone have any available to buy? I guess you might be able to make something up, like a rubber insert but without a better indication of what they
  22. New member here! I drive a 1.2l 9n3 polo, 2006 on a 55 plate. Having done a fair amount of searching I know this topic has been discussed before on here and I have a fairly good understanding of what I need to acquire and do as a result, but there are a couple of points I still have queries about: i) Which one would be the appropriate instrument cluster to go for? I’ve been on etka/oemepc and there is a bewildering array to choose from, in very technical lingo (and I like to think I’m quite tech-savvy!). ii) where can I get the instrument clus
  23. Hi, I own a 2009 9n3 1.4tdi 70 with what I’m pretty sure is a BWB engine. I was driving recently when I thought the car went into limp mode. I switched the engine off and then tried to turn back on again, but it turned over for ages before starting and the engine warning light came on. I thought the issue might be the anti stutter valve, so I took it off and cleaned it, using the access to partly clean the EGR while I was at it. While both seemed to be in need of a clean, this didn’t solve the problem, so I got the error codes read and among five faults was the cam position sensor. I’ve repla
  24. Hey guys, Im in the process of installing the RCN210 head unit, and i've got the unit working aside from the switched live and the illumination. On the quadlock there is two 12v wires, a ground, and the CAN high and low cables, but there is also a wire (red with black stripe) that on the RCD200 unit diagram is unlabelled. Anyone know what it is? It seems to be a 12v switched wire, but in my Haynes manual there is no reference to it, and can't find anything else online. I plan on taking the illumination wire for the cig lighter/ accessory socket and splicing
  25. Hi All, This is a long shot, but does anyone have any information about the wiring for the rear wiper motor on a 9N3? (it's a 55 plate if that matters) Mine hasn't worked for years and I finally got around to looking at it yesterday. Long story short, there is a small circuit board on the wiper motor that's dead. I've driven the motor on a bench from a supply and know it works fine, and I've seen with a voltmeter that the car is sending a signal to activate the wiper, and power. I guess I've got three options, Replace the whole thing. Bit loathed to do t
