  1. idle is okay - bit lean at 16-17 - need bigger idle jets 1/2 - 3/4 throttle perfect 13.8- 14:7 - you can feel car feels right - feels easy, power but very light throttle, feathering , seems boggy afr is around 11.5 , so going up hill 11.3 ish, so then i give it more throttle 50-70% throttle -afr shoots up even up hill up to 13.5 and feels like it is right again. is it supposed to be like that. all these readings are when everything is super warm. thats when i noticed it the most. using TPS load on megajolt
  2. cbr600 carbs were set up by bogg brothers on my 1.4 afh setup. they ran rich because was using 150 jets. so at idle there ran 13 and at 2000rpm in stationory position AFR was around 13.0- to 14.0 but using the same carbs on my 1.6 afh conversion setup they run lean on idle idle was over 17 when engine cold causing exhaust to sometimes make like a spitting noise. when warm , gets around 15.9 -16.0 ish in stationary position revving it up to 2000rpm gets it where it should be 14.7, (when engine is warm) i've done some research and timing shouldn't affect AFR significantly to get dodgy AFR readings. theres a idle screw that controls where idle position is.. i increased that to around 1500 rpm to get a decent enough AFR to avoid damage. i took off the brake vacumm hose and re-installed it to make sure it's dead tight. where else can there be air leak. the jubilee clips around the intake manifold for holding the carbs are pretty crap. they are tight but if you overtighten these jubille clips the nut jumps , making you tighten it to a certain limit. but noticed tihs issue with old set up. the only thing that is different apart from the engine lol, is that im doing the testing with no bonnet and no induction pipe and ram air filter

Hi guys I believe I have finally got everything I need for my carb conversion for my polo 6n 1.4 8v 1999 Honda cbr600 Carbs, tci-h and loom, vac dizzy, fuel pump and choke, and coil Do I need anything else? If not it's time to install! Dizzy I know I need to get timing done, jets for carbs I believe are about 1.6mm for my 1.4 and need to get them balanced Tci loom to coil, dizzy and I believe I need to tap into the ignition fuse or ignition electric wire?? Fuel injectors out and carb and manifold in and hook to new fuel pump Am I missing something or is that about right? Please help as I'm doing this on Saturday!!! Thank you
  5. I know this has been gone over multiple time in multiple places.............. But I am thinking of fitting carbs to my AFH engine, when I eventually fit it, in order to circumvent some of the wiring issues I am likely to have. I have read a lot of the 'how to' posts and those specific to fitting carbs and I had a classic Mini so I have a reasonable understanding of single carbs, so not too worried about the fitting/operation. My question/request is could someone post a picture of the ignition wiring I need from a MK2 (annotations would be very helpful too), as I have no idea what it looks like and I am planning on trawling the local scrap yards in the next couple of weeks!! Also, I am looking at using CBR600 carbs, so again does anyone have an annotated picture showing all the connections? (or just point in the direction of where I might find these things) Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi all! Pretty new here and looking for some information before I get to work! I have a 1999 vw polo 6n 1.4cl 8v automatic (no haters) I'm going to do a cbr600 bike carb conversation but I'm curious as to wether this is going to work with an automatic??? My main concern being the gears, due to it being automatic it has kick down and wondering if this is going to course any trouble? Not sure wether it's a complete different thing or not, but when kick down is activated is it to do with the acceleration cable system or through a button near the pedal? Any help would be appreciated guys Thanks ?
  7. How many millimeters or inches of vacuum should I be setting my cbr600 carbs to on my gt ? Should they all be sitting at 20 inches ( 500mm ) or is it less than this.

I know there's a huge section in FAQ about bike carbs but I was wondering where the carb balancing kits connect to on keihin carbs cus I don't have vacuum pipes on my inlet, Cus I don't want to buy a balancing kit and I got no wear to connect them to ? Plus my car keeps popping loudly and coughing and spluttering and shooting flames from the inlet, It sounds almost like the spark is out but timing of the engine is spot on but I guess its because my carbs are not balanced. I have a remote fuel regulator set for 2.5bar and any higher fuel pours out the tiny brass tubes as am guessing that's the overflow. Am running 150jets and needles are untouched on top

Hi, i've just bought a set of cbr600 carbs along with a inlet manifold for my early mk2 polo 1.3 carbed, do i need anything else like a fuel pump for them specific carbs or will my mechanical fuel pump do the job? or fuel pressure regulator? could anyone point me in the right direction please? thanks.
  10. right basicly on overrun have constant poping/backfire and if reved too hard into 4th/5th it pops and bangs and has no power sometimes does it after overrun in 3rd as well Set up is as follows: Cbr600 vp carbs Normal pilots 4x145 mains Standard springs etc No filters/trumpets Mk2 ignition set up, (vac completely removed) Mk4 1.6 escort ignition coil Ignition timing set to 10 degrees (tad too much?) Facet solid state fuel pump Fuel reg and T-piece method (set at 1.5psi) New plugs,leads, rotor arm and cap plus leads (made no difference) Mechanical timing bang on! Ss manifold to standard exhaust with center box removed. Anyone have any pointers or tips would be greatly appriecated Cheers
