    Hi everyone

Hi Guys, I am new here. I have a Mk2F coupe genesis 1.3 that i bought of my younger brother as he had left it to rot on the driveway so jokingly offered him £500 and he accepted lol Decided to get it back up together and have a learn about cars, as i am was normally a bike racer not a car mechanic, but kind of enjoying this and can see why people love these cars! So i am in the middle of getting it roadworthy again and ticking off all the MOT failures it had several years ago. Done exhaust, brake lines, few joint covers etc and now it wont start. I am not sure w

    loom swap

I've found a "Mk2f polo fox coupe 1993 1.0 spi loom and ecu" advertised for ~£60. The loom on my Mk2f breadvan 1.0 has had someone go at it with all manner of scissors, tape and random bits and bobs. Obviously everything was done with good intentions though the back of the radio is a plate of spaghetti and there are a couple of loose ends hanging down in the drivers footwell. The radio has the reg from a 1980 escort so is obviously a replacement, 99% sure that the fitting is what caused the spaghettification of the wiring. I am very much a novice with car repairs and am by no means an el

    1983 coupe build thread.

Hi guys New member here! Thought I'd start a build thread for my mk2 coupe. I originally bought this car when I was 16, i got it up to a driveable standard and used it for 6 months or so after I passed my test, I then sold it on and regretted it ever since! After many years (almost 11) I finally saw it up for sale so I bought it back and after a very eventful trip home (and a debut on traffic cops) I started stripping it down for rebuild. Firstly I started on the engine, I tried turning it over by hand and it was having none of it so I pulled th
  4. Hi club polo, Was looking forward to starting my polo build but I have found difficulty in finding repair panels online. I have a mk2 coupe s The only panel I can find is the sill. I need also the rear quarter around the filler cap, the right side wheel arch. Does anyone know where I can find these panels? If not are there any panels known from other cars that would be a good starting point to adapt and fit?
  5. On my 2f coupe, one of the rubber parcel shelf straps has snapped. It's probably died of old age. This part is now obselete (861863447A) so I can't get it anywhere. Golf MK2 ones are similar, but way too short - the polo one is about 35cm long. Does anyone know of a similar replacement part from another car? Cheers
  6. Hi guys, How do you remove what would be the rear door card on a mk2f coupe (apart from there is no rear doors). Not sure what its called Rear interior trim panel for passengers. https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/polo+derby+vento-ind/po/1992-120/8/867-84000/#3 Can see on etka little screw at bottom - that's fine. But how do the clips at the top near the window work? Don't want to break anything. Do seats/rear bench need to come out? Any help much appreciated.
  7. Model: 1992 Polo CL Coupe Engine: 1390cc AFH on standard 6n injection Suspension: TBC Brakes: Standard Wheels and Tyres: BMW E30 Bottle Tops 14 x 6 ET35 Exterior Styling: Standard, rusty, bit of a state Interior Styling: Corrado seats, GT clocks To Do List: Too much to list... Better late than never for a build thread I suppose. I bought this Polo at the Polo Social 2017. Within 5 minutes of being on site at the Social it was affectionately nicknamed "The White Shed of Excellence" thanks to @jonPDpolo. The reasons for which I'll not
  8. Hi all My gas struts on the tailgate are giving up the ghost. Whats the best replacement part? Is it an easy job to do? The ones at the top look a bit fiddly! Any advice on removing the top section? thanks
  9. Hi I've got a 93 polo mk2f and the battery keeps draining. I had the alternator replaced recently and have been assured that's not the problem. Guy from the garage seems to think its mechanically sound and there's an electrical fault somewhere. Had my battery tested and was told it's 96% capacity so think I can rule that out. I'm thinking its a electrical fault somewhere but don't know where to start. When I got the car the car I noticed a few electrical issues: CD player not working - Initially worked but stopped connecting to spe

  11. Hi there, new to the forum. I own a 1987 mk2 polo fox coupe. The car has been restored inside and out but i am now looking for more power. The car currently runs the 1.0L 4 speed engine. I am wondering what swaps have people carried out and how easy it is. Looking into a vr6 swap at the moment. Any suggestions or can anyone point me in the right direction. Cheers

    Another one bites the dust

You'd be forgiven for thinking this pic was taken in the early 90s...………..it was yesterday! Mate had spied a mk2 coupe lying at a house and was trying to find out what the deal was with it. This pair then appeared nearby. Total waste!!!!!

    1984 Mk2 Coupe (Zender Kit)

Hi All, I posted this on here many, many years ago but now it's finally time to get it sorted! It was sat in the garden for years but when I moved and had a secure (& dry!) parking, I decided to get it road worthy! Already had some work done, but plenty to do. Next big project is getting the various bits of rust sorted and maybe try to sort a lowering kit. What would you do with it? Cheers, Ross

    Mk3 Black G40 Coupe

Think its about time I whacked up a thread for this as I've owned it over a month! Since I sold my old 6n2, kinda fancied getting back into a polo and successive other old dub projects had failed to scratch the itch (Purple VR6 Corrado that never worked and a Tornado Pink Mk2 Scirocco with a GTi Engineering RE2000 8V conversion) Also having done the VR6 thing, felt it was time to do the supercharged thing too All the way back in February I fuelled up the A5 and went for a trek up the M1 to see @grungeisdead about a dog/geniune G40 that he was selling that ha
  18. I have a 1.0 mk2f coupe and im looking to do bit of researchin into supercharing it or jammin a turbo on id go for a 1.3 engine first but i cant source one in northern ireland. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  19. So today my car decided to die on my way to work. Basically when you try to start it, it turns over but won't fire and doesn't even try to. The AA said it was my ignition coil; we have since replaced this but it still has the same fault. However it will now start sometimes but then cut out again after a minute or so and then won't restart. Leave it for a few hours and it will start, but again cuts out. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance!

    Mk2/2f Parts Clearout

My last lot of Mk2/2f bits are listed below. Postage for most things should be around the £5 mark. I would prefer the larger parts be collected from me in Southampton, but if this isn't practical, I can obtain a quote for shipping (although it might be fair bit more). I've posted pictues of some of the parts below, but can get pictures of any other parts on request. Interior TIM Boost guage £5 Mk2 headlight switch £1 Mk2 hazard light switch £1 Mk2 fog light switch £1 Mk2 heated rear window switch Mk2 full seatbelt set £5 Mk2 ind
