  1. Hi.first question from a new member. Please can anyone help ? I have just bought my son who is learning to drive a 59 plate 1.4 dsg polo. Drove great on test drive as they always do! But has now got a very slight misfire. Been in to a local and very trusted garage who traced to coil pack fault on cylinder 3. So changed coil pack reset codes and after 10 miles EPC /EMO lights came on with servere misfire. returned to garage and changed injector on no 3 as this was now apparent. Garage has been great and i have no complaints. It been back in for more tests and checks but still comes up with cylinder 3 fault and after say a 10 mile drive will bring on the lights again. Each time you turn the car off and on again it seems to reset and puts the lights out but still has the noticible misfire.! Im told there is no fault with wiring or air pipes. Next step im told will be to remove the head and inspect the valves ect. Does anyone have any ideas or had a similar fault. Many thanks BRIAN

  3. As title suggests, I'm after the pin out for a lupo 1L E pre canbus, but I'm sure a pre canbus polo 1.4 with the round clocks will be the same. I'm sure somebody has done it or can point me in the right direction to another thread somewhere. Thanks X

  9. Hello, I have a 6n2 1.4 8v, its a AUD engine using a fly by wire accelerator. I’m looking into installing cruise control to it, preferably using OEM parts. I’ve searched the FAQs and the forum and a couple of other forums, plus google to try and work out what I need and how to install it to no avail, other than the fact it seems to be possible. Any information anyone can provide on this topic would be greatly appreciated, thank you and have a great weekend.

Hi guys, Tearing my hair out with my 1.0 1990 mk2 breadvan, HZ engine code When I first purchased it it needed some TLC and had new Filters, fuel tank, fuel pump, distributor rotor arm ht leads battery And brakes After almost a year it started cutting out when stopping at a junction or heavy braking. I got fed up with it and left it on the drive way and bought a new car. Fast forward a couple of years years and I want to restore it. Mostly to learn, possibly to sell after not quite sure yet. However, on trying to start the engine with new fuel it refused. Since then I have changed leads plugs ignition coil carburettor flange The distributor and rotor arm still look ok. I have 12v at ignition coil with ignition turned on and if I pour petrol/spray carb cleaner into carb it will start for a few seconds then die out. Whilst the carb was off I tried my best to clean it without doing a full service. I have also blown through the needles with a compressor. has anyone got any ideas what the issue could be? Im getting close to torching it 🔥😡 many thanks in advance if you can can help diagnose my problem. ☺️

  12. I need to get a new tailgate seal for my 2f coupe. The part (1H0827705A) is currently £122 at heritage! Any ideas where I could get one cheaper?   14. My 9N Polo (2002) has a issue with the Instrument Cluster. Everytime I turn the Ignition Key on, the Trip and Clock have reset to 0KM and 0:00 and the Immobilizer doesn't always allow the Motor to be started. Leave the Key in the run position for a second or two and it will then start and run fine. Both Trip and Clock work perfectly once the Motor is running. Is there a permanent feed to the Instrument Cluster that may be failing? On a few rare occasions the entire Instrument Cluster has been dead until many lock and unlock the door cycles. This problem has escalated over many months from being very intermittent to now being constant.
  15. Hello again! So during storm dennis my polo let some water in. Specifically into the drivers door (i pulled a dry doorcard off and it was wet behind the speaker). My electrical problems: My central locking only locks when i dont have the key in, but once i have ignition first click turned, both the lock and unlock buttons unlock the doors, and you cannot even force them down by hand. 2nd, the window is dead. Even holding the key in the lock only moves passenger window. I assume the motor is dead or wiring fried. Now ive just spent near a grand getting the clutch and suspension sorted so cant afford much but really wanna try and fix this. Ive checked all relating fuses and theyre all good (oddly) Can i convert it to manual with no motor? Where can i start to look in order to fix the central locking? I will accept very botch solutions to this so please if youve read through and can share anything..its all welcome! Cheers
  16. After years of wanting one and a year of looking for one I've finally got one!! It's got high mileage, 165,000, but the engine runs nice and smooth. It's a bit tatty around the edges but it's probably the best condition polo I've bought yet - saying that's probably going to come back and bite me. Well we did a 2 hour drive to go and pick it up and me and my dad couldn't smile wide enough! There's a bit of rust on the arches, very minor, and minor rust on a few panels. When we got it home I went to open the door and the door handle came off - was no screw holding it in. The speakers don't work, simple wiring job. But the wheels are feking amazing condition! Don't even look like they've been refurbed just really clean! The plans for this year: *Fix door handle - probably do that tomorrow weather permitting *Fix speakers - tomorrow *Cambelt, oil change - general stuff when you buy a car. *Gradually get each panel sorted, can do panel by panel as colour match isn't vital as long as it's near enough. *But some 16v seats to steal the foam out of as the foam in the current seats has long gone - no tears though, well a tiny one. *Machine polish it. Only got one photo at the moment was to excited to take photos! Polished the wing and bumper and they came up nicely. The colours are really vibrant in person! Should be going to ultimate dubs next sunday in it.
  17. Hi, have replaced by camshaft bearing cap studs (they are m8x56 double ended studs). I am wondering either if there is a specific vw nut which will yield correctly or be 'proper' and not a snappy ebay special boi. Is there a m8 bolt I can buy in a type of steel that will be best too?   19. hi all any help with this code? polo 00816 power steering sensor g250 30 00 open or short to plus.. recently had a steering rack change - second hand one, and ive had tracking done. also tried a different g250 sensor but still get the light come on dash with steering wheel picture also a abs code comes up also,anyone help me check the values of the steering rack when it moves in vcds and all i get is activate it? do i go on single reading? ive got the free version
  20. hey all, i feel bad posting about something so basic but after honestly days searching i cant find anything conclusive. 6n2 backboxs; are any of them swapable? i have a 1.4 16v and need to replace mine and would like something a little beefier like the gti or tdi backbox. is the piping the same and a straight swap? thanks :)

Hi there i recently took my gt throttle body apart and totally stripped it to clean it and now when I start the car it will start no bother and idle high on auto choke until it kicks off and then it won't idle normally, do I need to set the idle screw on the throttle body or something else causing it to do this? Forgot to say it revs etc fine just wont tick over just cuts out and starts straight away again and doenst idle 🙄
  22. Hi all, Ive got a problem with my daughters polo 9n 3 door. The windows have decided to wind down on there own and car unlocks it self to, and there is a constant clicking coming from the doors after this has happened. Ive temp taking out the fuses for the windows and central locking as a temp measure as im worried car will get wet or items may get stolen.. this started happening last night, when i turn the key left on the drivers side door it sometimes lock the whole car and do windows up but most times it just locks that side, other times it locks whole car, this is the same from passenger side too,if i turn the key right it sometimes wind windows down and only only drivers door and sometimes passenger door.. any one point me in the right direction to solve this issue please, recently fitted new clutch and power steering rack, so seems like a never ending story with faults atm, also ive checked the rubber and wires inside the door hinge area and all seem ok, fuses were ok to 38,39 and 51 i think they were,,,thanks
  23. Hi, Can anyone help! I have a 64 plate VW polo. When I lock the car the interior lights stay on and flash randomly (including hazard light, steering wheel lights, electric window buttons) which is causing the battery to drain. Taken to VW for diagnostics they said to try new dash clocks as the first stage of repair for £1000!! Any advice welcome!! Dash clocks work perfectly fine normally.

Hi all, Drilled through my rack today after trying to remove a broken bolt in the gearbox to subframe captive nut, any info on how to replace please and can I just drop subframe with rack on? or is it easier to take rack out from the side, front or rear? can I get away with just dropping front part of exhaust too? thanks all Polo 9n 1.2
