  1. Noticed last time I drove the Polo 1.9TDI Classic that the ABS light came on with ignition and went 'out' after the usual couple of seconds in the normal way but after the engine was started and all the other lights had gone out the ABS symbol was still faintly visible. On switching off after the drive the ABS symbol was still faintly visible after I was out of the car and had locked up. On checking it is faintly on all the time, quite obvious when parked up in the dark and just barely visible in daylight. VCDS scan shows no brake/ABS faults. I know electrics on ageing Vag cars can be a problem. I don't drive it more than once every couple of months as I have a Bora as a daily. It's more of a family emergency car as it has been so reliable in the past. Battery does run down over a month or so. Anyone got any ideas what to look for?
  2. Hello My Polo 6n. 2 doors. year 1998 I have a problem with ABS and I can not seem to solve the problem, I checked the main fuse is normal and not broken, I checked the pump itself and it works, And the computer shows that I have a problem with the ABS brain itself, problem number 01044, I also wanted to know if I have an "ABS" button on the Dashboard ?? Helppp me plss
  3. Hi, im new on the forum after recently picking up a 2008 1.9tdi polo sport pd100. im very happy with my car, it was a private sale and when I test drove it the abs light came on. The owner was shocked and I managed to talk him into writing me a warranty on abs just incase it wasn't the sensor. ive had the sensor replaced as the scan came up showing front passenger side fault code. The wheel bearing was also replaced at the time. The light went off for all of 6 hours. Usually the light comes on right away upon starting the car. However, if it comes on while I'm driving the speedo will dance around, then the abs will kick in, followed by the light coming on and then all returns to normal driving just with the abs fault line on. my mechanic isn't sure but he's leaning towards abs pump, even though it's warranted I don't want to replace it for no reason I'd rather get to the root of the problem. Has anyone had any experience like this? I was thinking maybe it's whatever method the sensor is using to read the speed is danges somehow although it's a new sensor? Thanks for your help.
  4. Hello, I know there is a lot of threads on ABS and sensors but I guess every problem is unique, I have a 9N3 1.8T Polo GTI (07). A while back my ABS light had come on along with traction control permanently off, scanned the car and it came up with: ''ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Left (G46), 008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent'' I investigated and found some of the wiring had burnt through the exhaust but was soldered (badly) by the previous owner, I unplugged the sensor and pulled it through the car onto the rear bench, cut the bad solders off, stripped and crimped (upon inspection of the wiring the black was slightly discoloured, maybe from the previous owner putting too much heat on the wire), this worked fine for around a day of driving. Then the fault seemed to reappear, I again pulled the cable through the car, checked the wiring and repeated the same process, still didn't work. I then cut the crimps off and soldered. Now it seems the problem is very intermittent, the fault comes and goes very quickly. Sometimes it's on for a day then other days vanished and everything works fine. An output test for the ABS was also completed via VCDS when the fault was gone and everything checked out fine. Measuring blocks whilst driving shows no output from the rear left when fault is present. As I'm typing this I realise this looks very much like a wiring fault but I can't help thinking this may be something else. So far I've changed the sensor, the rear disk has also been removed and cleaned up any dirt maybe stopping the sensor from working correctly. My next idea is to maybe change the rear wheel bearing as it works with the sensor to output a signal. Any thoughts, similar experiences or little things I can check would be appreciated. Thanks, John
  5. The ABS warning light has come on in the dash of my 2002 9N Polo, I have looked in the Haynes manual and couldn't find anything. What could be the cause? A few months ago my Dad had to remove a few fuses and when they were put back in several warning lights came on, and nothing was found to be wrong. Could this be the case, or is there something wrong with the ABS?

    Electrical Issues

(Mods please move this post if it's not in the correct part of the forum) Kind of a long one sorry but any help would be greatly appreciated I've had my 9N3 for three odd years now and largely it's been spot on but for the past 6 months it's been a fucking pig. Basically all started when I randomly got an EPC warning light out of nowhere, looked it up, replaced the brake switch and it was sorted but about a week later I got ABS warning light frequently and the power steering would cut out for no reason. However, if I turned the car on and off again it would be fine again immediately which showed me that it can't actually be a mechanical problem. On top of this a lot of the other electrics were temperamental as fuck, such as the stereo cutting out for no reason and the interior light flickering like mad. I assumed it was a bad battery and replaced it, which solved nothing, since then, I've had another battery, replaced the alternator, cleaned all the ground points, and replaced the positive and negative cables. For a couple of days it was spot on but tonight the headlights randomly cut out as I was driving and it took a good few tries to turn them on and off again. I've reached a point now where I feel like I'm just throwing money at the problem to no avail and everybody seems to have a different idea what it might be and it's simply not worth sinking that money into a bog stock 3 cylinder 9n3. If anybody has any ideas what it could be it would be brilliant because I'm at my absolute wits end, my brain's fried at thinking what it could be and I wanna sell the car asap but don't wanna sell it until I know the car is 100% reliable and safe and I'm not mugging anyone off. Cheers : AAASA
  7. Hi, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem... I've got a Polo 9n, bought some alloys for it a few days ago, I put 2 of them on the rear and left steels on the front because I was waiting for a new tyre for one of the alloys to go on the front. I started to get a crunching noise coming through the brake pedal every so often, and yesterday the ABS, handbrake and steering light came on and the speedo dropped down to zero. Anyone have any idea what could of caused it, cheers
  8. Hi, the cable to my nearsdie ABS sensor was chafing against the wheel, causing a break in the insulation. Water got in and of course my ABS light has come on. I have a new sensor and I went to VW for a new wiring harness, but I am not sure it is right. The two plug-in leads are easy enough but there are four extra single wires - with no connectors, where do they go? Has anyone any ideas? Please see attached photos of the ordinary connectors and then of the 5 or so separate wires. Any help gratefully appreciated as I have an MOT in 2 days! Thanks Adam PS - not sure why, photos aren't uploading

    ABS Light

Hey Guys, Over the last few days, my ABS warning light is now constantly on. It use to come on, but go off after turning off the engine and turning it back on again. Also, the Oil Pressure Light comes on when the engine is warm, but only if the rpm drop below ~2000rpm. Above 2000rpm, the oil pressure goes off, but if, for example I slow down without changing down a gear, the oil light flashes and 3 beeps are heard. This happens a lot when coming off a motorway, etc. Any reason? I have a code reader and plugged it in but it said "no dtc codes stored on computer". Thanks, Conor
  10. Hi All, I'm having a little problem with my polo. Its an 08 Plate 1.2. A few times the ABS light has come on with an alarm sounding. It coming on for about 10 seconds before going back to normal. I have plugged a VAG reader into the car to check the ABS and i don't get a fault code. Is this something which i can easily fix? Thanks :)
  11. Hi Guys first off let me say a quick hello as this is my first post of hopefully many forums, I've come from a mainly golf background but just bought myself a little polo run around. So to the issue I was driving the car last night and the ABS light came on now after some quick googling i can see that this looks like it could be a common thing with the 6n2 (my polo is a 51 plate so its a 6n2 correct?) now I've seen a few posts about fixes like taking out the sensor and putting it back in etc, my question is will it be ok to drive the car for a short period of time with this light on i.e. perhaps 2 weeks until I get the chance to get it fixed i will only be doing short runs if i do say of around 10 miles each time and there might be one run of 120 miles to take it home to my parents where I will be able to get it on the ramps and take a good look at it. thanks again all Dan
  12. I recently had quite a few issues with my polo 2008 1.4 tdi bluemotion 1 I searched all forum and google i couldn't decide what to do i need some advice from a expert because i took my car to couple of mechanist and electrician all look lost don't know what to do. Also headlights are flickering like almost become off. Problems usually happening first 10 min from i start the car then it is ok. Or while i am parking. Solutions i found on the internet Erth wire issue ( don't know where it is also is there only one point to fix) Secondly battery replacement But i took my car to halfords today and they checked and they said it is fine Their device was showing 12.8v and 404amp/hr I need an urgent advice as problems start to occur more often.
