    2001 Polo SE 1.4 TDI

Time Left: 5 days and 14 hours

    • FOR SALE
    • USED

2001 Polo SE 1.4 TDI – AMF engine – £650 136,430 miles (will go up as I use it) MOT until 07/07/21 Located in Monmouth, SE Wales Up for sale, my daily driver that I’ve used to commute to work for the last 5 years, has been really reliable and economical, never broken down on me or failed to start. Solid engine and gearbox – uses no oil or water. Incredibly good on fuel, it consistently averages 60 MPG, with more on a run and is surprisingly nippy for what it is. £30 tax per year, insurance group 13, so cheap to run. Just been serviced by myself with oil and filter (always done every 10,000 miles), air filter replaced at last oil service. Timing belt done on the 17/07/17 by my local garage along with water pump, tensioner, vibration damper, pulleys, etc. At or near the asking price there are various bits I’m happy to pass on with the car: a pair of genuine VW locking roof bars, Haynes manual, spare alloy wheel (needs a refurb) and some new spare parts (front pads, etc.). Genuinely sad to see the car go but my circumstances have changed. Original equipment: · Remote central locking with alarm (one key) · Front fogs · Electric tilt and slide sunroof · Rear discs · Front electric windows · Electric mirrors Modifications: · Cruise control (done with genuine VW parts) · GTI full leather interior with heated seats · GTI Xenon lights · GTI upper grille · GTI front splitter · 30mm Eibach Pro lowering springs Bad bits: · Category D write off (lowest level) due to damaged drivers side doors – these were repaired and the car returned to the road before I bought it. The repair to the front door isn’t perfect. · Rust starting to show on front drivers arch · MOT advisory for discs and pads, gets the same advisory for discs every year, they’ve plenty of life left in them. Rear pads still look decent to me and I’ll include new Bosch pads for the front. · MOT advisory on three tyres, all still legal

  2. Hi Are there 2 types of timing belt tensioner on 1.4 Tdi. I changed timing belt kit on one of the polo 1.4 AMF and it had to be tensioned manually until arrow / pointer was in the middle of the cut. However I have another polo 1.4 TDI Pd 75 sports and the tensioner looks different without the pin or arrow in it. My question is how is it tensioned ? or whats the procedure? Thanks

  4. Where to start??? (i'll make it as short as possible) Noise when idling which goes away once clutch is depressed.. After much research possibly two culprits; 1. release bearing. 2. input shaft bearing. Took gearbox out to GEARBOX SPECIALIST who gave it a external examine (spinning & listening to the moving parts) Advised by said specialist to change clutch as it could be just that and it may be more cost effective as, if he opens it up and finds nothing it'll cost, popped new clutch it, got gearbox on (replaced gear oil) started car, noise still there but a little quieter (a little). So new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, release fork, gear oil. ***Not fixed** input shaft bearing guys? I don't wanna take the gearbox off again if it isn't that So noise at idle, clutch down = no noise Has anyone had a similar issue? p.s I have a spare clutch now
