Hi all. recently reversed my 6n over a log that I was using to chock the wheels on my sloped driveway, wedging it between my front wheel and the inside of the radiator. Took it for a drive and noticed a growling noise that appears around 30mph and keeps up all the way to 90 , and keeps growling even in neutral or with the clutch in. I don’t know whether this is related to the log incident as I hadn’t driven the car for a while before, but it’s really annoying and now seems to pull to the left a bit when driving. I have checked for play in the front wheels, there is none, there’s a tiny bit on the back but the back wheels also spin way more freely than the fronts, don’t know if this normal? The noise doesn’t seem to differ either way I steer the car, I’ve read about tires making noises like this but I don’t see them being this loud. Any insight would be much appreciated! cheers
Hi all For the past 2 months my polo has developed an annoying fault. It’s making a clicking noise from the drivers side rear wheel. I don’t think its spring or shock as it sits right and doesn’t bang. It’s can only be described as tapping/clicking noise. Any ideas it’s getting quite embarrassing to drive as it’s quite noticeable.
Where to start??? (i'll make it as short as possible) Noise when idling which goes away once clutch is depressed.. After much research possibly two culprits; 1. release bearing. 2. input shaft bearing. Took gearbox out to GEARBOX SPECIALIST who gave it a external examine (spinning & listening to the moving parts) Advised by said specialist to change clutch as it could be just that and it may be more cost effective as, if he opens it up and finds nothing it'll cost, popped new clutch it, got gearbox on (replaced gear oil) started car, noise still there but a little quieter (a little). So new clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, release fork, gear oil. ***Not fixed** input shaft bearing guys? I don't wanna take the gearbox off again if it isn't that So noise at idle, clutch down = no noise Has anyone had a similar issue? p.s I have a spare clutch now
