  1. Long time since I've posted on here! Have had an ARC engine for a number of years now, and with a fairly recent purchase of another breadvan it's time to do something with it. was planning on ITBs although driveability concerns are putting me off. Then with the recent finding that a 1.4tsi k03 turbo/manifold bolts straight to the 16v head (bar 1 bolt) I have decided to go down this route. Current planned purchases are: K03 turbo from a tsi AGU throttle body (yet to confirm it bolts to manifold) will port the head myself after my successes on both AAU and AAV engines. Speeduino management (pnp on AGU, same sensors on ARC) Either AGU loom or custom. Turbo plumbing (oil and air) intercooler wideband Injectors Fuel pump Parts I already have include: 1ltr flywheel Aftermarket clutch Various 084/5 boxes Slim starter Shortened oil pickup Short sump Complete front subframe from a 6n2 (engine, box, brakes, suspension etc) This leaves me with lowering the compression of the engine, seems that the stock ones melt on 7lbs of boost @180bhp. Ive been looking at various internals until I found a German company that build specialist head gaskets at various thicknesses to drop the comp down to between 10.5 to 8.1 depending on specs. My only concern is valve timing issues from the decomp gasket, and haven't found a vernier cam pulley yet. Also looked at various oem piston combinations but they all seem to raise the CR instead! Any advice welcome.!

Looking for Polo 86c parts I stumbled across a water-cooled intercooler that looks similar size to the G40 air-cooled - but larger 70mm pipes... https://www.stwtuning.de/tuning/performance/ladeluftkuehler/wassergekuehlter-ladeluftkuehler-universell-76mm-3-zoll-310x310x115mm/a-44389/ I don't have a G but thought someone might be interested. Water/coolant at 84c absorbs more heat than air at 20C and it might plumb in more easily and subtly than a FMIC?
  3. I used to have a poster on my wall of a Bentley 4.5 litre (blower bentley) That finned thing on the front is a Roots supercharger. This is 1928 before fuel injection. Always wondered how to size things for supercharge carb blow through.. Page 10 of this https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/manuals/solex_carb/Solex_Carburetors.pdf has formulae. For my 1263cc engine reaching 7500rpm and 700mmhg boost (G40 with RS1 work?) it will need 55mm carb barrel with 44mm chokes. Yeah, I've got 11:1 compression ratio so decompression plate or different pistons, which changes cc, obviously. But ballpark... Using Python. import math 0.41 * math.sqrt(315 * 7.5 * 4 ((760.0+700)/760.0)) =55.24 So, 55mm carb barrel (per cylinder or shared). Page 22 then has formula for choke from this barrel size. 0.8*55.24 =44.19 (44mm choke) There's some jetting that follows from the choke size. And it'll needs loads of experimentation for part throttle. Maybe less boost would be sensible.

    Hi all names kalvin im new to the club polo / vw scene .... before you all have a moan yes i have googled it and fried my brain yes i have looked through all these threads.... but im still finding it hard to get a clear answer.... Which is the best engine to put into my polo that i can turbo.... Please be nice When replying :) haha pics of my car attached

Hi everyone I drive a Polo GTI 9n3 1.8T and it seems to be really pokey when it's cold and then this seems to wear off when it's warmed up and just feels like it pulls way less between 3000-5000 revs :/ anyone else had this problem or have any idea what it might be? No lights on the dash and all seems to be in order as far as I know. All help would be much appreciated!
