Hello I'm in need of some advice, iv replaced the head gasket on my AAV and before I put the head on I put the pistons on TDC by feeling the top of the pistons but it puts the crank pulley mark on the 0, I'm just wondering if this it normal? because the Haynes manual says it's meant to be on the Z of the belt cover. I have turned the engine over twice by hand and it moves spot on no noises, anything advice would be great. I will post pictures later on today.
My timing belt slipped and at least 8 of the 16 valves are damaged. Also have a problem with my gear linkages, and the mechanic said I may as well replace the clutch if they sort out the gear linkages. Water pump will also need replacing. Estimated cost is at least £2000, I bought the car for £1700. Is it worth repairing, or is there a better option to get it fixed? If I don't get it fixed, I'll try to sell it as non-runner, as the car only has about 42 000 miles on it and is in great condition.
Bluemarktwo posted a topic in Engine, Transmission and ExhaustAs the title says, my mk2f has been squealing at low revs when cold. I just replaced cam belt and alternator belt. The noise always goes away once the engine has warmed up. Could it be one of the belts are too tight? Or something else I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated
