Hi I was running bike carbs so had all coolant pipes connected and some blocked to run the carbs, I've now sold the bike carbs and going to use a Weber carb, do I need to re plumb the coolant system back into the original manifold or can I run it dry seeing the Weber does not have the heating element. Be very handy it I could as I wouldn't have to drain the system or will this not end well Cheers
  2. okay I've posted this before when i had no idea of what it could be so I'm not really sure if its wired in properly but i followed a post about wiring the mk2 ignition in and I'm sure I've got it right but I've still got no spark ! the only thing that i can think off is that my coils is at fault and I'm in need of a new one but still would like people to have a crack at trying to solve my issue i know the rest once I've got the spark so no need on telling me the rest of the set up but its just getting the spark I'm not to sure where I'm going/gone wrong i need this car to fire before next week so if people can help me out as much as possible thank you
  3. I know this has been gone over multiple time in multiple places.............. But I am thinking of fitting carbs to my AFH engine, when I eventually fit it, in order to circumvent some of the wiring issues I am likely to have. I have read a lot of the 'how to' posts and those specific to fitting carbs and I had a classic Mini so I have a reasonable understanding of single carbs, so not too worried about the fitting/operation. My question/request is could someone post a picture of the ignition wiring I need from a MK2 (annotations would be very helpful too), as I have no idea what it looks like and I am planning on trawling the local scrap yards in the next couple of weeks!! Also, I am looking at using CBR600 carbs, so again does anyone have an annotated picture showing all the connections? (or just point in the direction of where I might find these things) Thanks in advance!
  4. Hi all, I have the 1.3 mk2 with 5 speed gear box. With the AFH 1.4 16v, I know i need to mod the front engine mount but can I use my current gearbox? What else would I need to complete the build? ECU? Electric fuel pump? What bike carbs do i need to go with? Thanks in advance Matt

Hi guys just a quick question, I'm doing a carb conversation on my polo 6n 1.4 1999 and I'm wondering because I'm changing from fuel injection to carbs, is there anything I need to do with fuel injection system?? Like will I need to bypass the ecu or anything?? Or will the car be fine just buy straight swapping? Thanks
  6. How many millimeters or inches of vacuum should I be setting my cbr600 carbs to on my gt ? Should they all be sitting at 20 inches ( 500mm ) or is it less than this.

I know there's a huge section in FAQ about bike carbs but I was wondering where the carb balancing kits connect to on keihin carbs cus I don't have vacuum pipes on my inlet, Cus I don't want to buy a balancing kit and I got no wear to connect them to ? Plus my car keeps popping loudly and coughing and spluttering and shooting flames from the inlet, It sounds almost like the spark is out but timing of the engine is spot on but I guess its because my carbs are not balanced. I have a remote fuel regulator set for 2.5bar and any higher fuel pours out the tiny brass tubes as am guessing that's the overflow. Am running 150jets and needles are untouched on top

Hi, i've just bought a set of cbr600 carbs along with a inlet manifold for my early mk2 polo 1.3 carbed, do i need anything else like a fuel pump for them specific carbs or will my mechanical fuel pump do the job? or fuel pressure regulator? could anyone point me in the right direction please? thanks.

Hey guys, been searching and cant seem to find one (call me blind most likely) but looking for a thread on a polo 6n shell with the AFH 1.4 16v engine on carbs, I'm ordering up bit to do it to mine but am wondering on ignition/dizy caps and also fuelling, can i use the 16v dizy? can i use the standard fuel pump or will i have to use a new one if a new one is needed, how do i go about disconnecting the old one? wheres it best to located the afermarket one etc.. If anyone can shed any light, would be MUCH appreciated as i have bought a enough bits to not want to turn back now!! Cheers guys :) James

    Boost gauge

    Polo 6n 16v By fitting carbs , does this introduce any pressure boost in the intake? Just wondering as I bought a digital boost gauge and it might not be of any use.
