  1. Hello again! So during storm dennis my polo let some water in. Specifically into the drivers door (i pulled a dry doorcard off and it was wet behind the speaker). My electrical problems: My central locking only locks when i dont have the key in, but once i have ignition first click turned, both the lock and unlock buttons unlock the doors, and you cannot even force them down by hand. 2nd, the window is dead. Even holding the key in the lock only moves passenger window. I assume the motor is dead or wiring fried. Now ive just spent near a grand getting the clutch and suspension sorted so cant afford much but really wanna try and fix this. Ive checked all relating fuses and theyre all good (oddly) Can i convert it to manual with no motor? Where can i start to look in order to fix the central locking? I will accept very botch solutions to this so please if youve read through and can share anything..its all welcome! Cheers
  2. Looking for some advice, can’t seem to find anything specific for my problem anywhere else. VW polo 2003 1.4tdi 3 door So, when the interior lock switch is pressed the drivers door locks and then instantly unlocks - only the drivers door the passengers door locks as expected. I have tried replacing the switch but this did not fix the issue. The car does not have remote locking, when the key is put into the door and turned once the car locks fine, but if turned for a second time in the lock direction it unlocks the drivers door. The interior light works as expected, and turns off when door is closed and on when opened. The main issue is the interior locking switch when the lock button is pressed it locks and instantly unlocks the drivers door. The boot and passenger lock and unlock fine and the unlock button inside works as expected. any help would be much appreciated.
  3. Firstly, my apologies as this problem is posted on another forum, however I am desperate to fix the issue. My son has recently purchased his first car, a 2007 MY 1.4 Polo 5 door with low miles and full history. It’s a really nice vehicle, and drives extremely well, so much so that it belies its age. Just one small mark to the rear N/S quarter panel for me to sort. Anyway, he decided that he 'needed' to have a replacement radio to allow for Apple Car Play, so purchased a head unit and that was added to my list of jobs! Having left the car with me for completion of the work, he came back last weekend to collect it, only to find that there is a problem with central locking and electric window operation. It doesn't have remote C/L just 'key in slot' activation. All was well at the time the car was purchased, so this is something that has happened since then. I have no idea if the work I did has any bearing on this, but do actually doubt it as all I have done is remove and refit the N/S rear lamp cluster and remove OEM radio and fit a (cheap Chinese) double din item. I have obviously searched the forums for information and am amazed at how many VW vehicles have similar issues, but many different answers. The full symptom list from my fault appraisal is: Only drivers door unlocks from that side with key, but interior light doesn’t come on. If all doors unlocked, only drivers door locks from drivers side with key and no alarm LED. All doors unlock from passenger side with key and interior light comes on All doors lock from passenger side, alarm LED on drivers side lock button flashes and interior light goes out. All doors lock and unlock using internal button on drivers door card Electric windows do not operate from drivers door switches Passenger electric window operates from passenger side switch I have checked fuses and connections/wiring between drivers door and 'A' post and found nothing. This left me thinking it might be either the door lock (is it a master to the system?) or the CCU, however I decided to take the door card off again and have another good look at the cables and connectors. Now here is the strange thing. After removing both connector blocks from the electric window unit (drivers side) then clicking back in, the windows and central locking started working again. I then opened and closed the door (as in swing open) a number of times and the electrics returned to their 'less than perfect' functioning. Off came the connector blocks again and as soon as they clicked back into place, windows and doors worked correctly. This seems to be a cycle its now stuck in unfortunately so definitely not a permanent fix. My thoughts are with a) a loose connector in the block (it seems to be the larger of the 2 blocks that affects the outcome), b) a problem with the board onto which the male connector terminals are attached to, or c) a fragile wire. What I cannot work out is why the window winder motor should affect the central locking. If anyone can suggest why, I would appreciate it. Also if anyone has a wiring diagram that I can ponder over, that would be great. Thanks Steve
  4. Hi, I’m putting a remote locking kit into my 9n, I’ve been looking around for the wiring diagram to find out which cables from the passenger door I need to wire to my kit but I can’t find it any where, I have found it for the drivers door but I would rather do it on the passenger side, any advice will be appreciated
  5. I have polo 2006 and I wanted to add a remote key so I bought one on eBay. I tried to connect but having some troubles. I connected the + and -. Can someone send some picture of where I need to connect the wires of the locking, unlocking and windows closing/opening. * I mean to what wire do I need to connect the wires, if you can send the colors it will be great. Thanks and sorry if you didn’t understand what I’m wrote( I’m not that good in writing)
  6. Hi all, first post here, I have a 2003 Polo 1.4 tdi 3 door and am trying to add a HAWK remote locking system. The car does have central locking and I believe comfort closing. The whole car opens and closes but I have to lock/unlock the doors manually by inserting the key into the door each time. The windows open and close when holding the key in the lock/unlock position. I have read other people’s threads but none seems to relate to my cars wiring. I have got the wiring diagram for my car from a garage (will upload shortly)and instructions from HAWK (https://www.hawkcaralarm.com/View/NzVjN2MwNDEtMDU5OC00NDg3LThmYzQtY2VkN2NlYjg5YmUwLnBkZg==/hawk-ha-008-universal-central-lock-upgrade-manual.pdf) yet still cannot get it to work. I was hoping that somebody is able to give me any advice. Thank you for you time
  7. Hey guys I've had my polo for a while and I'm getting fed up with scrabbling around in the rain and the dark trying to get my keys in the door so I just purchased one of general Mao's finest "keyless entry systems" she arrived this morning a sight to behold straight from sin zen so the long and the curly of it is I could do with the wiring diagrams what for working out what ways I've got to connect the jeslus thing to make the pixies dance in the right way and then hopefully she will chooch rather than flashing once setting the horn ablaze and the then letting the smoke out. Reagards and thanks Mike
  8. Hello, I have recently purchased a 2006 polo TDI knowing it had a few electrical faults. One of these faults is that when the weather gets cold the central locking and windows fail to work. Stereo interior lights still work. Any ideas of where this issue could lie? Many thanks
  9. Good evening all! Right, just picked up my latest Polo, Last time it was a 6n 1.4 16v, Now I have gone for a 6n2 1.4 16v ( dam the reduction in power!) On the journey home I came across a few niggles I was wandering if you guys could help : 1. Heater control lights do not work. Dash Lights up fine, brightness controlls are fine, Hazard is fine, rear heated windscreen button lights up fine. Is this therefore likely to be just a bulb? 2. The central locking. Drivers side : put key in and turn, does not lock or unlock. If I turn it clockwise and hold it, the front windows go down. Passenger side : the key turns 360 degrees consistantly... When I first tried it, it locked, and unlock. As it locked it closed the front windows, as it unlocked it opened them.... Thats all for now Thanks in advance!
  10. hello i have a GTI 6n2 3 door and central locking pump in boot and both front door lock barrels are broken. Central locking pump circuit has burned inside. so no locking / unlocking available via key either due to broken barrels. Wanted to know if a cheaper aftermarket remote locking kit will still work independant of standard pump in the boot or does the actual pump has to be in working condition for the aftermarket kit to work. Secondly I have bought a kit and connected everything with the wires in the boot to the pump and aftermarket kit is operating fine but does not lock or unlock via remote. Just wondered if the pump must be in working condition for the remote to lock / unlock. Thanks.
  11. Hi all. My 2006 9N 1.4 TDI Polo Nearside door occasionally doesn't unlock with the rest of them when using the drivers door key. (the remote for my after market alarm used to do this for me but that doesn't work anymore) When i get in the car i have to reach over to pul the door lever to let my wife/passengers in. When using the central locking inside the car; from the button situation on the drivers door, this locks all of the doors most of the time but occasionally the button/rod in the passenger front door goes down briefly only to pop back up straightaway! I can reach over and press the rod down myself but it is not convenient. Any ideas.. is this a DIY job perhaps? appreciate your insights.
  12. I recently bought a 9n 54 plate Polo. We haven't refuelled it yet and the fuel flap doesn't open automatically. Should it open when the car is unlocked? I read that I can manually over ride it from inside the boot by pushing the actuator up with a screw driver but obviously this isn't ideal. Is this common and what's the fix? Not sure if it's related but the passenger door doesn't lock as it should when you lock the drivers side.
  13. Today i got a 1999 1.6 6n polo and the central locking was working fine, then i went to lock it and the passenger door would not lock, so i went to lock the passenger door and when i went to pull the key out of the lock, the lock came with it and it is now hanging out. Anyone know whats wrong with it? Many thanks, Jack
