I am currently in the process of fitting my G40 engine into my Mk2 Coupe S. I have got to the stage where I am about to fit the wiring loom and want some clarification on a couple of things. I have seen that it is possible to splice the G40 engine loom into the original Coupe S loom (something I would like to do as the original loom is in better condition to the main G40 loom) I saw this and want to know whether it really is as simple as it sounds ------ https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/mk1poloclub/mk1-g40-wiring-t1485.html Would the loom then be powered by the original Coupe S loom and fusebox? So, if I go ahead with what the guy has suggested, it leaves me with quite a bit of surplus Coupe S wiring, I suppose I just cut out? That leaves the Fuel Pump wiring, which I don't have, so would need to make my own, is this simple? What would I need as in relays etc? How will I get the pump to prime on the ignition etc? Sorry about the random questions, but wiring really isn't my thing lol, any help would be much appreciated! Cheers Gary.
Been staring at peoples build threads for months now, so I decided to give my own a go. bought a completely standard 1988 coupe s with only 60k miles on the clock! One old couple owner from new, it’s a true standard gem; however I’ve now got my hands on it... my plan is to keep it looking mostly original looking but underneath have some nice mods to bring it to fast road spec, well as fast as a 1.3 can be. More to follow over over the next few months!
Hi, could anyone please advise me I am needing to change my front wheel bearings and I can’t find any which look like the ones in my car which are open race bearings type, I can find sealed bearings which are bigger but does this mean I have to buy a different hub to fit these bearings or is there anywhere which would still sell the old style bearings please? my car is a vw polo coupe s mk2 1989 1.3 litre if anyone could please help me I would really appreciate it, thanks
Car Throttle: Saving Poly - A Rusty Project Car From The Scrap Yard - Volkswagen Polo Coupe S MK2 This week, we’ve teamed up with Shell V-Power to save an owner’s classic Polo from the scrap yard! The Volkswagen Polo Mk2 is the second generation of the Volkswagen Polo supermini. It was produced from late 1981 until 1994.
Hi I’m relatively new to the polo scene but have build a reasonable amount of knowledge on them already. I brought a non running mk2 Coupé s as a project. The previous owner had done a 1.4 afh engine swap, but the cam belt slipped so has suspected bend valves etc. I am looking to swap it back to the 1275cc standard engine. So have brought a mk2f breadvan as a donner ( mostly for engine parts ) and am wondering what some of the best things I can do to that engine (and the car in general) to increase BHP, performance etc ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. It already has a 5 speed gear box fitted. Thanks Jack ps sorry for accidentally posting 3 times
