    Another one bites the dust

You'd be forgiven for thinking this pic was taken in the early 90s...………..it was yesterday! Mate had spied a mk2 coupe lying at a house and was trying to find out what the deal was with it. This pair then appeared nearby. Total waste!!!!!

    Hi From Spain

Hello, my name is Salvador, I'm from Spain, Barcelona. and this is my vw polo coupe model CL from 1993, it has a 1.05L AAU engine, and right now it has 88k in the odometer. The truth is that I am very happy. I have a question if someone can answer me, my car is carburetion or fuel injection.
  4. hi guys, I've been a member on the forum for a while now and have owned a few Polo's but have never made a build thread so i thought it was about time i got started. I currently have a 1993 Tornado red 1 litre Coupe and the story goes.... i used to own this car and bought it when it was standard and drove it for a while but then decided it was too old and i wanted something new so i sold it to a friend and bought a 9n off another, had that for a while but then missed my mk2/f and just wanted something older again so i ended up doing a part-ex on another mk2/f that came lowered with ats classics and 8 spoke wellers. so i fell back in love with the mk2/f polo again and this time decided to do some work myself, fitted some camber shims and gave it more stretch etc... then got to the stage where i needed something faster so ripped the engine out and started smoothing the bay then found a hole in the battery tray and the front left sill (F**k Speedbumps) ohh and the back arches were cut off to fit my J.d.m arches hah. anyway gave up on it and bought myself a civic as I'm sure youll all love to hear , drove that for a while then heard that my polo was up for sale again so bought it back and i plan on never selling it again !!! since buying it back I've done a few bits, mostly what had been done to my previouse one with the parts from it, fitted corrado VR6 front seats removed the rear seats OMP Wheel and Boss fitted a glove box clear indicators wooden beetle gearknob beetle basket stainless manifold new fuel tank G40 exhaust G40 taillights Then the head gasket went!!!!!!!! :@:@:@:@ so..... engine out again and i thought i might aswell do the suspension and breaks at the same time too THE ENGINE turns out the engine was just gubbed so i removed it completely and used the aau from my previose polo, Rebuilt and fitted a 1.3 Gt head and cam, stainless manifold, stainless centre section and back box, new water pump, timing belt, gaskets, oil filter, spark plugs, coolant, etc.. cbr 600 bike carbs (still need wired up!! ) THE BRAKES being a 1 litre coupe fox the breaks were PISHHH so theyve been removed and replaced with 239x20mm vented G40 Discks and pads (mintex) VWII calipers, VWI carriers and Hell Braided hoses up front, with new Drums shoes and cylinders on the back with camber shims too and new wheel bearings all round. THE SUSPENSION I was running a 60mm kit on my old polo but that wasnt low enough, but lucky for me this polo came with a 80mm kit (wich i bought the first time i owned it but never fitted ), this still wasnt low enough so I've recently bought and fitted some TA Technix coilovers and now sits how i like it THE WHEELS Currently running 13"x7j front and 13"x8j rear Weller 8 spoke wheels (mad offset ) with 165/55/13 Nankang tyres, plenty camber and stretch on the back and rolled arches to get them under So thats what has been done, its not nuch of a build thread but i feel it will just be eaisier to say whats been done and then ill try upload some pics of the stuff thats been done and how it looks for those who are interested and ill try continue the thread from here and keep it upto date with pictures and posts WHATS NEXT finish covering my door cards finish rolling the arches more new tie rod assembly polly bush kit (maxRPM.de) Powerflex Black seriese Inner bushings Camber adjustable top mounts (maxRPM.de) braided fuel lines get the bike carbs wired up and setup properly make a subframe and sump guard/belly pan underseal the car toyo r888 or yoko semi slicks. thats whats been done uptill now and ill get some pics of my car when i bought it and my previous polos up soon and then keep you upto date with my progress and anything new, look forward to hearing what you guys think

    1984 Mk2 Coupe (Zender Kit)

Hi All, I posted this on here many, many years ago but now it's finally time to get it sorted! It was sat in the garden for years but when I moved and had a secure (& dry!) parking, I decided to get it road worthy! Already had some work done, but plenty to do. Next big project is getting the various bits of rust sorted and maybe try to sort a lowering kit. What would you do with it? Cheers, Ross

    Mk3 Black G40 Coupe

Think its about time I whacked up a thread for this as I've owned it over a month! Since I sold my old 6n2, kinda fancied getting back into a polo and successive other old dub projects had failed to scratch the itch (Purple VR6 Corrado that never worked and a Tornado Pink Mk2 Scirocco with a GTi Engineering RE2000 8V conversion) Also having done the VR6 thing, felt it was time to do the supercharged thing too All the way back in February I fuelled up the A5 and went for a trek up the M1 to see @grungeisdead about a dog/geniune G40 that he was selling that had a tasty specification After a long catch up and potter out in it, we came to a deal and I drove back a wrote up the advert for the RE2000 (which took a few months to sell!) Finally got sorted for the weekend before All Types (13th May) settled in for a long train ride up to Leeds So two trains and two and bit hours later, got to the car And a sort out of stuff and gave it a quick clean Quick run down of spec Stainless exhaust HnR Cup suspension with uprated ARB and rose jointed track arms (not sure on that, I've lost the advert and doing this by memory! Stage two charger (with a stage four to be rebuilt ) EBC discs and pads 65 mm pulley Boost gauge Rest is standard G/mk2f stuff So started off on my home, however car had other ideas, a gearbox issue that neither of us spotted or could've predicted reared its head, lost drive at 70mph on the M1 near Rotterham, managed to coast it off the carriageway at J33 and ended up having to be recovered home. Saf being the awesome mega sound dude that he is sorted me another gearbox out and I organised collection of my car by my mates VW garage to get it swapped over In meantime, the car sat on my drive looking sorry for itself so got new plates and holders on along with the obligatory WalshC pikeytech sticker in memory of our departed friend and legend Craig Walsh Also at the same time refurbished the snowflakes I had left over from the scirocco with a Volvo dark grey and slapped on some 195/45/14 Falkens as old 185/60/14 Conti's don't cut it on a G Whilst it was at the garage, it had some good company However we found the replacement box (CEG code) didn't like 5th and kept jumping out (also needed to replace the linkage as I'd broken the ball at the bottom of the stick in order to get it out of gear so could roll for recovery!) So trip to Shropshire for the linkage and a run up to Tibshelf to meet someone halfway for another box (8P this time) and we got it in and back up and running (With an appearance by my dad's new Ateca and my mum's Fabia ) So after lots of brapping about all weekend, set about sorting the matte bonnet that had green coming through And all was well....or so I thought Took it to work on Monday morning just gone, I work 26 miles from home and go M5/M42 and about 7 miles away it started doing odd things and having no power, up until it died on me in the rush hour traffic Queue calling the RAC who said its the alternator, charged me up and followed me to work, however a chat with a few people we agreed it wasn't and set about checking the charge circuit, then found this: ] Left in works secure carpark over night, got lift home and back the next morning but with new strap, tools and battery charger, borrowed electricity off work and got it back in and now seems to be sweet, just goes to show, never take what RAC/recovery say to you as rite! That was until I cut out again on me, this time thankfully just as I pulled onto my drive. After lots of conflab and head scratching and new plugs, couldn't figure out why it wouldn't start, I loaded up my daily A5 to get to Polo Social. Upon the arrival of the Scottish contingent, Steven said to me 'we're going back to yours tomorrow to get the G', never argue with a Scotsman! So we loaded up in two cars, me and @CHRIS2911 in the Audi and @kwijibo_coupe & @citrus in Steven's G-Turbo, we got 20 miles and Steven's clutch cable broke, queue all piling in a 2 door coupe to go to local garage to try a repair/order another. Ended up ordering another cable which would take 3 hours to arrive so we did the jag back to Brum from the other side of Nottingham. We set to work on the G, took the fuel pipe off the rail and cranked it to find not much coming through, so Steven had a look at the pump and we put another 5 litres in to give it the best chance, 3 cranks and 1 failed start it started, sender to gauge appears to be a bit off as it reads 1/4 when its nowhere near! (filled up with 40 litres, did 250 miles of driving and it still reads a 1/4, I think not!) Queue going four up in a G40 (with a video that Steven took ending up on the club's Instagram thanks to Dean!) with a diversion round traffic and stop to adjust the timing, then back to garage for clutch cable, return to fix Steven's car then return to Polo Social (left at 11am, back for 6pm) Saturday afternoon at Polo Social saw a few people descend on it to sort out a few niggles and to refit the front bumper (needs a pair of bumpers really) and codes read and removed by Gaz on Sunday After the show finished decided to give it its first proper clean in my ownership and it came out pretty well (still need to sort out the bonnet!) and lined up with Steven and Scott's cars for the A-polo-clypse photo below (courtesy of @Cymro) So that brings us up to date, still lots to do and maybe improve on (there's no stereo or speakers!) but all in good time, just going to enjoy it for now
  8. Model: 1992 Polo CL Coupe Engine: 1390cc AFH on standard 6n injection Suspension: TBC Brakes: Standard Wheels and Tyres: BMW E30 Bottle Tops 14 x 6 ET35 Exterior Styling: Standard, rusty, bit of a state Interior Styling: Corrado seats, GT clocks To Do List: Too much to list... Better late than never for a build thread I suppose. I bought this Polo at the Polo Social 2017. Within 5 minutes of being on site at the Social it was affectionately nicknamed "The White Shed of Excellence" thanks to @jonPDpolo. The reasons for which I'll not go into, if you know...you know. The thing was a state, had been sitting for a while since the previous owner had moved abroad. However it had been converted a few years ago to an AFH and had been looked after at some point. So as a result it drove back to the camp site and then back home to Scotland the next day pretty much flawlessly. This is how I picked it up. Unfortunately lost the 'L' from this windscreen sticker Got it home and desperately had to do something to it right away. First thing I thought of was swapping the old clocks out for a set with a rev counter. A few days later it went up to visit the 'Death Van' which was sitting up at my mates house. We agreed on a deal for him to buy the van off me so long as I could take "a few" parts off the car... I may have taken a little bit more than I made out... Anyway the front end of the car went from this. To this. Much better I thought. Over the next few weeks when time allowed it was just a case of cleaning things up when I could. Starting with the state of the engine bay. I do love the look of an AFH in these. Also sorted something that had been annoying me from a safety point of view. The Corrado seats have a really tall seatbelt clip. Me being a skinny chap meant the lap belt didn't actually contact me at all. Just went over the seat and flopped about. So to try and avoid submarining in the event of an accident I swapped the Corrado seatbelt clip for one off a G40 seat. Success, the lap belt now contacts me as it should with a bit of room in the belt to spare before the stopping pin thing. Onto a cosmetic annoyance was the colour coded bumpers. As I'd changed the front for a none colour coded item I set about changing the rear. The best one I had in my collection was a 'race spec' one that had been drilled a bit Looks better than the colour coded one anyway. A few more bits and pieces were sorted then it was time to put it on a complete set of wheels. Went for a set of 14" BBS RAs at first which I think looked alright. I then got my hands on a set of BMW E30 bottle tops. I think they looked a little better. That was pretty much that for a while.

  10. So today my car decided to die on my way to work. Basically when you try to start it, it turns over but won't fire and doesn't even try to. The AA said it was my ignition coil; we have since replaced this but it still has the same fault. However it will now start sometimes but then cut out again after a minute or so and then won't restart. Leave it for a few hours and it will start, but again cuts out. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks in advance!

    Mk2/2f Parts Clearout

My last lot of Mk2/2f bits are listed below. Postage for most things should be around the £5 mark. I would prefer the larger parts be collected from me in Southampton, but if this isn't practical, I can obtain a quote for shipping (although it might be fair bit more). I've posted pictues of some of the parts below, but can get pictures of any other parts on request. Interior TIM Boost guage £5 Mk2 headlight switch £1 Mk2 hazard light switch £1 Mk2 fog light switch £1 Mk2 heated rear window switch Mk2 full seatbelt set £5 Mk2 indicator stalk £3 5 speed gearknob £2 Mk2 Coupe home made parcel shelf with Pioneer TS-A1703i speakers; made from 18mm MDF and braced to prevent warping; may split speakers £20 Mk2 glovebox; interior lining has fallen away slightly (see picture) £5 Mk2 back carpet; rear section only* £5 Exterior Mk2 Headlights (pair) £10 Mk2 Coupe rear lights (pair) £10 Mk2 Orange side indicators (pair) Mk2 Orange front bumper indicators (pair) £2 Mk2 front wiper arms (pair) £5 Front wipers (pair); unused and boxed £3 Mk2 Coupe S sideskirts £10* Mk2 Coupe gutter trims (pair); slight buckling in both where they've been removed and re-fitted and one has minor cracking £5 Mk2 Coupe rear bumper; reasonable condition with slight scrape on one side (see picture) £5* Mk2 Coupe rear bumper; boxed and in perfect condition £20* Mk2 Coupe S badge; reasonable condition, some colour has rubbed away £5 Mk2 rear "VW" badge; reasonable condition, some colour has been rubbed off £3 Mk2 rear "Volkswagen" badge; in packet and in perfect condition £10 Mk2 Coupe "GT" rear badge; not to be confused with the Mk2F one. These are extremely hard to get hold of, but I have two. One is pretty much perfect. With the exception of a little bit of the sticky backing left on it, you'd be hard pushed to see it had been used before. The other is in good condition, but the colour has faded slightly, there are two tiny paler dots in the colour and it looks like something has rubbed it ever so slighltly. However, you've got to look very closely to see these imperfections. I'm not sure what they're worth, but will start at asking for £75 for the former and £60 for the later. Feel free to make an offer though. I'll probably hang on for a few weeks to see what I can get for them though. I'd rather not use eBay due to problems with timewasters. Mechanical, under bonnet etc. K&N cone filter; unused, 58mm connector £10 Genuine oil filter for G40 engine; unused and boxed, with sump washer £2 Mk2 fusebox £5 Mk2 front wiper motor assembly £5 Mk2 Coupe rear wiper motor £5 Mk2f Washer bottle and motor £5 G40 return boost hose elbow to supercharger £2 Mk2 battery negative lead £2 Revotec adjustable radiator fan switch £10 G40 flying saucer £2 G40 toothed belt; unused £5 G40 clutch cable £3 Mk2 speedo cable; only covered a few hundred miles £5 Mk2f front washer bottle & pump £3 Mk2 rear washer bottle & pump; pump possibly faulty £2 Earth strap; from charger to chassis leg £1 Halfords 65mm exhaust clamp; unused and in its packet £1 Mk2 jack £5 G40 calipers; pair, one is new, probably refurbished, replaced a caliper where the bleed nipple got stuck and the other caliper is probably original. New car, mk2 coupe s

Hi guys. Been on the forum before but not since my breadvan went to the big scrappy in the sky. Ive been wanting back into the polos for a while and I've just picked up a little coupe s that's been off the road for about 4 years. 80k on the clock and a stack of history with it. Anyone know the car? Bought it off a guy in Dundee and I think it was in Edinburgh before that. Needs a bit of tlc but feels solid. ?

    Mk2 Coupe Seats

Hi all, Does anyone know if any other seats fit the Mk2 Coupe? Mine are starting to wear so was looking for alternatives. Cheers! :)
  14. Hi all, Has anyone ever removed the fuel tank from a Mk2 Coupe? Mine has a leak so was just wondering how easy (or difficult!) it is. Any help would be appreciated :) Thanks!
  15. Has anyone ever removed the black bump strips from their doors? Thinking of taking mine off and was curious on what to expect underneath and what's the best way to remove them. Thanks!

    Polo coupe 86c fox spoilers

I'v had my polo for about 3 years and it's been a great little car. At the moment the things I'v done to the car is lowed it 40mm, put 15 inch ATS Cups with spaces, vinyl the window pilers and a home made front lip. The front lip was made from left over parts of a project I'm working at the moment winch I'll say a bit more in a sec. The lip is made from two spoilers from a mk3 coupe, when I was messing around with them I realized the curve is the same as the front bumper curve. As I did not need them any more I thought why not, cut one in half and the other to fit the the gap. It reminds me of the Mk1 golf front lip. I get mixed thought's from people if they like it or not but I like it as it's different. It clears most speed bumps but, if it snow to much this year I might become a snow plow. ^^ Right the project I'm working on at the moment is a louvre for the coupe, I had seen some pictures on mk1-2 golfs and I did not think they looked to bad, I looked on Ebay for some but as louvre spoiler are rare in them self they where in the hundreds, it would be a shame to cut one up to fit to the rear window as well, I decided to make one. The benefits of this were much better than buying an existing one which would not fit. And learn how to fibre glass as I had never done it before. A quick "bad" Photoshop of what it would look like. I got a spoiler and made two molds out of fibrer glass. one mold was the hole spoiler and the other just the middle part of the spoiler to make the spoiler wider for the bottom of the window. So far I'm ready to make the first fibre glass spoiler for the louvre, going to wait after Christmas to start again before I go back to work. If this does all work out well and I have a final big mold I might make some to sell and then sell the mold off, But I am a Long way to be thinking about that. ^^

    mk2f polo coupe

this is my first time using this forum and got asked to make a thread on my build. now some of you more experienced guys I hope will guide my through some of the modification, I bought a mk2f polo from a friend and all the extra's that he was going to use for his build, but i've taken it over and added many more parts. so quick go through of all the parts I have here. mk2f polo coupe 1.4 abd block with gt head m65 eaton charger with 62mm pulley water meth injection bmw 330d intercooler stage 2 subframe corbaeu bucket seats 4 point harness safety devices multipoint roll cage made my own short shifter (similar to CAE) mocal 13 row oil cooler with thermostat battery relocated to the boot 4-2-1 branch manifold lower top mounts 80mm front drop 60mm rear drop adjustable shocks TA technics I've stripped the car this week and loosely fitted the roll cage ready for welding the floor supports in this weekend amongst getting the seat brackets welded in, only 2 patch of rust to be fixed where the old battery area used to be, (guessing battery acid ate away at it at some point). the car needs resparying at some point and been looking at house of colour 'root beer candy' with added flake. but that's on hold now due to a holiday to south Africa next year now. looking forward to this build and want to do as much as I can myself, which isn't always easy as I'm not a mechanic ( chef by trade). ill try up load some pics of the build so far and any tips/info welcome, will mostly be what ecu, fueling to use. %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/2112967B-8FA8-479E-9EFA-34957DCF4ED9_zps1yifaufs.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/2112967B-8FA8-479E-9EFA-34957DCF4ED9_zps1yifaufs.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/4881C65E-9086-4BA8-B773-DBF606808652_zpsqeumfzbh.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/4881C65E-9086-4BA8-B773-DBF606808652_zpsqeumfzbh.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/8652C3AE-1EC9-40BC-9C9F-EF62235E0F51_zpst66vq16j.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/8652C3AE-1EC9-40BC-9C9F-EF62235E0F51_zpst66vq16j.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/FE373F10-EBF9-440C-9FA8-49C906FB229C_zps2j7jvx6w.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/FE373F10-EBF9-440C-9FA8-49C906FB229C_zps2j7jvx6w.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/D9EE1784-CB8C-4746-8268-1CCA383F4B68_zpsdsoju7ep.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/D9EE1784-CB8C-4746-8268-1CCA383F4B68_zpsdsoju7ep.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/F1D1F0BD-6B4B-467C-A7B2-615FAA2F13E9_zpsvfbwp8r8.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/F1D1F0BD-6B4B-467C-A7B2-615FAA2F13E9_zpsvfbwp8r8.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D %5BURL=http://s1060.photobucket.com/user/broady2188/media/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/DB65D45D-B128-459C-9D4E-857A5FAE4CB4_zps5gvifst5.jpg.html%5D%5BIMG%5Dhttp://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t457/broady2188/Mobile%20Uploads/2017-06/DB65D45D-B128-459C-9D4E-857A5FAE4CB4_zps5gvifst5.jpg%5B/IMG%5D%5B/URL%5D

    Polo coupe price help!

Hi all, I have been to see a quite tidy polo coupe today but just want some opinions on the price. Its up for £799 and has only two months mot left. Tidy alloys, runs really well. Been modified slightly but looks decent. Only 75k on the clock. Been lowered a fair bit too. Is it worth 850 with full years mot? its only a 1l but seems quite pokey and runs good. What do do you think??

Hi everyone im Dave from sunny Blackpool... Very new member with a very new project, Just picked up (today) a 1983 Polo Coupe... 62,000 miles. and apparently has been garage kept for the past 10 yrs..... .. took a massive gamble buying blind, as the car was over 2 hrs away to view... but picked this up for less than £500.... so far exterior seems very solid! needs a new passenger door panel wise..... hope to start stripping to bare shell this weekend... Full restoration in mine... has a 1.0L not sure what the popular swap would be., ideas please.. Im new to the classic polo, I did have a 6n2GTI a few yrs back.... so i will have plenty of questions and no doubt need help Dave.

    Polo coupe First car

Hi guys, So my name is Olaf, I am 18 years old and I am studying mechanical engineering I bought this polo with my dad for me, to get some experience in wrenching on my own car. The idea is to fix this car up, because it's a nice base but it has some issues.
  23. Hello every body I hope that one of you can help me with a little question. I'm in the process of building an PY engine from scratch. the goal is that it is going to run with a G60-Lader and would make around the 200hp. what things should I change out before it can be done and what should be changed for it to be fairly reliable. I hope that one of you can help me things I already have: G60-Lader G60 nozzles schrik cam extra engine spare engine control spare gearbox Things that jeg have in mind: Piston oil cooling Separate oil system to G-lader new chip and "boos control" exhaust system. https://goo.gl/photos/4HdPUcyURv2voN1Q9

Marco - 1990 Polo Coupe Project

So I recently purchased my first Polo Coupe (long overdue, I have been dreaming about one of these for a good few years). I found him not too far away from where I was living, on an eBay auction, with a starting bid of £400 with a week to run. After a short, hurried test drive in a thunderstorm and a brief checkover in a multi-storey car park I followed my heart over my head and made an offer of £500 to buy and collect that evening. It was agreed, and I had a new best friend. Ignore the quality of the photo's, they were taken off the ad as you can see there was a lot of work to do as I quickly decided that this was going to be a show project. I wanted him ready for the show and shine at Bug Jam 24/07/16. 5 weeks after purchase. I know he won't win yet, but I want him to give some of the others a run for their money! I will update the road to Bug Jam here:

    1980 Inari Silver GLS

I've moved this thread across from the Mk1 Polo Forums as its a bit more active over here okay so here we go.... My 1980 Mk1. I found the car on eBay. It's been off the road since '93 so it's gonna need some work I'm looking at a full resto. The car runs and drives (on choke for now) all the trim and interior bits are all there. It just needs (a lot) of welding
