  1. Hey Guys, Got a 3 door 6N2 Polo, and my speakers went bust. During the time from when it went bust to replacing them, I realised my tweeters (the upper small white panel on door corners) were dying out slowly. I need new tweeters but I cant find them anywhere. Can someone suggest where I can get good ones? BTW, the stock ones have capicitors so I guess I should keep the capacitors and stick them to the new ones? i also measured the tweeter diameter at about 24mm. Even If I do find and get it, how do I take the stock ones out of the upper plastic door piece because it looks like I have to break it? And can someone send a link of them please? Thanks
  2. Hi there, I'm trying to re-fit my front door handles after a bit of painting. Rears went on fine but cannot for the life of me see how the fronts are supposed to go on. I need to line the paddle thing from the lock up with the slot for the central locking AND get the handle pull to clip into place. Seems impossible from the outside. Anyone have any tips, experience or guides? Cheers
  3. A couple of years ago we had an MOT failure on one of the door locks of our 2002 1.2 Polo sticking. Unfortunately this cost us £400 to have repaired but since then other locks now intermittently stick. I try with the key in the door as well as the interior door button but the problem gets worse, even the one we had fixed has since started to stick which begs the question is it more electrical then mechanical ? The locks seem to work better when the car has been running a little but the problem does get worse these last few weeks. Don't use the car that much which won't help. Once a week usually. As the MOT is up again next month I don't want to be in the same scenario having to pay again for such an old car with over 100K on the clock, as much as I like the car still. Any advice what this could be please ?
  4. Lock the car with the keyed central locking, (as opposed to remote) and after a short period, the drivers window lowers. If the door is left unlocked, it stays up. Any suggestions?
  5. The boot lock on my 6n (central locking removed) has stopped working properly. I can now only unlock the door by turning the key slightly to the right then back again and pulling it out. Previously I would turn halfway to the left and that was it’s normal unlocked state. Can get by like this but obviously not ideal and it doesn’t feel particularly good. Anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix? Thanks
  6. Needed to replace the window motor and when I took the door card off, the inner foam panel has been wrecked. Does anyone know if you can get these new ? or a good substitute?replacement ?
  7. Hello everyone, I bought a 2000 VW Polo 6N2 last October as a car to use during the winter so I didn't have to use the motorbike. When I bought it there was no lock cylinder in the driver's side door, so I've never been able to lock it. Now i'm thinking about selling it and would like to sort the locks out. This is where it gets confusing. I bought a pair of cylinders c/w keys, paddles and springs thinking that would sort it (1st image). I also bought a lock repair kit just in case any bits were missing (2nd image). I then took the passenger's side door handle off to check whether the lock cylinder was the same as the one I had bought. It turns out they are different (3rd image). Were there 2 types of locks fitted to these cars or am I missing something here? I can find loads of repair kits on eBay etc. to repair the type of lock that I have but I can't find the lock cylinder itself anywhere. I don't think the hook type shown in the 1st image will fit as there are lugs missing and the part where the key goes in appears to be smaller in diameter. I don't want to spend a fortune as the car isn't worth a huge amount but I'd like to get it sorted for the next owner if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Mark
  8. Hi I have an issue where my nearside front door won't open I can't put the key in as it won't turn either way to unlock/lock it either, it is just stuck locked any help would be appreciated thanks

    My Red 6n2 Build Thread?

Hi everyone! My name is Alex and im new to club polo, i drive a flash red 5 door 6n2 polo and i love it! ive had the car for a while now and have started to do some modifications to get it how i want it to look, i am on a student budget so coilovers will have to wait until i can save up - anyway, here is my build thread so far! So the little polo had been sat for years in a bush with a broken gearbox and plants growing all over it, until i came along and with help from friends and family we got her a new box and got her on the road. This is her stock on standard steelies - such a pretty little machine! First thing i new i wanted was wheels, so my dad got in touch with a mate and managed to get me some BBS RAs - from a mk2 golf gti! Then i decided to paint a few things. First i did my front grill black to make it stand out a bit more - i also painted my front splitter red to make the bumper look a bit smoother, what a difference that made! i got a hold of some new door speakers for free so i installed those with new grates - they sound way better than my standard ones i thought my front end could do with an added touch so i took the 16v badge from my engine cover and glued it to my grill - looking good! also got a guy on facebook to photoshop my car slammed! Its gonna look so good! hopefully i will remember to upload some more photos as the build progresses! Or simply follow me on instagram @alex.6n2 ??
