Hello all, New member here. Happy to have found this forum, with so many interesting topics! Before I visit the repair shop and pay 110 euro for a new lock motor installation, I would like to share my problem here, in case there is anything that can be saved. here goes: i) When I use the key from the driver's side, all doors lock and unlock fine. Nothing to see here. ii) When I use the key from the passenger side, all doors lock fine, however unlocking does not do it for the driver door (90% fail rate). All other doors unlock fine. iii) When inside the car and using the lock/unlock switch, doors will lock fine, but again will unlock all except the driver's door (same fail ratio) iv) When using my chinese ebay remote fob installed 6 years ago (should have gone for the OEM solution, I know), again doors will lock fine, but unlocking opens all except driver's door again. So to sum up, locking always works for all doors. Unlocking works for all doors except the driver's. Unless I put the key in the driver's lock, which then works fine. Questions: 1) Is it 100% needed to change the expensive entire locking motor to fix the problem? Or could something be blocking the mechanism? Something that could be "refreshed" or cleaned up and work somehow? 2) Could my cheap chinese remote lock kit have caused the degradation of the lock motor mechanism? Will I see a difference if I temporarily remove it from the car? Thanks a lot in advance, Alex
Okay so here it is. My new sensible Daily while I'm working on my Mk1. This car is replacing my 1.2 4 Door 9n (I know its boring). So this is now my "Sensible car" The Car has full service history, only done 92000 and a shed load of receipts. My plans are to get the front sitting lower as its a bit out of balance with the rear right now And I'm gonna paint that badge Black because it looks awful in Red Other than that i'm just trying to tidy it up and get it sitting nice. I may remove the rear seats in the future for a False floor but i haven't decided yet
Hi all I thought i would start a topic about my mk1, not a great deal of content but I'm slowly learning my way around it and changing bits and pieces, the main aim to to tidy her up a bit! I brought the car almost 2 years ago now from sheffield (I'm from leatherhead in surrey). and have hardly any problems with her other than replacing the CV Joint! anyway, some pictures from when i brought her to ash she stands today! And thats up to date! plans going forward are; - Remove the shitty tints, maybe replace all windows aswell. -Get rid of the exhaust and return to standard (the one on currently is a bodged job from previous owner!). - Either finish refurbing the ATS or purchase some banded steels/bbs splits or schmidt th lines! - Clean up the engine bay. -Fit a stereo! -Lower her more when i have sorted wheels -maybe fit series one bumpers, undecided on this though. Thanks Toby
