  1. Just a short video showing the drive shaft bolts so you can see what you need before you get under there
  2. when you grease the cv joint on the driveshaft end that connects to the gearbox flange, do you also have to put some grease on the gearbox flange side?
  3. Well lads new to this site have a 6n2 for nearly 2 years now any problem I was able to sort easy but this is just driving me mad now . . . have a horrible grinding noise coming from my driver side as I turn left not just on full lock anyway to the left or sometimes as I go straight its not my drive shaft that used to rub when I had it on 14s but have the car higher now cos have bigger wheels . . . any one have any ideas what it could be?
  4. alright boys, just trying to work out in my head what's going with my polo (mk2f) its pritty low, and I was cruising to a meet a while back and hit a hole or dip in the m25, something when bang and the drive shaft weight started hitting the bell housing because the drive shaft Had actually came out about 15-20mm (yes the weight is that close) because of the angle of the shafts being so low but, when I stopped I noticed the drive shaft actually moves side to side as in, in and out the gear box, no up and down movement at all, this is drivers side with this problem, passengers side doesn't slide at all, and the weird bit is it actually drove home sweet? im thinking inner cv given up maybe, or something holding the gearbox flange in has given up? and ideas i would be grateful and can some one go grab there drive shafts and try move them in and out of the box? Lol
  5. Hey guys Hopefully this is the right area to ask the question, I'll just get straight to the point. Basically my car (details at end) for the last 3000 miles has been making a whining noise. Its always been fairly noisy inside due to road noise but this is different. At first I thought it was just tyre noise but it isn't, it also doesn't seem to be wheel bearing (doesn't get louder or dissapear when turning) The noise is a humming/wuring sound, noticeable starting around 25-30mph (quite faintly) but then gets louder and increases pitch the faster I go. At around 60 its fairly loud, sometimes I have to turn my radio up to here it clearly. The only way I can really explain the sound is like tyre noise, increasing pitch and noise with speed. The sound doesn't go away with either clutch in or out. Noise seems to be coming from behind dash (hard to tell exactly where about) Sometimes in the morning 3rd gear crunches a little bit, seems to also drop into 3rd gear occasionally too. No problem ever with other gears So the question is, has anyone had this problem before, or had any experience with this and know the problem? My concern was whether its something to do with driveshaft. Car: Vw Polo 6n2 1.4 TDI SE Mileage: 158,000ish Thanks in advance

    Cv joints don't fit

Hi I have a 1.6 8v aee engine and unidentified gearbox but presumed standard. I bought some after market inner cv joints. thing is they are slightly too big on the diameter to fit in the register of the diff cup/flange. The new cv's are 89.73 (90) mm dia and my old ones are 88.92 dia. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
  7. i have a 2001 polo 6n2 and got coilovers fitted to it about a month ago now and lowered it as much as i could (but still enough so i could turn full lock without hitting the arches) last week i was driving back to work and the inner driveshaft came out. so i got it taken to the garage and got it all bolted back up but then i noticed i had a gearbox oil leak. i then got it back up on the ramp and changed the oil seal where the flange sits in the gearbox, put it all back together and it was still leaking. i asked a mechanic and he says it will probs need a new gearbox.so thats what I'm going to do (get a new gearbox) was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else and if so is there a way i can prevent it from happening again cheers in advance darren
