Hi all, my 1.4 8v polo (AEX) is having some odd issues, they’re not much of a problem at the moment but want to nip anything in the bud. 90% of the time it idles fine but occasionally it’ll idle at a noticeable higher speed for 10-20 seconds and then drop down to a near stall before stabilising again. Recently I’ve also noticed that sometimes if I stall the car it’ll be very sluggish to start again, struggling at about 500rpm until I give it some throttle, it’ll run fine again after that. I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the temp sensor? It seems to heat up fine and show on the gauge but the gauge has never, ever moved past about 90, even on 5+ hour motorway trips. my other thought was the PCV valve? I often get a very oily petrol smell when stationary with the blowers on, and there’s a fair coating of oil in the air box.(level has never noticeably dropped while I’ve owned the car however) Any idea what I can do to test all these, should I even be worried? Hi all, My car, Mk 2 with a GT engine, was suffering from jerky acceleration on low throttle, I attached an engine diagnostic tool and it showed fault code 00518, which is a faulty Throttle Position sensor. I purchased the Corrado VR6 hella replacement as suggested on another thread on here, fitted it about a month ago and all problems and codes seemed to disappear. Until today that is when the exact same problem and fault code returned. Is it a faulty new sensor or is there anything else that could be causing this? I'm guessing it could be a faulty ECU? Thanks for any help Andy

Hi All Thought I would get a second opinion, a while back I noticed that the rear side passenger door was not opening and when I asked our family mechanic he said that it is a common fault on the Polo's. He said it happens when the deadlock does not disengage and then remains "locked". To fix it he said you basically need to rip the door of and replace all of the insides costing upwards of £300+ Surely there must be a better way than to have to destroy the current door? I want to fix the couple of issues with it before I sell it but don't obviously want it to cost me a fortune to do so. Thanks
  4. Hi, I have a Y reg 6n2 polo and have a couple of problems. Firstly, the temperature gauge is faulty as it normally stays around 0 and occasionally might go up to 90 and then will drop down again. Also, after driving after 10 or so minutes, the dashboard gets quite hot, even when the heater is turned off. On long journeys, it gets unbearable and have to open a window. Could these be linked? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Jack
  5. I'm not sure what is wrong with the rear wiper on my 9N2. I've had this issue now with two wiper arms, as I changed the stock one after it snapped on me. When its on, it seems to miss quite a large circle patch in the middle of the rear wind screen and it's really annoying. Any suggestions?
