    Everyday 6n (first car)

Hello ! I recently bought my first car and this forum has inspired me to make my car be really mine (you know what I mean). The bad part: The car interior is very dirty The ceiling cloth has fallen Clutch is not sounding very well but it feels right. Central locking isn't working (I am the central locking system LOL) Exterior is totally destructed The good part: Front suspension feels new Rear speakers (clarion, they sound fine to me but I am not an expert) New 4 tires New battery The very first photo of the car First steps Clean the car interior Repair the ceiling cloth The steering wheel (it's pretty normal for Spain, the sun here burns everything) Maybe some new hubcaps I hope this car ends up as a tidy and robust everyday car. :)

"Pennie" mk6 summer blue 1.2 petrol

Here I got a 1.2 petrol mk6 Polo that I got as my first car, I've had her for almost 3 years now and is a working progress still. I have only done one or two mods to the car since getting, which I have resprayed the steelies to matte black and have put a aftermarket double din radio in (Not the best idea, it's a little to big for it). But I do hope to do a lot more for the car soon. Want to do list: 🔹️3SDM 0.05 silver 16 inch 🔹️coilovers or air suspension at some point 🔹️repaint the car (paint have been chipped away in places) 🔹️aftermarket bsdgless grill (one on the car is broke after someone in a land rover reversed into it) 🔹️redo entire interior with maybe so upholstered recaro seats to make the new interior 🔹️2 litre golf/leon engine conversion 🔹️probably also a 6 speed gearbox to match 🔹️GT kit bumpers and skirts No pictures yet because it won't let me add any, but yeah let me know what you think. Am I taking on too big of a project for a first car haha.

    My First Polo :)

This is my Polo Sport :) I will be making modifications to this car to suit my own desire
  5. Hi guys, I've recently joined this forum and thought I'd start doing a build thread of what I've already done and planning/thinking of doing in the future! I'm just your average joe who has a passion for cars and the work that goes into them to make them your own which is one of the main reasons I have started to modify my own car. I mean why should you or I have a car that's the same as everyone else's?! About the car: As stated in the title I own a Polo 6n2 (Polly). it's a 1.4 SE 5 door model with the standard features such as, front fogs, sunroof and electric windows and mirrors. I also think the mirrors are heated too but not 100% on that. I had my heart set on a 6n2 ever since I was learning to drive and waited ages to get my first car. Ideally I wanted a GTI and a 3 door rather than 5 but insurance quotes was killing me on a GTI so had to settle for a 1.4. Plus my mum has back problems so in the end I opted for a 5 door in case she ever needed to get in the back :) So I bought this car as my first car back in September with the only modifications being coilovers, fly eyed rear lights, a pioneer head unit and a crappy sub. Bought the car on the basis that it had all the main mechanicals looked at and rectified and with low miles was a decent price. It had the clutch, altenator cambelt all the usuals done and came with 12 months MOT. However in my opinion the things that let the car down was a faulty drivers window switch and the body work but it is 16 years old so can't expect anything to be in show room condition! So enough of that time to upload some pictures and more descriptions of what I have done since owning her! This was when I bought it and the fly eye rubbish came straight off as it wasn't my kind of thing! I then had to raise it due to insurance and more obvious than that winter was coming up and didn't want to drive about in a snow plough haha. This is kind of what it looked like after I had raised it! I know the back is slightly higher than the front but hey ho I wasn't overly fussed about it. After discussing A LOT with a friend with my ideas for her the first thing I did was to swap out for the pioneer for my alpine head unit! Have had this for years when I rebuilt an old mini which was to be my first car when I was younger but plans changed and kept it! Next modification after a simple thing as that was smoothing the front rub strip off - I didn't want to smooth off the whole bumper as I prefer the oem look and this is the route I was thinking of going down. Here are a few pics of the progress of how I went about it :) The strip was only sprayed with a rattle can made in LA7W and it's not perfect but it's pretty close! In the last picture with the rub strip finally on the car you may notice that there are GTI headlights on! Whilst I was doing the rub strip I decided whilst the bumper was off to start chopping the slam panel to get the headlights to fit. They were a little yellow when I bought them but nothing major. I flattened them down with some 800, 1000 wet and dry and then polished with G3. I could do with a going over again with 2000 grit. In the same purchase I got a GTI grill too which was then fitted to the car. I ordered the red strip that new golfs have on their gril and then fitted! Here's some more pics of this! A before and after with the grills I also removed the "static" sticker on the bumper when smoothing the rub strip. A picture with the red strip on the grill I think it makes a big improvement on the grill.

    Polo 6N2 First Project

Hello everyone. I'm Edy from Romania and this summer i will buy from my uncle a Polo 6N2, 4 doors, 1.4i and I want to modify it. First I wanted to change the bodykit then paint it with plastidip, demon eyes headlights smokey taillights, sport suspension, sport filters and more. But I don't know with what I should start the project. I hope that this post is now off-topic and if it is I will delete it. I want to know what I should modify, check, change on the car on the mechanical part first. Thank you.

    Mk2 Breadvan as First Car?

Essentially I've been looking at these little beauties (Mk2 Polo Breadvan) for a while now and wanted to know if they would be a suitable first car? Also in terms of insurance where would I be looking, considering I'll be a new driver 18/19 years old. I'd like to get an older model so would I be able to qualify for classic insurance? Just read that somewhere. Thanks!!
  8. Okay here goes.. hi I've been on here a few months now and I always find myself reading the build threads so I thought I'd give my own a go! Had my car 6 months now and have been slowly changing it to how I want. It looked like this when I got it (sorry about the terrible photos, they were took on my phone)

As snug as a dub in a rug!

Hello! My name is Kacey and this is my first little post about my first car Sheila. Got a silver polo, 2001, bought it from a friend who spoke highly of the motor. With no tax or mot he wanted £600. After inspection I realised it needed 4 new tyres, plus the spare (which is currently on the car). I offered him £400 and we shook hands. After getting it towed to my house I realised the damage was worse than I first thought. Being a young woman I was very much misguided with the purchase of my first vehicle. Once we jumped the car and got the battery going it was easy to tell that the exhaust was blowing. After torrential downpour I noticed a small puddle on the passenger floor, turns out the sealant has a break in it somewhere which is causing the car to flood slightly. Alongside this, the glovebox has water inside it which poured out when it was opened which makes me nervous about the possibility of damage to the dashboard. The windscreen has 2 small cracks in it and the door card has 3 holes in it. God only knows how. The rear bumper has a nice red mark on it where somewhere has unfortunately scratched their paint, but silver lining, there is no dent. A few bits of rust here and there and holes in the driver and passenger floor mats. The mirror switch is broken, which as a learner driver, is a sad thing for me. Despite all this, under the bonnet seems a little unloved but all in good shape. Since being falsely sold this vehicle I have decided to turn it into a positive thing. Not only has my knowledge improved, I have also been excited by the project at hand. And even helped a friend change her wheel last night which is a big step for me! So far I have sorted vehicle specific alloys and new tyres, vehicle specific floor mats and I have been to a local car graveyard to source an exhaust. First things first: THE BIG CLEAN! I have a feeling this car hadn't had a good clean (or service) in many years. So much so that there was moss growing inside the driver window. So we gathered all essential cleaning products and got to work. She is now all shiny with a tarpaulin wrapped around her to keep her clean and tidy while I gather the resources I need to make the car beautiful. Under the bonnet still needs a good clean but all in good time. Here are some photos of the cleaning of the car and the poor condition that its in, with plenty more pics of the extensive damage to follow when I have picked up my floor mats. All comments and advice welcome! https://plus.google.com/u/0/115351211136602645642/posts/iE6EKbTds4e?pid=6080247374642962050&oid=115351211136602645642 http://s1368.photobucket.com/user/Kacey_Baker/library/POLO%20Photos%201?sort=3&page=1

My First Car! Dark Green 6n2 Build Thread

Been on this site for a while now but never got round to making a thread! so here goes, I'm 17 from Berkshire and this is my first car that i bought back in august 2014! Polo 6n2 1.4 8v in dark green with 88,000 on the clock! bought it for £1,100 and personally i love this colour! so i had to snap it up! few scratches here and there so i used alot of t-cut to get rid of few minor scratches, here is how it looked when i first got it... at the time i was in full time education so only little mods were made, like the steering wheel sticker and GTI Grill After i couple of months i got a little part time job, and ended up spending every penny on the car hahaha so i went ahead and bought some fog lights (witch i actually pinched from the scappy) and ordered some fog light grills and fitted them then i bought some tinting film, made the fog lights yellow then bought a GTI Splitter! also did some other little touches such as a sharan rear badge, dewiper and orange indicators (i've taken off the orange now though) also gave the lights a little bit of a refurb because they were al yellow and horrible thats all for now! i've got some FK coilovers (probably gonna go 80mm-90mm down) and a roof rack that i still need to fit so i'll keep you all updated on that! but I'm on the lookout for a Stubby drivers side wing mirror and some wheels!

    Blue 6n2 1.0 First Car

Hi guys, Thought I should start a thread of my progress with my polo, its a 1.0 in Mercato blue with only 51,000 miles on the clock which I picked up for £1500 as my first car. Progress has been quite slow so far due to the lack of money as I'm only 17 at 6th form (worst decision of my life deciding to go there) but I've got plenty of big plans for the future which should keep me motivated. So, first thing I did after only having the car for a day was to de-badge it, small mod but pretty effective. I then bought a headlight restoration kit from halfrauds to try and tidy up the headlights and it worked a treat. Before: After: De-wipered: Had a right mission trying to get it off but after an hour it finally came loose. Got some pressed plates: While I was doing wiper off I decided to re route the wiper hose so it would point at pedestrians when i passed which is pretty funny http://s1054.photobucket.com/albums/s493/ryandanielphillips/20140421_185808_zps38f2cd4d.mp4.html I then got a sub off a mate for 50 quid and a chavy stereo from halfrauds I then decided to get a Sharan badge off of eBay, for just a fiver I couldn't resist. It makes quite a big difference to the rear end! I then colour coded the front, rear and side bump strips as they look crap black: think it looks so much better! I then found some old merc trims off ebay for £30 and had a go at tidying them up, well chuffed with the results! Thats it so far but was just wondering whether you think the plate looks better here: or here: Hope you like the progress so far! Ryan
