  1. I’ve had to replace the fuse responsible for the driver’s side side light and tail light twice in a week. I drive a 9n3. Any idea why this might might be happening? I can’t see any moisture that might be collecting inside the lighting housing. The only thing I can think of is, a few months back, I had a small shunt, enough to break the bracket holding the driver’s side headlight housing in place (I’ve since fabricated a new bracket to hold it all in place). But if that were the issue, why is only now starting to cause an problem? The dipped beam and full full beam work just fine. Any ideas what might be going on?
  2. Hi there I have a 13 year old 2005 VW Polo MK4 1.4 diesel 3 door. Just recently both front electric windows have stopped working intermittently. There is no clicking sound from either of the motors so that means there is no power being supplied to them and the windows are definitely not stuck because when they work they move with ease. There are no other electrical issues with the car, both electric mirrors work ant the central locking buttons on the driver door work with no problem and there are no issues with the wipers, dash lights, indicators, screen-wash pump. At first I thought it might be the 25 amp fuse but there is nothing wrong with it and just to prove it wasn't the fuse I replaced it and still nothing. One thing I can't wrap my head around is that both the window switches on the drivers door or the passenger door don't work yet the switches still light up when you turn the lights on which means the switches do have power to them. After seeing that the lights on the switches were working I tried the windows and still nothing. Would really appreciate it if someone knew more about this than I. Thanks for the help -Tom
  3. Hello my Mk2f keeps blowing its number 12 fuse and my inside light and radio won't work ??? What's going on people ??
  4. P0036 engine management light has come on, on polo 2012 6r model. Does anyone know where the fuse location is?. As read to check the fuse but can't find it.
  5. Hey guys. The rear wipers, the rear glass heater and the small front light on my 1987 mk2 polo are not working. The fuses are looking good. Is it a relay or what? Where do i find them? Does any one have a fuse digramm for the car? Thanks a lot:)
  6. Hi guys, Hoping to get membership soon and get my photos up of my 9N journey so far but in the meantime... I'm installing lights under my dash and want them to come on with the sidelights.. I have everything researched and ready to go but I am really struggling with connecting the final wire! These are the wires I have tried connecting to: Instrument Illumination Either Sidelight Headlight Switch Light The problem I have is that I've been cutting wires according to the Haynes manual and they haven't been the right ones so I've had to reattach them to where they previously were. Can anybody help me? Thanks, Rory!
  7. Hello All. We have an old type Polo Breadvan style which we find it very difficult to find parts for. The internal light that comes on when the door is opened or that can be switched on manually has stopped working. I initially replaced the small sausage shaped bulb as this seemed the most likely cause but no go. The small light clips out of the padded inside lining, and is attached to a small junction box, so we are unsure if it's an old/burnt out wiring issue, or a fuse somewhere. We are new to the Polo Club, but the car has been with us for 6 years... with a twice yearly servicing it's running fantastic...so we would like to get the light fixes. My instinct tells me it's most likely something easily fixed, but we don't have a manual or a Haynes etc to look to. Finding these cars in the scrap yards is like chasing unicorns....they must now be quite rare, so parts are always an issue. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated from any members. Big Thanks D and C See photographs Attachments_2015113.zip
  8. Car been running fine lately, even with all of the cold weather. However, just recently i've noticed that the EPC light has come and i'm not sure what it means. Looked in the manual and it says to take it to VW garage to get it checked. Any ideas? Did some research and a lot of people are saying its a faulty brake light switch, but as far as i know brakes are working fine. Thanks, Tom.
  9. I recently replaced my power steering pump because it stopped working (the warning light came on) but it turned out not to be the problem, instead it was fuse no. 7 that cause the problem. That fuse is not the main fuse for the power steering. Now this fuse blows every time it install a new one but I don't know the reason. Does anybody have the answer for me?
  10. Hi Guys, Yesterday I installed some LED interior lights above the back seats and in the interior mirrors of my 6r Polo, admittedly they were not a perfect fit and so I assume they were not the correct amp/ wattage... Anyway, they worked for about 5 minutes and then all the interior lights stopped working. I also later noticed that my rear lights were not working either (just the rear lights, not the break lights). My first thought is that I've blown a fuse or short circuited the lighting somehow... Any tips on how to fix this? Or is it just a take it to the garage matter? Cheers, Matt
  11. Hi all, For some Scouting work I do, it would be extremely useful to have a cigarette lighter socket in the boot (powered of course), that can be switched on and off from a button, next to the heated rear window switch (all the rest are blanks). This is on a 51 plate 6n2. So, any ideas on how to do this? I fetched the trim off around and below the steering wheel today, to reveal the fuse box, and although there's a few blank slots that (if an optional extra was fitted) would have a 15A fuse in (like the actual cigarette lighter), it doesn't seem to have the metal contacts inside the fuse slots to hold the fuse itself. Any help is massively appreciated guys, thanks!
