Hello. I have Polo 6n2 2001 year 1.4 AKP engine. I have a really sloppy gearshift. I'm looking for bushes repair kit, but there is none specifically for 6n2. Can i use a kit for some other model like golf 3? I see the gearbox linkage is similiar. Also any tips on replacing them?
Hi all, I've just purchased a mk4 polo ( 6n2 I think ) having never owned a Volkswagen I'm not what you'd consider hugely knowledgeable with common faults/issues. The first issue I've got is the gear linkage seems to be amazingly stiff both sideways and forwards/backwards motion and it sometimes doesn't really feel like it's fully in gear ( when it is ). It doesnt self Center either. Any thoughts and suggestions would be helpful in finding the problem. The second problem is that there's one hell of a whine coming from the camshaft pulley. It sounds like an over tight belt noise, as it's a supercharger style whine that increases and decreases with the speed of the engine. I don't have any history and the previous owner was car illiterate and couldn't tell me a whole lot about it so does not know when the timing belt/tensioners were done. Anybody else had this or shall I just go ahead and change the belt and tensioner?
Good afternoon all, After I finished work last night, I quickly realised that I was unable to put the car into 1st, 2nd or reverse gear. Luckily I managed to crawl home in 3rd & 4th. The clutch feels fine and the pedal box was replaced only a few months ago (I have checked this too and it's not cracked). I don't know anything about gearboxes or gear linkages. My Haynes manual doesn't give me much information about this either. Is this a common fault? Does anyone know how to fix this? Cheers Ben
