  1. Hi I am fixing my project breadvan and on one of the calipers a spring broke and I dont know what they are called, and I cant find any. Is it necessary? Can i buy it somewhere?
  2. I saw that some people were discussing their golf mk3 builds in here, as well as the polo 6n, and I was trying to figure out which parts I could afford to install on my own car. I've seen some people recommend to put the 1.3 Polo GT camshaft but they're stupid expensive here! so I'd like to ask you lovely people, what upgrades would you consider essential for this engine! sorry for the weird post writing, I'm new into this stuff so i don't have a lot of experience
  3. EDIT: I have a 2020 1.0 TSI 95 SE 5dr I've tried using Google and asking around, but have come up with nothing. I'm trying to source just the one as it's missing on the one side. The closest I've got is on this page: http://www.vwpolo.net/changing_the_bulbs_in_the_tail_light_cluster-413.html where it's referred to as a 'sash fastener', but I can't find anything when I Google that term. For reference, it's behind my rear lights on either side, there's a little flap/door that you can open to access the rear lights. The little plastic hook fits through a hole
  4. Hi all, I have an early mk2 bready, bought as a non running project, AFH conversion is so close to being finished!. Turns out previous owner fitted the larger tank which has caused handbrake issues. I have sourced a new 36l tank from heritage however I am REALLY struggling to find a fuel sender! I am assuming the sender in the larger tank would be invalid for the 36litre one. Does anyone know where I can get a new or secondhand fuel sender? Thank you!!

    Advice on electrics

Hi Sadly the time has come to sell my 1993 mk2f polo coupe CL. I know this is a technical forum, but I'd really like some advice on whether its worth sinking money into the car or not before selling. Mechanically the car is excellent, last service August 2020 with new pads and brakes fitted. Belt fitted March 2020. Mileage is 65,000 and has most service history. Bodywork excellent for age with only a few minor chips and few little bits of rust on sills. Car has below electrical issues: speakers need wired in cluster issue - dash lights and f
  6. Hi so I'm pretty new to this site but have bumped into a problem with my Polo and not sure where my next move is. So i bought some LED bulbs from Halfords for my number plate lights and after fitting them I turned my lights on to check them but they didn't work, so i decided to put my old ones back in but now the normal bulbs didn't work either. As i went to drive home i realised on my journey home that i also had no Dash illumination lights either and couldn't actually see how fast i was going. My first thought was a fuse problem so the next day i check the fuses and checked the u
  7. Following on from an insurance thread it seems that repairing my exhaust on my 07 VW Polo wont be covered by it as its been deemed wear and tear. Recently, the technique is failing, and you also need to deal with the exhaust for harley fatboy The garage has said something slumped at the front of the exhaust and that the entire length is corroded.... and that it was from wear and tear rather than the rear impact (that didnt cause much damage) so my take on it, is that must have been dislodged by the impact as it now sounds like Im trying to be a boy racer So assuming worst case scenar
  8. Hello everyone! I have found someone selling bike carbs and manifold for a 1.3 mk2 I was wondering if it would be comparable with my 1043 engine? They both don’t have the cooling pipe and it looks the same but I’m not that experienced so I wanted some other opinions! cheers Harry!
  9. Hi, I am new to this club polo and this is my first post so if I do anything wrong I apologise. I just bought my polo 9n2 about a month back and want to replace the comfort control module, however when I look under the driver side footwell the path to remove the ccm is obstructed by the clutch pedal system*, am I missing something really obvious, thanks in advance, Awilderz. *i have attached below a picture of what I saw the black box in the red circle being the ccm(I believe) and the blue part of the clutch obstructing the taking out of the ccm
  10. I’m on rebuilding a mk1 895cc polo engine (1978) as a project and the engine wiring harness did not come with it so if anyone could tell me the bare minimum of wires I’ll need to get it running that would be great, I also have a few boxes of parts and trim that I won’t need if anyone is interested in buying some just let me know, thanks
  11. Hi, unfortunately my bready has become an annoying illusive siv... I have had an oil leak fairly excessively for a couple months costing copious amounts on oil. I decided after looking and looking that although I had a suspicion of the leak being from either the rocker or head gaskets as had just changed them. So after fully dismantling and re assembling after a deep bay clean and an actual metal coloured engine had appeared I was able to see it was from the rocker cover gasket in the drivers side and closest to front of car corner of the gasket. The rocker cover sits level but doe
  12. I have a scrape on my front bumper and I'm wanting to remove it so that u can repair it myself during quarentine, all the bolts have come off fine, but the plastic fasteners underneath won't budge. I've been using some plastic pry tools but they just pop off, wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks for removing them they can share. I swear plastic clips are the strongest things known to man 😂
  13. Anyone replaced a 1.2 starter and any tips please
  14. Hi all! Hoping for a bit of advice, my breadvan keeps cutting out 5minutes or so into a drive, doesn't start again. The first time it happened I was just setting off from some lights and the engine just died, battery light was solid on the dash after it cut out and it wouldnt start again. I sat around for 2hrs waiting for recovery and I was getting no spark. After getting towed home, I came back to the car 4hrs later and it started first time and sounded absolutely horrible! Sounded like it was underwater. I didnt drive it, didnt start it more than 3 times and got the same underwater noise.
  15. Hi Everyone! Hope someone on here can help.... I've had this high pitch humming/whistling noise coming from my engine. It happens when I accelerate at a certain point usually heard in the first 3 gears. (noise still is heard when pressing the clutch in) it is also heavily noticeable after switching off the engine as seen in the video. I hope someone knows the issue, sometimes it's barely noticeable, sometimes louder and sometimes does happen at all, so I'm at a loose end with this one! Please see the following video of the noise : (Video has a few different clips, might need to
  16. Hey all . And anyone who can help . I have my Bby engine 1.4 16v Auto. She doesn't pull too well and I'm looking to try and get more out of her. So far I've rebuilt everything stock. Other than some tacky arch extensions and stickers I've done nothing to modify. Rather just rebuild. My question is what can be done to the BBY engine . Could I get more power out of this engine ? Or should I be looking into swapping for another engine if so would I have any luck with a golf gti engine and box. I know its probably a done and dusted subject and probably boring . But other than finding engine swaps
  17. Hi there, Running a polo 6n2 1.0 Y reg with only 60k miles. Recently noticed a whining noise in 5th and a bit of movement when going on and coming off the throttle. Pal advised me to change oil but haven't got round to it. However last night something went as I was on the motorway in 5th. Car still goes into every gear and drives fine but in 5th there is a crunching/grinding noise when driving. Excuse my lack of basic knowledge but can anyone tell me what might be wrong and what might need fixed? Cheers
  18. Hi all so I need to remove the dash in my polo. It has what appear to be radio key holes on either side. I’ve inserted the keys but can’t get the damned thing to budge. Are there some additional screws? Many thanks rich

    6n2 engine swap

hi guys just wondering if anyone knows how easy it is to swap from a 1litre to a 1.4 8v thanks
  21. Hi, I am in the middle of trying to carry out a few repairs to my 94 mk2f coupe. My old fuel tank needed to be replaced due to rust and corrosion and I have encountered a few problems while fitting the new tank. I saw a diagram on here before the same as the one attached but it had a list of what each number means, can somebody please link me to this/post this below? Thanks for your help, Vinny

    What does this do?

A few months ago my MK2 Polo, 1.3i, came to a stuttering halt. I was on the motorway and started to lose power, when I pulled off the motorway it gave up and stopped. My first thoughts were fuel problems, I had a quarter of a tank, so running out of fuel wasn't the problem. Maybe dirt in the tank or blocked fuel lines. Anyway, I called the breakdown service and the guy had a look around the engine and pushed a part back into place, something to do with a vacuum. Am shit with engines! The engine started first time after he did that. Last weekend I did a hours drive into Belgium and
