  1. Hello everyone! I have found someone selling bike carbs and manifold for a 1.3 mk2 I was wondering if it would be comparable with my 1043 engine? They both don’t have the cooling pipe and it looks the same but I’m not that experienced so I wanted some other opinions! cheers Harry!
  2. Hi, I am new to this club polo and this is my first post so if I do anything wrong I apologise. I just bought my polo 9n2 about a month back and want to replace the comfort control module, however when I look under the driver side footwell the path to remove the ccm is obstructed by the clutch pedal system*, am I missing something really obvious, thanks in advance, Awilderz. *i have attached below a picture of what I saw the black box in the red circle being the ccm(I believe) and the blue part of the clutch obstructing the taking out of the ccm
  3. I’m on rebuilding a mk1 895cc polo engine (1978) as a project and the engine wiring harness did not come with it so if anyone could tell me the bare minimum of wires I’ll need to get it running that would be great, I also have a few boxes of parts and trim that I won’t need if anyone is interested in buying some just let me know, thanks
  4. Hi, unfortunately my bready has become an annoying illusive siv... I have had an oil leak fairly excessively for a couple months costing copious amounts on oil. I decided after looking and looking that although I had a suspicion of the leak being from either the rocker or head gaskets as had just changed them. So after fully dismantling and re assembling after a deep bay clean and an actual metal coloured engine had appeared I was able to see it was from the rocker cover gasket in the drivers side and closest to front of car corner of the gasket. The rocker cover sits level but doe
  5. I have a scrape on my front bumper and I'm wanting to remove it so that u can repair it myself during quarentine, all the bolts have come off fine, but the plastic fasteners underneath won't budge. I've been using some plastic pry tools but they just pop off, wondering if anyone has any tips and tricks for removing them they can share. I swear plastic clips are the strongest things known to man 😂
  6. Anyone replaced a 1.2 starter and any tips please
  7. Hi all! Hoping for a bit of advice, my breadvan keeps cutting out 5minutes or so into a drive, doesn't start again. The first time it happened I was just setting off from some lights and the engine just died, battery light was solid on the dash after it cut out and it wouldnt start again. I sat around for 2hrs waiting for recovery and I was getting no spark. After getting towed home, I came back to the car 4hrs later and it started first time and sounded absolutely horrible! Sounded like it was underwater. I didnt drive it, didnt start it more than 3 times and got the same underwater noise.
  8. Hi Everyone! Hope someone on here can help.... I've had this high pitch humming/whistling noise coming from my engine. It happens when I accelerate at a certain point usually heard in the first 3 gears. (noise still is heard when pressing the clutch in) it is also heavily noticeable after switching off the engine as seen in the video. I hope someone knows the issue, sometimes it's barely noticeable, sometimes louder and sometimes does happen at all, so I'm at a loose end with this one! Please see the following video of the noise : (Video has a few different clips, might need to
  9. Hey all . And anyone who can help . I have my Bby engine 1.4 16v Auto. She doesn't pull too well and I'm looking to try and get more out of her. So far I've rebuilt everything stock. Other than some tacky arch extensions and stickers I've done nothing to modify. Rather just rebuild. My question is what can be done to the BBY engine . Could I get more power out of this engine ? Or should I be looking into swapping for another engine if so would I have any luck with a golf gti engine and box. I know its probably a done and dusted subject and probably boring . But other than finding engine swaps
  10. Hi there, Running a polo 6n2 1.0 Y reg with only 60k miles. Recently noticed a whining noise in 5th and a bit of movement when going on and coming off the throttle. Pal advised me to change oil but haven't got round to it. However last night something went as I was on the motorway in 5th. Car still goes into every gear and drives fine but in 5th there is a crunching/grinding noise when driving. Excuse my lack of basic knowledge but can anyone tell me what might be wrong and what might need fixed? Cheers
  11. Hi all so I need to remove the dash in my polo. It has what appear to be radio key holes on either side. I’ve inserted the keys but can’t get the damned thing to budge. Are there some additional screws? Many thanks rich

  14. Hi, I am in the middle of trying to carry out a few repairs to my 94 mk2f coupe. My old fuel tank needed to be replaced due to rust and corrosion and I have encountered a few problems while fitting the new tank. I saw a diagram on here before the same as the one attached but it had a list of what each number means, can somebody please link me to this/post this below? Thanks for your help, Vinny

    What does this do?

A few months ago my MK2 Polo, 1.3i, came to a stuttering halt. I was on the motorway and started to lose power, when I pulled off the motorway it gave up and stopped. My first thoughts were fuel problems, I had a quarter of a tank, so running out of fuel wasn't the problem. Maybe dirt in the tank or blocked fuel lines. Anyway, I called the breakdown service and the guy had a look around the engine and pushed a part back into place, something to do with a vacuum. Am shit with engines! The engine started first time after he did that. Last weekend I did a hours drive into Belgium and

As I've tried using them for the central locking but nothing works. I also changed the batterys in them both and still nothing?
  19. Hi all i have a y plate 6n2 polo 1.4 8v Had it for a number of years and well looked after. i was out on work visits when I got back in the car to go home and it wouldn’t start. It wasn’t getting close to starting. RAC came out and jump started it and all was well. Initially he diagnosed that the battery was in poor condition, it’s a Bosch battery that I put on at Christmas time when we had the cold spell. It’s not given a hint of any problem. We turned car off and got back in to start and nothing, jumped it again and then get diag

    Seeking my old Mk2f

Hi guys and girls I'm hoping someone can help me. I sold my Mk2f polo back in late 2016/ early 2017. It was FOX coupe in blue that was originally 1.0 but I converted it to a 1.3 GT engine with some mods, Piper Cam, Bigger intake and a few other mods. I'm sure the guy who bought it off me was from eBay by the name of George. I'd love to have that car back as it was one of the nicest I have driven. If anyone has any information or can point me in the right direction I would be very greatful, Maybe even some pint money! If you could ask around any groups or friends that break polo's etc
  22. Hi there, New to this forum, looking for a little help. I just got a 91' Polo GT and the seats are worse for wear, wanted to change them out maybe put some leathers. Ive read on loads of forums that corrado seats will fit in the front, easy swap. Ive also read that mk4 golf seats can swap into a corrado, easy swap. Does that mean I can slap mk4 golf leather seats in my 86 polo? (I understand that it will sit higher than normal) Please advise
  23. Hi, apologies if this is the wrong section of the forum (im new to posting here, long time lurker) i have a polo 9n 1.2 3 cylinder, i have heard that it is possible to swap the throttle bodies from that of a mk4 golf, is there a specific engine size from the golf that i need to get it from or will they all fit, i dont know if the golfs use a universal size or they change with engine size which i assume, any help will be appreciated. also i have had trouble of finding exhaust systems that will fit the car, i have a quote of 150 to get a custom backbox made by hand, however
  24. Hi everyone, if anyone could help me diagnose my problem that would be amazing! I'm sure its down to something electrical? I have recently got back hold of the car (off road since'15) I had her firing a few times but running naff (always near enough flooding) so since these things I have changed; spark plugs, battery, replaced 1 HT lead (misfire), dizzy cap, oil sensor, blue and black coolant temp sensors, full service (oil, air & fuel) and also added and exhaust system. I have also added a gasket to the throttle body which was missing and fixed the one which sits between this and the car
  25. Hi, I recently changed my oil pressure switch originally it was flashing with the ignition on (car wouldn’t start at this point), so now with the new switch - no flashing on ignition. However now it runs to some extent the oil light is flashing when the engines running, I did just change the oil filter today so was wondering if this could be something to do with it or how could I stop it? Cheap sensor? Thanks!
