  1. Hi everyone, I wonder if you can help. I've read a couple of other threads with a similar described problem but not much in the way of a resolution so here goes! Both headlights have simultaneously stopped coming on when the switch is turned on. The sides and full beam still work fine though. For a short while, the headlights would come on if I repeatedly turned the switch on and off. The bulbs are both intact, as are the fuses and the connectors on the bulbs do not appear to be corroded. From my research, it sounds like the problem could be due to faulty ballast? Could this be the case given that both headlights packed up at the same time? If this is the case, is the only place to get a functional part from other Polo 6N2's? I am very much an amateur mechanic (this is still my first car!) but I am always willing to learn and have a go. Cheers, Andrew
  2. Has anyone installed these aftermarket lights, and what were the results? The ones I've found are definitely RHD, but I am wondering whether these will be OK to get through MOT and will meet UK standards. Any help appreciated & thanks in advance! (link to ebay listing in case it helps with your advice giving: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361398756268?euid=dd409164828141e889c0f9a331d86a4a&bu=44235120852&cp=1&sojTags=bu=bu)
  3. Polo 6N -98 1,6 AEE Hello! I'm having a problem where I have no Idle until my car is on normal temp but it only works for about 15 seconds from time to time then the engine stalls, and also my car wont start if i'm not pushing down the throttle pedal. This all happened after an electrical failure in my left hand side aftermarket headlight with crappy connectors. When i turned on the ignition all the lightning in my left hand side headlight was emitting light but very dim or low (low beam, high beam, parking light & angeleyes) so instead of turning it of i started to switch between different lighting setups (like low beam, parking lights only etc.) and on parking lights only it worked perfectly but as i switched to fullbeam my auxillary lamps wouldn't turn off, so i guess there was a short curcuit somewhere... however, as I tried to turn the engine on it just wouldn't start. The starter motor rotates, the engine rotates but it does sound like it's fairl easy to pull around and sometimes it sounds like it wants to starts so badly, like one or two cylinder/s actually ignites. VagCom returns me an error code for Idle motor/regulator so i replaced the throttlebody to a used one just now and I still have the same problem. I did however loosen the hose for the canister purge solenoid valve and then it started and idled normally but I don't think that's the problem. When you start it with the throttle pedal down and keep it at about 1000 rpm you can actually feel a vibration coming from the throttle body itself. Could actually feel it when i reved it by hand from the engine bay too. It comes from the butterfly/throttle When you turn the key to "ON" the throttlebody emitts a dim beeping noise for about 4 seconds and the butterfly makes a clicking noise both at the start and the end of the beeping sequence. The question is... Is there something else than the throttle body that controlls the engine idle? Have I completely toasted the ECU? PS. I did also have an error code on the Oxygen sensor and MAP-Sensor saying singal Intermittent but they did not return as the Idle one did after deletion.
  4. So i have asked on a place on the famous facebook and in the end after they couldnt help they directed me here.I am looking for U.S spec headlights/side lights/rear lights kits for a 6N...Is there such kits because i am having issues tracking them down.If you do have pictures please share and direct me to where i can get some of my own thank you
  5. I have a '96 6N Now my dimister switch for the rear window and heated mirrors does not illuminate like the rest of the switches etc. Can any one with a 6N can confirm that this switch is illuminated or not? I'm not sure If the bulb is blown or it was never illuminated in a first place. PS Amber light when on is working. Now second thing is, are my heater controls, they most of the time do not illuminate when headlights are on. I have to give them a persuasive nudge, only then thy come on. So the bulb is working, what would be causing this? Cheers
  6. Hey guys, can someone give me the name/code of, or like me to the bulb that illuminates the heater controls on the centre console? mines blown and i can't seem to find it as i don't know what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance!

    Rear Lighting

Hi I recently had some rust develop on one of my rear light bulb holders, which has wrecked the reverse bulbs connectors. I was looking at getting a replacement holder but noticed I might want to change the styling of the actual rear lamps. Is this possible? I have a 2002 MK4 Polo. Would the lamps with the circles as below fit the originals underneath? Thanks in advance!
  8. Hi guys, Been looking around the internet for god knows how long looking for some angel eyes. Can openly admit I'm a newbie when it comes to looking for them.Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of what I'm looking for? I know that i need RHD's which is obvious, but I've been told that certain styles like FK powerlooks are LHD only? Bit of a ball ache cos I really like them. I've also been told to look on German Ebay for them too but i can't find anywhere if they're RHD or LHD. So i just presume they're LHD, being Europe and then I'm back to square one. All the ones on English Ebay look a bit toss too, and really expensive in comparison to German Ebay... Any help is really appreciated!
