  1. Lock the car with the keyed central locking, (as opposed to remote) and after a short period, the drivers window lowers. If the door is left unlocked, it stays up. Any suggestions?
  2. The boot lock on my 6n (central locking removed) has stopped working properly. I can now only unlock the door by turning the key slightly to the right then back again and pulling it out. Previously I would turn halfway to the left and that was it’s normal unlocked state. Can get by like this but obviously not ideal and it doesn’t feel particularly good. Anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix? Thanks
  3. Why is nothing on these vw cars straight forward? Everything has to be overly designed. Of coarse except for the rubbish lock designs -_- i just guess vw dont want enthusiastics to work on their own cars and take it into vw... I've read guides on how to remove the handle. Undo the torx screw and then apparently they magically come out. Well this car has central locking and theres a gold plate going between a slot at the back of the lock mechanism. Its connected to what looks like a central locking pump... I cant figure out how to make the little gold plate piss out out the way so i can remove the handle. Looking at it it has to go down somehow.. Ive stripped the interior door off to try prod around and had no joy. Please someone help. HELP.
  4. Hello everyone, I bought a 2000 VW Polo 6N2 last October as a car to use during the winter so I didn't have to use the motorbike. When I bought it there was no lock cylinder in the driver's side door, so I've never been able to lock it. Now i'm thinking about selling it and would like to sort the locks out. This is where it gets confusing. I bought a pair of cylinders c/w keys, paddles and springs thinking that would sort it (1st image). I also bought a lock repair kit just in case any bits were missing (2nd image). I then took the passenger's side door handle off to check whether the lock cylinder was the same as the one I had bought. It turns out they are different (3rd image). Were there 2 types of locks fitted to these cars or am I missing something here? I can find loads of repair kits on eBay etc. to repair the type of lock that I have but I can't find the lock cylinder itself anywhere. I don't think the hook type shown in the 1st image will fit as there are lugs missing and the part where the key goes in appears to be smaller in diameter. I don't want to spend a fortune as the car isn't worth a huge amount but I'd like to get it sorted for the next owner if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Mark
  5. hello i have a GTI 6n2 3 door and central locking pump in boot and both front door lock barrels are broken. Central locking pump circuit has burned inside. so no locking / unlocking available via key either due to broken barrels. Wanted to know if a cheaper aftermarket remote locking kit will still work independant of standard pump in the boot or does the actual pump has to be in working condition for the aftermarket kit to work. Secondly I have bought a kit and connected everything with the wires in the boot to the pump and aftermarket kit is operating fine but does not lock or unlock via remote. Just wondered if the pump must be in working condition for the remote to lock / unlock. Thanks.
  6. Hello all, New member here. Happy to have found this forum, with so many interesting topics! Before I visit the repair shop and pay 110 euro for a new lock motor installation, I would like to share my problem here, in case there is anything that can be saved. here goes: i) When I use the key from the driver's side, all doors lock and unlock fine. Nothing to see here. ii) When I use the key from the passenger side, all doors lock fine, however unlocking does not do it for the driver door (90% fail rate). All other doors unlock fine. iii) When inside the car and using the lock/unlock switch, doors will lock fine, but again will unlock all except the driver's door (same fail ratio) iv) When using my chinese ebay remote fob installed 6 years ago (should have gone for the OEM solution, I know), again doors will lock fine, but unlocking opens all except driver's door again. So to sum up, locking always works for all doors. Unlocking works for all doors except the driver's. Unless I put the key in the driver's lock, which then works fine. Questions: 1) Is it 100% needed to change the expensive entire locking motor to fix the problem? Or could something be blocking the mechanism? Something that could be "refreshed" or cleaned up and work somehow? 2) Could my cheap chinese remote lock kit have caused the degradation of the lock motor mechanism? Will I see a difference if I temporarily remove it from the car? Thanks a lot in advance, Alex
