    1.8T AUM conversion

    Yes the age old question of swapping a 1.8t into a polo but not any polo a mk2f polo. What im after is some advice about keeping the original clocks in the polo but running a 1.8t but I’m struggling to work out what I can do for a loom to get it all working correctly, ideally I need the obd port for possible remapping in the future and if the engines running rough. I’ve got both cars next to each other so it should make life easier but I doubt that 😂 It it will probably be easier if I bullet point my answers any advise is welcome Can I run 1.8T (AUM) on it’s own with out the immobiliser? Can I have it push butting start with out needing the key and clocks? Can I use the existing ECU? What driveshafts should I use? What brake setups are best for this? Would it be easier if I got a new pedal box because the AUM is DBW ? Thank you in advance Harley

    Loom testing

    Posted this in my.other thread but may be better on its own Replaced: • starter • alternator • battery • dizzy • coil • ht leads • earths • spark plugs Checked the loom again and found different reading to before. Checked the dizzy plug and could find a few pins on the ecu that fired off but only 1 with a propper reading but that was .03 and dropped to .00 most other pins was just a 1 which is defualt Also checked the fuel rail plug and that too had readings for 1 pin coming through multiple ecu pins Bad loom?
  3. Whats the best way to make head lights brighter on my mk2f, Iv heard of a loom upgrade and some better bulbs and someone said just a HID kit will do, so what do people recommend.

    AFH loom

    So hopefully in the near-ish future I want to convert my coupe 1.3 to afh 1.4 16v and i just want to fuel it with injection but I'm not sure about the wiring iv heard of a complicated way of splicing the looms with both the fuse boxs or something along those lines and iv also heard that you can make a loom using both engine looms with minimal wires just wondering if anyone can shed some light on which is the best way to do it and I really don't want to run it on bike carbs.
  5. Just got a 6n2 and the driver side electrics dont work. Ive looked at the wiring between the driver side door and the body if the car to find a broken brown wire thats previously been repaired and failed... Whats the best way to properly repair this? Also when i touch the wires the electric mirrors and locks work, passenger window also works but drivers window still wont work. I dunno how to fond out if its the switch or the motor. The motor makes a click noise when i push the button in one direction but does nothing
  6. Hi All, I am just wondering if somone can help me please as in a bit of a panic! I have a mk2 polo ranger from 1990 pre facelift, for the past few years its had a tempermental issue with the power feed (I beleive its the live cable from the ignition feed) to the speedo unit as intermittently loose power to the instrument cluster and gauges every now and then it will flicker and mess about, I have pressed all the crimps down in the loom plug to try and make contact to the many cables and its been ok ish for a year but now it will just not work at all now. I am in a bit of a panic as I have mot coming up at end of May! I do still have a working clock, full beam indicator on the cluster but I have lost temp,fuel gauges, handbrake light, oil & indicator lamp. I dont know if there is a supplier of loom plugs or some place I could get one? I have had a look on ebay with no such luck or even if there is something like it that will fit ok? The origional vw part number is: 321971998 Or is there a work around maybe I am open to ideas I dont care what has to be done as long as its working again to be honest. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Kindest Regards, Lewis

I'm currently in the middle of swapping my knackered 1.1 engine for a 1.3, firstly I don't care what engine is better and which gives you more power gains, so don't bother posting if you've got nothing worth saying. The problem I have is that the new engine which is a 1.3 from a 1988 Mk2 Golf has a distributor hall sensor on, whereas the polo's does not. I was wondering how I go about wiring it up, do I need anything else such as an ignition control unit? Also does anyone know what engine code this engine might be? I've had it stripped down and cleaned for painting and I still can't find the code anywhere, I've been told that It might be under the distributor but all I can see is a 2 and another very worn down letter/number that can't be read anymore. Thanks in advance :)
  8. Hi all. I have a 1997 6n 16v and it refuses to start. I have found that the wiring to the coil pack has burnt out and blown the plug that connect to the coil pack. On further inspection of the loom and wiring the alarm fitted in the car was a nightmare. the person who installed must not have been from Clifford as the wiring was all dodged and taped up with loose wires hanging everywhere. Wires all of a sudden changed colour. I.e. from black/white to brown and so on. Grrr. I'm suprised it didn't set the car on fire it was that bad. Anyway the alarms out and most of the wiring is back to normal and is now turning over but not starting. Due to the burnt out wire. Also will be needing ignition system due to the bad wiring. Questions 1) will I need to replace the whole loom to replace the coil pack wiring or is it separate? 2) will i need the loom from the same year car or can I use a later loom from a 1999 16vAs I have found a loom on here that might do the job 3) will I need to take the whole dash out to remove the loom and will I need a wiring diagram or is all plug and play? Thanks in advance and any help is appreciated I will be doing the work myself so any heads up on potential problem I may encounter or any other ideas? Links to any guides and diagrams? Can't seem to find any for the 6n

    double din wiring

    Hi, i drive a 2000 6n2! I don't know the first thing when it comes to wiring etc... i just bought a pioneer SPH-DA100 double din radio! i plugged it in, and nothing...? is this a case of needing a different wiring loom or?... all help is appreciated, thanks! -Charlie http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/archive/SPH-DA100/page.html
