Installed H&R cup kit on my breadvan over the weekend however over bumps, even quite small ones, the coils are hitting each other causing an annoying metalllic clang and also wearing off the powder coating. Has anyone else experienced this issue or have any ideas why this may be the case. Will be contacting h&r on Wednesday as I am out tomorrow and will be unable to call.
  3. I'm after some advice on lowering springs for a 6r 1.2 TSi. I want to drop it 35mm front and 55mm rear and on 17s, is anyone running around this set up?! What Springs would you recommend and can you show pictures of the ride height?! Thank you in advance! PFA

    '98 Polo 6n 1.0 L Full Respray

    Hello, thought I'd share with Club Polo, me and my dads project of respraying my first car, a 1998 Polo 6N 1.0L. Short story of how it ended up in my ownership... It's one owner from new, an old bloke bought it brand new back in November 98, and ran it till he gave up driving a couple of years ago, and it was salvaged by my dad, as I was basically about to turn 17, I asked him if I could have it, it was either a Polo or 1999 fiesta, I chose the polo because its interior was clean as whistle, basically brand new because of the seat covers. The outside however... it was parked up under a tree for over a year, so there was a serious amount of green which came off the car when it was steam cleaned. I passed my test at the end of January and off I was in my little red polo! 2 months later... I'm pretty sick of the bodywork on the car now, the lacquer was already coming off everywhere, and its just an eye-saw. Dad told me to get prepping the outside, so i roughly sanded most of the car off in a day. drove it around for a bit with the 'rat look'. Now though is where the final preparations are taking place for it to be painted... I say final preparations, turns out the car is obliterated with tiny little dents everywhere as we sand it down, these all have to be filled up of course because my dads a perfectionist and clearly doesn't want to spoil his reputation when I'm a driving around example of his work (he prepares and resprays cars for a living by the way). The original colour of the car is (i believe) 'Flash Red', we're painting it in Alfa Romeo Rosso red, because he has loads left over from painting a Alfa Sprint Veloce. I reckon this will make it look pretty sharp. Today... I fitted FK Automotive Coilovers all round, bought them from a nice bloke called Matt in Lee-on-Solent, also bought some Golf Mk2 GTI 14" Steels from him, tried those out on the car and they look awesome with the car lowered too. That's about as far as we've got at the moment. Will update and include pictures ASAP. Thanks for reading : )

Right, so I've given myself a project for this spring, and it's to fully rebuild/restore my polo 6N and reveal it on May 24th at Unphased15, I know this is an incredibly close deadline, but I'm determined and will try my best! To do: Pre rebuild; Fully strip car to rolling shell (Inside & out) Engine bay; Clean/grind engine bay Panel up, cut and weld engine bay - IN PROGRESS Fibreglass/filler engine bay Primer engine bay Spray engine bay (White) Extend & hide wiring loom inside chassis legs Body; Weld/fill side repeaters (wings) Weld/fill aerial hole Weld/smooth wings into sills Install 6N2 boot Install MK5 Golf boot badge/handle Smooth left & right grilles on 16v front bumper Smooth numberplate recess on 16v Front bumper Prep body for spray Spray body Interior; (If I have time) Dye/replace carpet (Black) Custom made 6N white leather & carbon fibre dashboard Custom made Carbon fiber trim (Including entire center console) Custom upholstered white full leather Audi A4 B5 seats (Modified runners super low stance) Custom white leather & carbon fiber door cards Re-upholstered roof liner (VW logos) Rear seats removed Deck & carpet out boot and rear seat area Build/install sub, speaker and amp enclosures Build double battery enclosure in spare wheel well Audio/wiring; Run power wires from engine bay to boot for batteries (Through chassis legs) Install sub, speakers & Amps Running Gear; Remove subframe & Suspension (Pre engine bay prep/spray) Re-Install subframe & Suspension (Post engine bay prep/spray) Install rear disk conversion kit Install coilovers (Loooooow) Install camber shims (1.5 degrees) Re-install engine/gearbox/master cylinder Install vr6 radiator with in-line filler. Relocate washer bottle to boot Optional; Install smoke screen (Just for a laugh) So there we go, I'll post photos and cross out what I've done. ;) See you guys in May ;)
  7. just seeing if anyone can shed some light on this. I've found a set of 13"x8j banded steels for sale and was just wondering if anyone knew what sort of tolerence I'd have in regards to lowering it aswell. Only wanna put it down 40mm but obviously don't want any rubbing issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hey, I've been meaning to sign up to here for a while now, I just wanted my 6R in better shape before posting anything! Here she is when i got her (on the left): And here she is now, 100mm Lower on FK AK Street Coilovers, Full light upgrade, Debadged boot lid, Induction kit with new grill (one with actual holes in it) and new pipes and a bluetooth upgrade: I also have just got my Audi Pepperpots back from being Refurbished so these are getting tyres and going on the car today. Let me know what you think, and anywhere that could be improved!! Toby

    Josh's 6N - First Car

    Hi everyone! My name's Josh, I'm 18 and this is my first car. I bought it a few weeks ago for £1800 after passing my test. At the minute it is completely standard (not for long) with 37,000 miles and is driving perfect. Future Plans: Lower - I don't want to slam it, just fill the gap between the wheel and the arch. What would you guys recommend coilovers or springs? Wheels - hopefully some g60s, anyone got any other suggestions? Remove the rear Polo and Match Badges That's about it for mods as I want to keep it simple and I'm on a budget but if you have any other ideas let me know :)
  10. Hi all, I've just bought my first car- a Mk2 Polo Coupe S 1.3 from 1990. Before the face-lift to the mk2f. I've got some engine upgrade plans in my mind, but I want to get it looking sweet first. So, I need some help. My mechanical knowledge/ability, although not non-existent, is relatively limited. So i thought the easiest and safest way to do this, would be to ask, heres the deal: I want to lower the car a bit, not all that much, just enough that it handles and drives better, and looks better. I don't want it scraping on speed bumps though. What do I need? Who do I need? What cost am I looking at? I'd rather spend more and get a proper job, then spend the bare minimum and have it shitty. like I said, its not just for looks, I want it to handle better round corners and feel smoother when cruising at higher speeds.   11. Looking to get some coil overs soon, did have a look at lowering springs but a friend of mine told me there was no point. Got a budget of £200. Anyone got any advice on what's best in the price bracket and what to avoid? Cheers Sam I'm looking at these

    Going lower

    I've got a 9n polo on jom coilovers which drop about 80mm when fully wound down, however i want to go lower, any ideas how? Or is it just a case of cut the bump stops and remove adjusters on the rear?

    6n2 1.4 SE

    So I picked up at silver 6n2 for £1500 with only 53,000miles on the clock in September. Passed my test in November and gradually started to add things to the project. So far: lowered it 60/40 on low springs (cheap but decent) Gti grill Gti splitter Upgraded sound system 15 inch wolfrace alloys 195/45 (not the best) Started of like this: Had some 16" tsw evos on for abit: Lowered 60/40: 15s and gti splitter: What's next? Let us know what you lot think!

Basically its higher on the right as seen in picture To be honest I dont know how coilovers work properly but I basically wound the bottom ring up and span the bottom camber bit up so its a 100mm drop (I'll try and explain with pictures) but some reason its a different height on the side, so i started turning the top ring up(Green bit on picture;which i have not touched before cus i just used the bottom bit) but it didnt make it any lower,(the yellow arrow showing where it was) i know i haven't explained very well but i dont really know what I'm on about, i've watched loads of videos but the coilovers are always different to mine, anyone help please!!

Right, santa will be bringing me some coilovers but need to let him know which ones Basically I want something cheap but not second hand, so I went on Ebay and found some new for £156.00 so i'm happy paying that the brand is 'TUNINGART' I know nothing about coilover brands so if someone could tell me if these are alright? theirs a few different brands on there so if someone could tell me the best without costing more would be great. its for a 6n Also I need to know ASAP for santa to make of course. There is a brand called 'TA Technix' too?

  17. Was just wondering a few things, how come these coilovers i'm thinking of getting can be lowered more at the front than the back? Also is there anything else I need to know about fitting coilovers ect? I've changed the standard suspension on a 6N before and its pretty straight forward, is it thee same for coilovers? Just confused why the back can be lowered less? Would of thought the front would be less if anything?
