  1. Looking at H&R Cup Kit (35mm all round) Anyone got pics of them on a Mk2?
  2. Hi all, I’ve noticed my 97 6n is handling really poorly on the motorway, seems to be bouncing all over the place, steering really vaguely and blowing around more than it used to and just being a pita to drive. Im on original shocks with 40mm lowering springs so the shocks are probably pretty dead, however My control arm bushes seem pretty bad too but what I want to know is what I should replace first on a limited budget to see the biggest improvement in handling? I’ll sort the rest come mot when I’ve got some cash. cheers!
  3. What’s the best suspension for a 6N2 GTi? Currently it is sat on some coil overs (not sure who’s poss FK as yellow springs..) however the ride is crap. Hard and just crashes and bangs everywhere... whats the best fast road set up? Doesn’t have to be stupidly low but must ride well over country roads at 40-60mph, this is a proper car that’s used not a town crawling show queen... I have seen a set of Spax ones on eBay etc but would like a few views on different options before spending £400+ on all new stuff. ta

    Polo breadvan build thread

Hi there thought I start a build thread from a year ago from when I bought the car. I was 16 what I bought it as a car to learn how to do things on as I had use of a ramp at a local garage as I was a Saturday boy there. I bought it for 200£ with a months on it! I then got a mate at work to list everything that would need doing and there was a fair bit but I took it on. I needed to do starter motor as it was broken and wired up dodgy and a track rod end and new suspension all round which I went for a 60/40 ta technix lowering kit after that a mate done welding to inner and outer both sills which a wasn’t too expensive and was much appreciated as then after a few bulbs and a couple of tyres it passed the mot This picture was taken a few weeks after it passed at dubs at the park and I found pictures of some of the rust and me spraying it after my mate had done the welding

    Lowering Help!

Hello! I have an 83 Breadvan and looking for the best solution to subtly lowering it. It has 14" immitation g60 wheels and I am pretty sure that any lowing on the rear is going to scrape the arch - centre of tyre sticks slightly further out than the arch. If the front it just lowered (by around 40mm on springs) will it look too top heavy? Does anyone have any other solution or experienced this? Any help welcome and appreciated! Thanks!
  7. Hello Iv had some springs made to lower my 1985 polo saloon 100mm ish but it’s still not low enough at the front. Would lowering top caps from the 6n fit my car??
  8. Hi guys, ive just fitted my new set of coilovers! I replaced my old ones are they was completely siezed. so I’ve got them all fitted and ready to go! I’ve come to adjust the coilovers now to lower the car back to how it was! I’ve dropped it down and the spring has stayed slack As if the shock isn’t allowing the spring to go any lower! What am I missing here! Cheers guys Ryan
  9. Hey guys, I've got a 6N2 currently sitting on original shocks with 40mm lowering springs atm. Problem is... its not low enough. And it drives like shit. The shocks bottom out on the smallest of speed bumps and then proceed to turn the car into a bouncy castle. I've been weighing up my options of going coilovers or a full suspension kit and have decided that coilovers are too much like hard work from the side of maintenance and setup. Also don't want to have to spend 400 quid on some coilies that i will have to worry about. I like the idea of being able to manually adjust my ride height but Englands that full of potholes that i doubt i could go that low anyway. So lowering kit it is. Im not part of stance nation 🤣 Im running on 15 x 7.5j D/W G705s with 195/50/15s by memory. Look great until you realise you could fit a head inside the arch 😅. So basically I'm wondering if anyone on here is running similar setups but with a lowering kit such as the AP 60/30 kit on venom motorsport. I saw the Eibach sportlines on a 6N2 GTI that looked good but that was on 16s (see attached)... and an inch can make a big difference 😜. I want similar fitment to the image below but with my 15s. Modified but manageable. And hopefully more comfortable than linear springs. Cheers
  10. Good morning people looking to get some coil overs for my car are there any difference between 6n2 n 6n ?
  11. Hi guys, new here so first off, hi! I've recently bought a 6n and as much as I love it, I feel like it really needs to be lowered. I read the advice in the 'Rough Guide' on here but can't afford to go with anything more than lowering springs. Basically I am wondering firstly are they actually fine to drive on or will I feel a negative change in handling? Second, how low can I go on just lowering springs/what is advisable? I don't really want to slam it as I have to drive over some pretty mean speed bumps every day! any pictures to give a rough example of how polo's look at any given height would also be much appreciated. Thanks in advance :)
  12. Hi all Been thinking about lowering my GTi a bit and would rather replace the springs and dampers together than fit only springs. From something I read on eBay Golf MK5 (2008 onwards) coilovers will fit. Does anyone know if this is genuine?
  13. Hi I've just brought a 6n2 it's my first German car so I'm a newbie to them, just wondering if I need to do any work to it before lowering or can I just drop it on it's arse with no problems? Tia
  14. Not used this ap kit before but in the passed with phil-j kit I did the 2p trick. Question is do I need to do the same with the ap kit.?
  15. Hi guys, first time posting. I want to but some lowering springs/shocks for my dad's 92 polo but i'm not getting anywhere very quickly. It's not a car that's used everyday and he dosen't want too much low. I've seen a kit on amazon that says it's for a polo 86c 1975/1994 so in theory that's right, but on the photo the front shocks don't look tight, shouldn't they have the bearing housing and all the bottom half of the shock? https://www.amazon.fr/suspension-amortisseur-ressorts-40mm-Derby/dp/B00EDPC2XG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1496596788&sr=8-3&keywords=polo+86c (sorry it's in french but i live in france) It might just be me being stupid but i don't want to get him his birthday present only for it to be wrong, so any help/advice would be incredibly helpful. Thank you
  16. I'm about to lower my 9n for the first time, I think i'm going to go with fk's because i've heard they're probably the best ones, what would be a sensible attractive height that wont completely break my back? They go up to 100mm on the front and 75mm on the back and i'm wondering if anyone out there can give me a good preference height that looks good and doesn't mess your ride up too bad. Thanks.
