  2. Hi all, Next up on my list of MOT failures are the front anti-roll bar bushes. The ones on my motor seem to be different from the standard mk2f ones (see pic) Does anyone know where I can source some? Cheers as always, Tim
  3. Hi All I have a 1994 VW Polo Mk2 Facelift Genesis with 45400 miles on the clock available. The car has 2 owners from new and was last owned by my next-door neighbour’s dad who passed away a couple of years ago. The intention was to give the car a quick go over and back on the road, but I started doing this, and then that, then circumstances changed and now the car is up for breaking or someone who wants a job lot. I need the space back and willing to give it a couple of months but then Mr scrap man will have a treat. I will get some pictures up over the next week. Interior is in near perfect condition, abit dust and the dash has a mark where some sticky tape was but apart from that, not torn or worn front or back. Engine has done 45400 miles, I drove it into my drive from next door, sounded ok, with a blown exhaust, looks like it could do with a new dizzy cap and rotor along with a rubber rocker seal. 5 speed gearbox all gears working and smooth. Basically, all parts are up for grabs; panels, glass, looms, seals, trims, lights...... All items are ‘make me an offer’. I am located between Basingstoke and Fleet. Bad parts I am thinking the spings/shocks are original so will be no good, they are not leaking but prob not worth it. If anyone is interested in the shell; Front slam panel has had minor bump and where the fuel filler neck rusted out it got abit of the sill and arch which I have started to fix, one sides basically done. Passenger rear arch needs attention. Ok/Pretty good parts New drivers wing has been fitted and sealed already but can come off. Passenger wing, it had a minor dent on delivery which is easy to fix. Bonnet was perfect before I started to rub it down so will need finishing off and a spray. Bumpers are not cracked but the brackets might need attention for a 100% as new fit. I have refurbished the doors as the bottoms had the usual minor rust, they basically need a rubdown and spraying. Interior is all good from carpet to sunroof. Brand new parts – all prices are ‘make me an offer’, we all know/can lookup the new price and willing to take a second-hand to almost giveaway if buying multiple items. Front disc / pad brakes, pagid Fuel tank Clear front indicators Rear brake drum cylinders + brake shoes Tie rods x2, brand new, fitted only used to roll the car in and out 3 or 4 times. Both steering arms ARB rubbers, front OEM
  4. Hi all, My G has failed on a whole load of things this year. One of these is the steering. Garage thinks it's best to locate another in a scrappie. Are the columns the same in all mk2/mk2fs? Are they fairly simple to whip out? Thanks for your help guys.
  5. Had a look through old posts and found a fair few postitive comments about fitting a lower 'Ged-style' strut brace between the ARB mounts, e.g., one from PPP: http://www.poloperformanceparts.co.uk/shop.php?cat=2 Thing is, it seems to me that most people who modify their suspension like this have already gone down the road of lowering / stiffer shocks / stiff bushes etc. I've kept my bready OEM style and would like to keep it that way as much as possible - is a front strut brace going to be as excellent a mod as it appears to be? I understand the reasoning and physics behind it but the main reason I'd like one is how my bready has been handling since i replaced all the front bushes - it feels so much stiffer! It used to handle like a full bathtub! So having caught the bug I'd like to improve the handling even more - especially if its such a cheap and simple job. 100% Worth it? Any downsides?
  6. Slowly breaking a 1.3SPI AAV white breadvan 1993. Let me know if you want anything. Dash fully stripped. Wings sold. Engine bare block sold. Door rotted out at bottom. Seats not good. Gearbox, ARB staying with me. Located Somerset TA19
  7. When i bought my Polo the sunroof was sealed shut with some horrendously ugly (but ultimately effective) black silicone sealant. It wasn't a deal-breaker so I decided if its not leaking then I can just live with it. However as I've been tidying up the rest of the bodywork this monstrosity on the roof is starting to look increasingly crappy by comparison and has started to stick out like a sore thumb! The paint needs redoing on the roof and the colour of the steel sunroof is decidedly off compared to the rest of the car - wouldn't mind sorting that. Not to mention the fact that the weather has been great recently which got me wondering what it would be like to have a sunroof... So I think I need a bit of a reality check really! Is it worth hacking away at all that black silicone and re-doing the sunroof seal? Am I just going to indroduce a new leak further down the line? I'm also wary of how much it would likely cost for what is basically a small hole in the roof on a sunny day...Haven't found any sunroof seal parts apart from on VW Heritage for ~90 quid. I guess you should also ask why someone decided to silicone up the roof in the first place - Was it leaking like a sieve? Was the leak due to a rotting roof and they couldn't be bothered to repair it? Were they just another idiot with a sealant gun and an itchy trigger finger? The bogan in me says if I want a smarter roof I should remove the silicone and fill in the gap around the sunroof smooth with body filler and paint over the whole thing as if its a plain roof. I could probably do with being told this will be a terrible idea also...
  8. My 93 Polo Coupe's back box is a right mess and I'm looking to change it, I've been looking at a Cherry Bomb Back Box but I'm wondering if anyone has any better ideas. I can only really go as far as £50 as I'll need the rest for labour charges. cheers.
  9. My 93 Polo Coupe has UV damage where "FOX" side decals used to be, I'd quite like to cover up the damage with new "FOX" side decals but can't find a pair anywhere. I've found a German parts website but they only seem to do a left side decal but not the right side. Does anyone know where I could get a left & right side decal? cheers.
  10. So I'm running a Hybrid on AFH injection and the rev gauge feed has been put on the coil but iv heard that you're better off going off the hall sender?

    Mk2f bonnet wanted

Time Left: 1 month and 3 days

    • WANTED
    • USED

Hi people. Thanks for taking the time to look at my ad. As the title says I need a bonnet for a mk2f. colour isn't an issue nor is paint condition stratches etc, it needs to be free from rust and dents, very minor dents may not be an issue as long as the panel looks flat and straight. I appreciate I will probably have to collect as delivery will be an arse!

  15. Hello, So I have been swapping a 1.6 ABU in my polo and my car came with the clock cluster originally. While I was swapping the engine, I also changed out the cluster for one with a tachometer, but it's not working currently. I was wondering which wire is responsible for it? Is it going through the ECM to chassis connector (5 or 6pin, dont remember off of the top of my head)? I have 2 wires not connected there, a yellow and a yellow/white one. By schematics, both of those should be for Data Link Connector (named that way in those schematics), but on the 1.6 engine there is only one wire that connects to the DLC. Where does the tacho get the singal from? Distributor or ECM? If you need any additional info, I'll gladly answer.
  16. Hi all I have a 1994 MK2F 1.3 Genesis and have noticed this little leak from the engine - what are people’s thoughts on what the cause is? I think it may be the thermostat housing? coolant level and temperature are all fine so no overheating issue.
  17. Which factory VW steering wheels fit a 93 MK2F (26mm spline)?

As the title says ran these in my car, these are made for Side Mounted bucket seats but could probably be used for base mounted ones too. Work exactly the same way as original seats mount and served me for long enough, Only reason I am selling as I have welded the mounts in.

  19. So I'm (thankfully) down to just the selector shaft seal leak on my '93 Polo now and want to have a crack at replacing it next week. I've got an OEM seal and 3l of oil - do i need a replacement bush as well? One of these guys? https://www.vwheritage.com/001301209-guide-bush-for-gearbox-selector-rod-vw-spare

    AFH mk2f injection

Im wondering if anyone can give me some pointers on wiring up a AFH to run injection, I'll be removing the Immobiliser from the ECU and all the wiring, my questions are can I get the mk2f rev counter to work with it? Because I know it runs of the coil, how do I go about wiring in the fuel pumps, how do people get the oil pressure switch to work and what do you use iv been told to use both the AFH and the mk2f and get an adaptor, do I need to use the AFH fuse box aswel as the 2f one? Anyone can answer one of these questions would be great.

    Jordan's MK2F breadvan

Hi all been wanting to do one of these for a while but only just got the chance i bought my mk2f breadvan from stockport around september 2017 & it's been an on going daily project ever since. i painted it blue with graffiti paint lowered it on an ebay lowering kit & started doing shows in 2018. after blowing the first 1l engine up i did a quick engine change to another 1l for under £100 just to keep the car on the road. comes to november 2018 time & i wanted to start a winter build. started with painting the car, the car is now melon yellow - done with montana graffiti cans. yes i painted over the windows because i liked the look of a panel van & couldn't be bothered trying to track down some actual panels. bought a GT conversion with the 5 speed short ratio box, stainless manifold and a few extra bits. i liked the idea of having brand new parts even if the old ones were fine.. driveshafts, front coilovers, top mounts, bottom arms, track rod arms/ends, ARB Blocks etc. this build isn't the best thing ever but certainly is a eye catcher & i love the thing aha. this car is built to what i like... not what other people think. if i listened to everyone else it'd be sat here with a 40/60 lowering kit on bbs hahaa STRIP - DROP - RATTLE - ROLL (a motto i like to use from a club called DUBRATZ) if anyone has any questions feel free to ask. photos may not be in order the car currently isnt finished & i'm waiting for a few parts to arrive, i've just bought a new bonnet & wings as ones on the car had dents. follow me on insta: _jordoan_

    Mk2f gt judder

Got a judder coming from the front/ nearside front when pulling away. It feels like an engine mount but I've replaced the lower one with a golf rallye unit a while ago. Tia , Michael.
  23. Planning to change my wheels on my mk2f coupe, car is too low to get under the sill jacking points, are there any alternative points on the car I can safely jack from?

    Had a dream last night

Had a dream that we moved into a new house and previous owner had left a mk2f saloon in the garage. No rust, big spec - headlight washers, front fogs, sunroof - the lot. Went to give it a service. Popped off the oil cap. Blown head gasket.
  25. Just a quick question.. about to buy an exhaust that's come off a MK2 breadvan, would it fit on my 2f coupe? Or would I have to make adjustments?
