Hi all i have a y plate 6n2 polo 1.4 8v Had it for a number of years and well looked after. i was out on work visits when I got back in the car to go home and it wouldn’t start. It wasn’t getting close to starting. RAC came out and jump started it and all was well. Initially he diagnosed that the battery was in poor condition, it’s a Bosch battery that I put on at Christmas time when we had the cold spell. It’s not given a hint of any problem. We turned car off and got back in to start and nothing, jumped it again and then get diagnosis of alternator not charging. Drove home 12 miles park car up and then turn engine off, go to re start and nothing. i spoke to my car garage today who said likely to be alternator but you should have had battery light flashing on dash, i didn’t get that. the garage recommned that I jump it and leave running and then rev it and remove earth lead from battery if it keeps running it battery if it stops then it’s the alternator. what are people’s thoughts on the issue and where is the earth lead, my battery is one with a terminal on top with several wires going the earth lead the back cable with 10amp? thanks
ChrisTaylor posted a topic in Engine, Transmission and Exhaustokay I've posted this before when i had no idea of what it could be so I'm not really sure if its wired in properly but i followed a post about wiring the mk2 ignition in and I'm sure I've got it right but I've still got no spark ! the only thing that i can think off is that my coils is at fault and I'm in need of a new one but still would like people to have a crack at trying to solve my issue i know the rest once I've got the spark so no need on telling me the rest of the set up but its just getting the spark I'm not to sure where I'm going/gone wrong i need this car to fire before next week so if people can help me out as much as possible thank you
okay so heres my issue my 1.4 8v clapped out and basically i did a engine swap to a 16v so now this is the tricky bit everything is working apart from we are not getting spark heres the list of things weve narrowed down 1. the key and ecu are all wired in correctly as the fuel pump is allowing the fuel through 2. loom is all plugged in the right places so fire away with your ideas as mine are running out xD cheers guys
