    1.4tdi 6r

Hi I own a 2016 1.4tdi Polo 6r which due to the lockdown has a flat battery. I think the battery is coming to the end of its life and needs replacing soon. Can I fit a new battery myself or is it a VW job ? I've heard that doing it myself can cause major problems with the various electrical components including the CD player and radio. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation Chris
  2. Hey Guys, I have a problem with my first car, the 6N2 polo. I replaced my stock stereo with a cheap aftermarket one as I needed bluetooth and my fm transmitter went bust. All i got as an extra is an adaptor (iso to din). Since installing the stereo, everytime I switch off the ignition It loses memory. I tried to swap the two chunky ports (brown and black) but I couldnt because of it just doesn't fit. What can I do to stop the memory loss? Should I take off the fuse (red) attached to it?
  3. Hey guys, I have a 6n2/mk3 polo, the basic "E" model and would like to upgrade my stereo and the storage compartment under to a touchscreen one, preferebly with android mirror link or android auto. Any recommendations of one that will actually fit on? Please send the links below. Thanks

Hi all, I am looking to fit a period-correct Sony CD Player/Radio to my 1998 6N Polo. I have found a few models that seem to fit the bill (Sony CDX-4160RDS, CDX-C460, CDX-560/560RDS) If you have one of these, or one similar in working order that you are willing to sell, please let me know. (Postage to UK mainland). Many thanks, Jack

  5. First off I’m new to all this so forgive me for any mistakes I make! Ive got a 1988 coupe s and I love the look and functionality of the original radio. Only problem is the sound quality is terrible. I’ve upgraded the two rear deck speakers to Rockford punch which has made a small difference. Front middle speaker has no wiring too it so I’m not going to use it. I’m set on keeping the original radio as it just looks right. Someone mentioned putting a modern radio in the glove box so it’s hidden but I’m not a fan of this idea as it means the original radio will be disconnected. Has anyone got any advice/ideas for adding something to enhance the audio experience. All the car amplifiers I can see are huge ‘chavvy’ bass boxes! Tia Miles
  6. Hello everyone, I have just bought a polo mk3 6n & would like to upgrade the radio to a Sat nav system if possible, what have you all got? Cheers, Ian.

    Aftermarket Radio

Just picked up an E reg 1988 polo c and am looking to fit my stereo from my old car, when taking out the stock stereo from the car the cables in there are completely different, do I need to get different adaptors to fit the stereo or get a different stereo, can attach pictures of the wires in the morning thank you
  8. So the other day after laughing at the lemon of a polo i own. The radio lost power. Totally at random. After checking radio fuses. And getting the multimeter out i noticed switched live was dead. I see alot of people with this problem. My problem was the 5a mini blade fuse. Location F16 ignition switch "s" contact. Just replaced and will update if it blows again. But i thought this might help someone. If anyone has the same/similer problem please comment. Theirs not enough info on 6n2 radio faults !!! Peace
  9. Good evening all. I have a 52 plate 9n polo, currently fitted with a radio/cassette player and a little storage cubby hole in the second din area. I want to add a CD player, I’ve purchased a second hand Volkswagen one from eBay, awaiting delivery. How easy is it to just add this to the existing radio? I don’t have a radio code so hope I don’t need to disconnect the radio, do I just need to plug the CD player into the back of the radio or is there a bit more to it than that? I won’t be using or needing a cd changer. If so what exactly will this entail? I've ordered a set of tools to remove the radio so I can’t actually pull it out to have a look yet. If I was unlucky enough to disconnect the radio without a code, anyone know where/how I can get the code? Thanks in advance! Alex
  10. Hi all. This is making me pull my hair out! i bought my 6n2 a few weeks ago; it had no stereo in it. What it did have was an aftermarket cage fitted and a loom adaptor for an aftermarket stereo. Ive purchased a second hand oem gamma with seperate CD player. I've removed the cage, disconnected the aftermarket loom leaving only the standard vw plugs. When I plug the stereo in I have the flashing red led. If I turn the lights on on the car the stereo buttons all light up red, however there is no power to the display. I have the code ready once it fires up. Ive checked and changed the under dash fuse and also the stereo fuse on the back. Does anyone have any ideas? I've heard the gamma requires two 12v supplies but looking at the black connector (not the brown speaker one) it looks un-tampered with. Does anyone have a picture of the wires coming out of this connector so I can see if they have been swapped around? I have heard of this problem before so would like to try and explore all avenues before writing off the stereo. thanks in advance. matt

    Audio help!

So I have a base model 9n3, I love the car but it doesn't have an aux port. For the last 18month I have been using a Belkin Radio transmitter to create a local radio station that I can tune my cars stock radio into and play music from my phone. My current setup is low-quality, ugly and needs replacing. Does anyone have any thoughts on the most seamless and effective way of playing my own music through the in built car stereo? I'd really like to be able to also use it as a hand free system so that I can answer the phone on long journeys however this is not essential. In my mind I'd like to cut the wires down to one or even zero if possible however I am on a budget. Thanks a lot!
