So I've got a 1.4 tdi 2001 polo, and there seems to be allot if slack in my accelorator pedal, it's sat way to low but it's got a short cable that isn't adjustable that runs to an electric box, which is the electric throttle, had it all off but no idea how to adjust it to make the pedal sit in the right place, any ideas?

  3. Hey everyone, Another issue with my 96 6n. Now the throttle plate doesn't seem to open when i start the engine. At first i noticed the plate would open just enough to allow the engine to start/idle and there was a loud buzzing noise coming from the throttle body (disappeared when i unplugged it). Then the plate started rapidly flicking between the closed and slightly open position. And now the plate doesn't open at all while the engine is cranking, making it impossible to start the engine and leave it to idle. I can start the engine by putting the accelerator pedal down so i know it's an issue with the throttle body itself. I Have already replaced it for a new throttle body and have the same issue. Am i right in assuming it's a wiring fault of some kind, Bad ground, open circuit? Thanks in advance,

Hiya all, I hope its ok to post this here, I understand technical questions dont go in this part of the forum, but its not a question lol, I just want to share my experience with you guys, might be of help, my apologies in advance if I dont know the technical terms Right, so last year March I bought a 6n2 1.4 16v estate, I got it to replace the 1.0 3dr 6n2 as an upgrade, but within a couple of months she broke down, acceleration was on and off, then completely disappeared, the mechanic I took it to told me either gearbox or clutch or something else similar expensive and big jobs, and was adviced to scrap her, but I left her on my drive because I got her for her being the not so common estate version So in the last couple of days I did some more indept googleing, because I started her and on the clutch drove her on the carpark, which told me it just couldn't be above mentioned problems, I came to the conclusion that it could be the accelerator pedal sensor, also called the throttle sensor, but not to be confused with the throttle body sensor or throttle body position sensor, that bit is important as there is plenty of info to be found on the throttle body problems, but hardly anything on the sensor I was after, and turns out I was right!! So did some hunting for a replacement, even called vw dealer who quoted me £633!! But found one on ebay in the end for only £25!! Same brand, same part number, I took the old one out, put the new one in, and gently stepped on the accelerator, it works!!! As you can understand I am totally over the moon because its been puzzling me, and the mechanic as to what the problem could be, worried it would cost me an arm and a leg to get her fixed, plus its apparently a very common fault, but that sensor hardly gets mentioned, hence I wanted to share it here,in case anyone has the same problem, I will also try and add a couple pics Hope it helps!
  5. Hi All, im a complete noob to this stuff but trying to educate myself. I have a polo 6n - 1996. somewhere down the line it has had an engine change to a 1.4 16 valve DOHC - ENGINE CODE AFH i believe. can someone please point me or tell me the product code the the throttle body and mine has had it. i have two codes but when i check online, neither of them match up to my engine. 036133064d or f or 030133064d or f ANY HELP would be very much appreciated. picture below of my engine if that helps. thanks Guys
  6. Hi all, had a few codes come up on the vag com the other day and wondered what I can do to sort them... 00518 - Throttle Position Sensor-Signal Out of Range(G69) Also check for loose ECM power relay 00530 - Throttle Position Sensor-G8 00533 - Idle Air Control Regulation
  7. Polo 6N -98 1,6 AEE Hello! I'm having a problem where I have no Idle until my car is on normal temp but it only works for about 15 seconds from time to time then the engine stalls, and also my car wont start if i'm not pushing down the throttle pedal. This all happened after an electrical failure in my left hand side aftermarket headlight with crappy connectors. When i turned on the ignition all the lightning in my left hand side headlight was emitting light but very dim or low (low beam, high beam, parking light & angeleyes) so instead of turning it of i started to switch between different lighting setups (like low beam, parking lights only etc.) and on parking lights only it worked perfectly but as i switched to fullbeam my auxillary lamps wouldn't turn off, so i guess there was a short curcuit somewhere... however, as I tried to turn the engine on it just wouldn't start. The starter motor rotates, the engine rotates but it does sound like it's fairl easy to pull around and sometimes it sounds like it wants to starts so badly, like one or two cylinder/s actually ignites. VagCom returns me an error code for Idle motor/regulator so i replaced the throttlebody to a used one just now and I still have the same problem. I did however loosen the hose for the canister purge solenoid valve and then it started and idled normally but I don't think that's the problem. When you start it with the throttle pedal down and keep it at about 1000 rpm you can actually feel a vibration coming from the throttle body itself. Could actually feel it when i reved it by hand from the engine bay too. It comes from the butterfly/throttle When you turn the key to "ON" the throttlebody emitts a dim beeping noise for about 4 seconds and the butterfly makes a clicking noise both at the start and the end of the beeping sequence. The question is... Is there something else than the throttle body that controlls the engine idle? Have I completely toasted the ECU? PS. I did also have an error code on the Oxygen sensor and MAP-Sensor saying singal Intermittent but they did not return as the Idle one did after deletion.
  8. there is a outlet from the throttle body next to electrical plug. it has been blanked of on my car. where does it go. I've got engine out but cannot fine any spare or loose breather pipes.
