For those running a turbocharger is a 1/2" hose big enough to drain back to the sump ? I am running an oil filter adapter for oil cooling and I am taking the oil feed for the turbo from that. Does it connect to the outside filter feed or the inner. I am in two minds. Is it better to take filtered oil after it has been through the filter or unfiltered pressurised oil that is being fed to he filter.
PHIL SWARBRICK posted a topic in Engine, Transmission and ExhaustFor those of you that are running a turbocharger on a 1.3 8V, is there an ideal match of gear ratios including the differential ratio? I have gone for a 3.87 final drive ratio (partly because it's the only gear available new that the LSD will bolt to) in a 8P gearbox and a 0.74 fifth gear. (the only new gear set available) I am aiming for a quick off the line performance with a cruising fifth gear without necessarily a high top speed. However I do not want to over power the tyres in 1st and 2nd gear. I feel if I have a problem here I will have to limit boost in the lower gears. In stock form I think my Mk2 goes better with a four speed than it does with a five speed so this may be due to the gear ratios being more suitable for a stock engine.
