  1. As it states, I am thinking about sticking Rota Grids on my 6n2, and I want this same wheel fitment/ placement or at least similar. im currently on 15x7s (I think, possible that rear are wider, not 100% sure) however I am not sure about the ET. so what I want to know is if anyone has put rota grids 7js on a 6n2, how different they will line up compared to my current rims. or is it worth looking into doing 7s on front and 8s on rear? I Looked into 8js, they sit nice but apparently effects the ride, I currently enjoy the ride on 7js despite the height and would like to continue to as this is my daily. Any input or suggestion appreciated. Cheers.
  2. Planning to change my wheels on my mk2f coupe, car is too low to get under the sill jacking points, are there any alternative points on the car I can safely jack from?
  3. Hi CP, Have just done a test fit with the above wheels and the fronts appear to be too wide, atleast in legal terms. The edge of the rim protudes about 3/4 inch out and I don’t want to chance bring pulled over, etc. Would fitting a tire tire and covering the tread be deemed ok? Was looking at 185/60 however I feel this will offer too much of a square shoulder and result in obvious poke. Are 175/50’s too narrow for modern tire regs?
  4. Hello pleb here. I have finally got round to buying some wheels for my '93 breadvan, they are 13"x6J BBS offset is 33. wondering what the best bet for tires is and not having problems with scrubbing, car is not lowered at all. cheers for any help, again sorry for being dumb.

    Wonky wheels

I was looking into where my front wheels were rubbing after putting some larger wheels on that friend lent me to try. Turns out it was rubbing on the drivers side arch because that wheel sits about an inch further back than the passenger side wheel. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should investigate first, it's not the wheels themselves. Could worn bushes cause this? My initial thought was that the wishbone could be bent but it's never had a bump or anything.

Uprated rear beam with adjustable stiffness, coil overs with with two way adjustment on front. Strut top, and chassis braces. Wheel balancing

I have bought some steel wheels from a bmw e30, they fit well but was wondering if they need to be balanced. They already have weights on and not too sure if that counts.
  14. Hi there guys. Recent new member and proud owner of an '86 Formal E with only 37k on the clock...imagine that. Thought this would be the best place to sign up to in regards to questions and advice etc. I currently have the original wheels in the garage for restoration but would also like some smart lookers for lets face it...showing off. It's currently on period TSWs. I'd have to check the full sizing etc but essentially I was looking for advice on a new set of rims. I'm wondering if anybody can advise as to how big as well as how wide I can go without any modding to arches etc. I assume there'll be plenty of you that have tried bits and bats through your time so who better to ask? Thanks for your time guys, Have a good day!
  15. 1st post didn't show? so hope this doesn't duplicate. Just got a Mk3 Polo and after replacing both rear bearings, have discovered the horrible noise coming from the back was due to flat spots in the tires. Not a fan of 13" anyway but looks like it might be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand set of wheels than replace 3 tires (1 on the front is bad too). I have been offered these wheels shown in photo off a Mk2. They are been sold as 14" G60's but i have heard there is a VW winter wheel? that looks similar. Can anyone identify if these are genuine G60's? Also, what's the going rate £££ for the wheels in the photo? Wether they be G60's or otherwise. Thanks.
  16. Hi, I've just bought a 5 door vw polo 9n3 in grey with the stocks alloys. Ive found some 17" Team Dynamics 5x100 ET55 with some decent set of tyres on them and want to know if they'd fit my car without any other mods needed done first. Thanks, this is my first mod aha appreciate the help in advance. I've added a couple of pics of them.
  17. Hi if anyone could help me would be appreciated im looking to do a stud conversion on my polo 9n3 gti would any one know the size of the stud i would need would it be either m12 or m14 by 1.5 or another size thanks
  18. I need to refurb the standard 6n2 gti wheels that are on my car. I know they are splits to will have to take them apart to do it. Bare with me with this question, I know it might sound stupid but I'd rather sound stupid than try it and muck it up. I would be refurbing the wheels myself so I can't remove the tires. Is it safe to split the rims with tires on still?
  19. I have a set of reasonably rare Dezent typA wheels in 7 & 8" flavour. However the lips are pretty shagged and will require a fair bit of work/money to get looking right again. Therefore I was wondering if it was possible to make a set of 2-piece splits by currint the lip off and tapping the barrels. Does anyone know anything about this as a process and what are the pit falls?
  20. So I've had my mk2 breadvan for a while now and I've decided it's time for some new wheels... by the looks of things there isn't much room on the back at all, the car is lowered 60/40. Does anybody have an idea of what size wheels and tyres i could fit? I'd rather not change the arches too, cheers!!!
