Hi Chaps,

it's been a VERY long time since I've been on here.. 2011 in fact. I'm back in the market for a Polo looking at a Dune for the other half's first car.

My last car was a 6n2 GTi and I know sweet fa about any Polo's after that.

Does anyone have any info on Dunes, such as a buyers guide? I'm interested in common faults and which engine I should be looking at (i'm favouring the 1.4 FSi at the moment).

Thanks in advance chaps.

Same as most Polo 9n/3. The 1.2 petrol has a tendency of randomly blowing itself up. The 1.4 petrol is fine. Best to go for is the 1.4tdi. Watch for console bushes & top mounts rattling. Whining power steering (rack on the way out). Blocked EGR & sticky vaines on the VNT in the turbo (easy fixed with Mr Muscle)
