Std with 6n 6n2, probably left the factory that way

It is common problem, replace or rebuild

Surely its possible to strengthen the box

Being the SDI it still uses the 085 style gearbox, so any 6n2 gearbox will fit. Just need to find a good match for the current ratios.

If you look here, there are two PDFs that list all the 6n/2 gearboxes and their ratios.

Hi guys so am back in a Polo Gti after 6years. My last Polo was built for a Fast road/ Track Car and was unreal.
It had Comp Mo5’s, Bmc with custom intake, fully Poly Bushed, front upper and lower strut brace, rear upper strut brace, striped out interior and a PhilJ Suspension

My New Gti is fully standard and has Full-service history, but it was going to get broke and scraped so I bought the car knowing it had a broken Gearbox.
So things am doing to it:
      Fix the Box
      G60 Brakes
Full respray over the winter (freshen up the paint and get rid of the lacquer peal.
Then I need to decide to build another fast road car or keep it original?
Also does PhilJ still do suspensions?

      Hello,

I'm wondering are there download-able versions of Polo 2000 Service and User manuals?
Recently I have got one, and I'd like to learn more on how it works and to become less addicted to service repairs.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum.
If it is, please direct me to the right one.

      Thank you!

      Hey guys,

I've got a 6N2 currently sitting on original shocks with 40mm lowering springs atm. Problem is... its not low enough. And it drives like shit.
The shocks bottom out on the smallest of speed bumps and then proceed to turn the car into a bouncy castle.

I've been weighing up my options of going coilovers or a full suspension kit and have decided that coilovers are too much like hard work from the side of maintenance and setup. Also don't want to have to spend 400 quid on some coilies that i will have to worry about. I like the idea of being able to manually adjust my ride height but Englands that full of potholes that i doubt i could go that low anyway. So lowering kit it is. Im not part of stance nation 🤣

Im running on 15 x 7.5j D/W G705s with 195/50/15s by memory. Look great until you realise you could fit a head inside the arch 😅.

So basically I'm wondering if anyone on here is running similar setups but with a lowering kit such as the AP 60/30 kit on venom motorsport. I saw the Eibach sportlines on a 6N2 GTI that looked good but that was on 16s (see attached)... and an inch can make a big difference 😜.

I want similar fitment to the image below but with my 15s. Modified but manageable. And hopefully more comfortable than linear springs.

      Cheers

In the engine bay back wall there is a carpet material. Is this just for sound proofing or something more?

      Can I strip it out?
