well, letting water in wont do owt

could be a blockage in the heater matrix somewhere.

could need a new matrix...which at 40 quid, is abit steep

what is the normal running temp of your car? if the needle doesn;t move much on the temp gauge then it could be your thermostat?

The matrix can be changed in situ, and 40 quid is nothing compared to some other cars.

First thing to do is check the rod-activated tap works. If so,take the inlet water pipe off,run the engine, and check you have a strong water feed. Then attach the feed, unattach the outlet, and see if the water comes out the outlet.

Most likely, the problem is with the engine - thermostat housing or head gasket.

could be that the cable from the heater control has come loose. On sunny/cold days I've got to open the bonnet and move it manually as the clip holding the cable to the back of the interior dial has broken.

right, i think i understand all of that..

ill have to go over all that and see what the problem is.

£40 isnt all that bad, I've known it to be stupidly expensive on some cars!

i did change my rocker cover and gasket about a week ago and haven't run the car much since then..

is that the head gasket?

thanks :)

Nope. Head gasket is the next one down. Its between the valve housing and the block and can be an expensive job mostly due to the hassle of replacing it.

When you say the heating is gone, do you mean it only blows cold air, or it doesn't blow any air out at all? If it isn't blowing air on stage 1 or 2 but it does with stage 3, it'll be the resistor pack on the heater unit, these cost about £12 from GSF. (I think...)

oh no, it blows out on all the stages just its cold air and not hot :(

Check your coolant level.

Bleed the system (with the engine warm, and the heater on full, undo the bleed screw on the side of the matrix a few turns until it lets out a steady stream of water).

i dont know where the matrix iss??!

hahaha, i mean sorry shouldnt laff

look at the top of the engine bay theres a tray plastic cover thing in the middle....remove the rubber strip and this tray...you will see the heater/fan blower bang in your face!...to the right hand side you will see two rubber pipes, one at top other at bottom. near to these is a white screw thingy....sat on the top. unscrew this slightly when the engines running, coolant should come out of it. if you see bubbles this is good...just let all the bubbles come out and a steady stream of coolant....check your heating and if theres air in the system, it should be now removed.

ah, sounds like that could be the problem...

when i have the heating on sometimes it squeels.

someone told me thats trapped air?

thankyou, ill have a check!

hahaha, i mean sorry shouldnt laff

dont laugh, I'm new at all this stuff.

I'm learning

:D

the squeeling is the fan bearings...mines the same!

just can never be bothered to change em out

lash some silcone spray or spray lube one the fan while its on ...shuts em up for a while
